Listen I try my best and I have definitely left puzzles unfinished but I have a streak going and sometimes I do Google the answers when I’m REALLY stumped. And usually it’s a word I’ve never heard of and there is no way I’d come up with it on my own (especially if it’s connected to another word I don’t know so I can’t even guess)

My husband gets so angry that I’m “cheating” but if a couple words make or break whether or not I complete the puzzle then who cares! It’s not that serious right? Then I know a new word for next time!

I’ve been playing the crossword daily for a couple months now after a 3 year hiatus. recently I’ve noticed the same words are being reused a lot. Is this typical? Eg. I feel like >!AHAB!< is an answer in one of the puzzles almost daily.
I do like the wordplay themes (today was tricky until I figured it out) but some days I’m just bored of the same clue. I’m just wondering if this is normal in the world of crosswords?

I am noticing that one-day-old puzzles now turn blue for me upon completion instead of gold. Did they change the window? I’m bummed because I always run behind on weekends. 48 hours seemed fair for streak maintenance.

That's a real shame. Thank goodness I just watched the movie today, but that's just poor judgment on the clue writer's part.

I wish that the letters which are in the correct position would auto-fill onto the next line.

If you’re not playing hard mode, no worries. If you are, make it simpler and keep people honest.

Side story: I play HM, my mom plays the other way. She has 2 starting words and generally solves in 3 or 4. Mine are 3-4-5.

I've got a 1400+ day streak and while everything is showing gold in the archives, I'm getting random streak numbers on all my puzzles ranging from 0 to 200 and most of them are reset as if I've never tried them. Showed 206 after finishing the Saturday just now and in my stats it's apparently 7. I've emailed NYT about it a couple days ago, but no response. Trying to decide if it's a reinstall the app situation or if it's more widespread?

There should be a button that changes an entire word to either pen or pencil. Sometimes I’m unsure about something but then want to lock it in later (or the other was around - I become less sure) and I hate having to retype the words.

I don’t always use the pencil feature but for the times I do it would be nice to have this functionality.

Didn't know where else to post this as it is mostly to do with the crossword and I have been trying to contact customer help for the past week. I bought the annual subscription a bit more than a week ago (the money definitley left my account and my icloud account has the subscription on record)

and have been having problems ever since: every time I leave the app and come back it seems as if I didn't have the subscription at all. I then have to start the paying process again when it finally tells me that I already have it. It wouldn't be such a big problem if that trick always worked, but ever since they don't offer the annual subscription on the home page anymore, it doesn't work so i can't do the crosswords or archive wordles.

If anyone has had the same problem or can give me some advice I would be really grateful.

I've seen a lot of posts about the app glitching but mine had been fine until today. I spent a good amount of time working on today's puzzle, was nearly at the end. On my work break I opened it back up and the whole puzzle was gone! The timer had restarted, too.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Edit: on the plus side, I remembered the answers I already had so my completion time is wickedly good lol

So mad the wordle is now on top. The NYT crossword is iconic and its signature game. Me and thousands of others play it every day. It should be on top. And please take out the cross play add on top. I play cross play on that app every day and don’t need the fixed add.

Like everybody else, my app kept crashing when doing crosswords. I reached out to NYT and they asked what system I was using and what version of the app. I use iOS and I have the latest version of the app.

They told me to-
Restart the NYT Games app.
Log out of your account, then log back in.
Uninstall and reinstall the app.

I did that thinking no way would it help anything but it did work for me so I thought I’d share in case.

so it’s been over a week now this goddamn app doesn’t work properly. and it’s the same for everyone i know. does NYT just not notice or not care?

any time i've tried to access the app today it force shuts down after 2 minutes. no other apps open or programs running and connected to wifi. happening to anyone else?

Is anyone else having trouble with the NYT Games app (iOS) crashing every few minutes? It’s a no-harm no-foul situation since it opens back up right where I left off, but it is annoying. Started yesterday (6/29).
