Hi there,

I want to use this camera (using it via the Virtual Camera feed) in a kiosk environment where the camera will be setup in a position, its zoom/image/camera settings saved as a preset. But when the media device (Windows IoT) boots up, I need it to open the OBSBOT software and enable Virtual Camera and select a specific preset, can this be done built into the OBSBOT application/control panel? Or is there any other ways/suggestions.

I have just purchased the OBSBOT Tiny 3 Streaming Combo package a few days back.

Today i got email about firmware update for both the camera and the mic.

I'm aware the linux is not fully supported (seen many videos people get everything to work more or less using OBS etc). I'm just wondering if there is a secret way to update the firmware in linux?

I can use my wife's windows laptop to update but just wanted to ask the community if there is a native linux way of doing this?

Personally i moved fully to linux since now CachyOS let me play all my games using Steam and KDE is mature enough to work even much better then windows. For me there is no going back :)

I just love CachyOS. It works so fast and now i feel i won my pc :) no spyware, forced popup update and update that break the computer hehe

Better to record in OBS or OBSBOT software?

I’m going to have a 4 cameras setup. Any guess as to which performs better?

is an NDI licence required to simply view the camera view on my laptop?
lets say i've setup the camera for an event and i've connected it via ethernet to my network.
Can i access the camera from my laptop to control it, view files recorded on the SD card etc. or do I still need an NDI licence just for that?
I don't have any requirement to stream live with it.

I've read up on what NDI is and i understand it allows to transmit AV over ethernet but does that mean without the licence i cannot control the Tail 2 via ethernet from my laptop and would have to use the phone app over wifi?

Hi all (and hopefully OBSBOT support 🙏),

I run an OBSBOT Tail 2 as a permanent, unattended 24/7 install, pushing RTMP

to my own server. The problem: after a power cycle, nothing recovers on its

own. Three questions:

1. Streaming — RTMP doesn't auto-resume after a reboot; someone has to start

it manually. Is there an auto-start streaming on power-on setting? Does

SRT/RTSP auto-resume on boot even if RTMP doesn't?

2. Position — after a reboot the gimbal doesn't return to my framing. Does the

Tail 2 automatically return to the "Initial Position" (pan/tilt + zoom) on

power-on, or is that only a manual "reset" action?

3. Auto power-on when power returns — the wall outlets are switched off

overnight. The camera runs on its battery until it drains and shuts off. In

the morning the outlet power comes back and the camera is receiving power

again, but it does NOT turn on by itself — I have to press the power button.

How do I make it boot automatically as soon as it gets external power,

especially after the battery has fully drained? Does "Plug/Unplug to Power

On/Off" cover this case (battery fully empty → power restored)?

Goal: camera stays on / comes back 24/7, returns to my exact framing, and

resumes streaming — zero manual steps. Is this achievable today, and with

which settings/firmware? Thanks! 🙏
