Gene, our sweet boy

We adopted him as a kitten. Unfortunately, a respiratory issue he had then has caused some minor brain damage, so now he has a head tilt and takes a little longer to get his bearings when he re-orients himself. Loves to demand pets with aggressive head butts, overstimulating himself to the point of biting us. He’s our sweet little idiot.

Advice for flying home with a kitten

I'm picking up my 3mo old Norwegian Forest Cat kitten from a breeder next weekend and will be taking a 2.5hr flight home after. This will be my first time traveling by airplane with a pet and I welcome any advice from those who have been through it. I've already purchased the in-cabin pet ticket with United and the breeder is getting the required vet documentation, so should be good to go there.

My current plan is to bring a soft sided carrier with key rings connecting the zippers so that the kitten cannot escape. In the carrier will be pee pads and a towel in case the kitten has an accident. I'll also bring unscented wet wipes and gloves for cleaning up an accident, though my hope is that I won't have to open the carrier at all in transit. I will also have a small bowl (or maybe bottle cap?) for water and some churus. If the breeder gives me a blanket or something that smells like the kitten's mom, then I'll put that in the carrier too. I'll bring a lightweight fabric to drape over the carrier if needed.

I know I will have to take the kitten out of the carrier when I go through security. My current plan is to ask for a private screening, since the kitten is not yet harness trained. Is there anything else I can do to make this process easier?

I'd appreciate any other insight to help me prepare for the trip. Thank you!

Never heard of NFC before OWL!

I adopted “Our Wicked Lady” last year from a rescue when she was a baby kitten. I have never had a cat with so much FLOOF! We think she is a “Tea Cup” NFC.

My girl seems underweight?

we got her last Thursday, she's a year and a half and weighs 2.5kgs

is it possible she's underweight? she's very energetic and doesn't sit still, so these are the best pics I managed to take of her.

what do you think? is she underweight? what can I do if that's the case?

Question

We have 2 other adult cats but our 10 month almost 11 month old Norwegian suddenly doesn’t want to eat really .

He used to eat like a pig but since yesterday he hasn’t really wanted any food . I don’t think it’s teething because he should be over that by now ?

Long hair during uk heatwaves

Hi all, I hope everyone and their wonderful mogs are coping well with the glorious weather.

I do have a question about long hairs during the current conditions, or I'm over worrying, but would it be recommended to give our girl a bit of a haircut or not? She is mainly indoors and is loving her life snoozing away in the sun, but I'm starting to worry with the heat, and if it's affecting her in any way. She tends to sleep in the hottest room in our flat where she sprawls out on the lament flooring letting the day pass her by. We have fans going almost 24/7 to cool the room down mainly for her and give her a small frozen treat for her to lick at and she has access to the entire house which is much cooler to go into but she seems totally unfazed by it all. I do touch her skin under all the fur and she seems OK eats smaller portions happily drinks the normal amounts of water and is her normal meowing self. So am I just worrying to much because myself and the wife are the ones struggling in the heat or would a hair cut be a good idea?

Apologies for the long post and keep cool everyone

My NFC is the best cat I’ve ever had

I’ve never had a cat so sweet and caring. He’s always by my side. This is my third year with him and I hope he lives to his twenties.
