looking to hear from asexual and/or aromantic people in cbus

i'm from central oio and i'm going to be returning to the area (semi-)permanently in a few months as i graduate. i was heavily involved in an lgbtq+ organization at my college, but i was the only aromantic person and one of two asexual people on staff all 4 years i was there. it was a very isolating, frustrating experience. i mostly stuck around because i liked the part of my job i was getting paid to do.

i would really like to stay involved with an in-person community, just one that's... better. if anyone has recommendations for aspec-specific communities/events and experience with broader lgbtq+ organizations in columbus, i'd love to hear about it!

Name change clinic 4/18

So it’s been almost a month since I attended this name change clinic in Columbus. I was able to submit forms to legally change my name on my birth certificate and all that jazz but have yet to hear or see anything from it. Yes I realize I’m being impatient but I can’t help it😅

I just wanted to see if anyone else who attended this clinic(specifically this day, 4/18) and is also on Reddit has received any kind of updates or has received their documents… I just feel like I’m going crazy bc I haven’t received any updates or anything🫠

Ohio Lesbians

I’m stuck between moving to Cleveland or Columbus and I’m looking for some insight. Which city is more LGBTQIA friendly and has better outlets for meeting new people and friends?

Showing up matters.

With Pride Month only a few short weeks away, local Pride organizers are facing an uphill battle. As legislation and hostility targeting the LGBTQ+ community continue to increase, corporate donations have dropped even further this year, leaving many Pride organizations in urgent need of community support.

To help ease that burden, last‑minute fundraising events are being organized to ensure these vital celebrations and services can continue. Pride organizations provide life‑saving support by countering social stigma, celebrating diversity, and serving as powerful platforms to advocate for equal rights, visibility, and safety in the face of ongoing discrimination.

By attending one of these fundraisers, supporters can make a direct impact. All proceeds benefit local LGBTQ+ nonprofits.

In childhood, abandoned by my parents - now abandoned by my only daughter

Feel terrible this morning. I woke from, yet another nightmare. In the dream, my daughter was with me. My ex and I had divorced. And I was trying to spend time with her. It was time to go home. And she told me to " f " off .....and I walked home alone crying.

It's been years since divorce. My ex is and was a brutally mean alcoholic. But my daughter always loved her deeply. I thought I was a very good parent. But the more I think about it, maybe she is right and I wasn't. Maybe I was and am high spectrum autistic. And I am now in the LGBTQUIA. I was living straight then. As soon as my ex and I divorced, my daughter went my ex's way. And I was completely alone from that point on. It's been years. And my daughter has zero contact with me now. And my life has no meaning. I woke again this morning, debating what to do. Everyone has a choice. I have one person in my life today. He is my friend. And I have some cats that probably wouldn't care if I'm gone. I have no family - though they are all alive and happy I haven't been in their life since 9th grade. My life has no meaning or purpose. I know it means if there is a God, He hates me too.

Need trans friendly restaurant recommendations in NE OH

How is Ohio looking these days?

Hi! I’m planning to move out with my partner soon, we’re just deciding on somewhere to go. Ohio was not our first choice. Or our second. Or our tenth. But it is extremely affordable compared to everywhere else we’ve looked, so we might end up going there.

I know they’re not doing a good job at all with supporting trans people, and just seems to get worse every year…

I’m extremely grateful that I’ve gotten top surgery and a hysterectomy already, and I’ve been on T for 7 years. I pass well and I have no desire to change my (unisex) birth name. I’m undecided about my gender marker. I’ve heard the cities of Ohio are generally queer-friendly, which is what we’ll stick to. I’m most interested in Cleveland. All I’ll need access to is HRT for now.

So, how is either Cleveland or Columbus lately in regards to trans people? We really cannot afford to live anywhere in the northeast like I want so I feel like I don’t have any other options 🥹Thank you for any advice!!

Making friends Columbus area

Hello all,

I'm looking for suggestions on making friends as an adult. I (22M) live in the Columbus area. I've tried going to a ceramics class, bars, different social events, apps and haven't been able to make friends. I've envited a couple people to go hiking with me and nothing works out. I find it hard trying to be friends with cis males because I don't feel like I fit in with them and they lowkey scare me

I'm looking for people who are caring and empathetic. I enjoy hands on activities, hiking, and am willing to try anything. Theatre, simple game nights, movie nights, comedy, volunteering, anything I just want to make friends. I'm currently volunteering at a equine therapy barn but nothing has come from it. I've tried the lgbtq Columbus gamers but didn't feel like I fit in. I just want people to hangout with. I like doing daily activities with others because it just makes things more fun. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to it.

I'm putting myself out there.

Central Ohio. I'm lesbian. I am a violinist, lyricist, poet, composer, song writer and orchestrator. I consider myself an artist. I spend most of my time on the farm. And I'm restoring my Victorian. I love wild animals, biking, hiking, camping, building camp fires and cooking. I'm a sailor. And I love sailing and working on my sailboats. I spend a lot of time, contemplating life. I'd like to get to know some women and see where it goes. If anything, I might end up with a friend to go do things together.
