Lesbian Participants Wanted: Dating & Attraction Study (18+)

Hi everyone! 😊

I'm a PhD researcher at James Cook University in Australia and I'm looking for lesbian women aged 18 years and over to take part in an anonymous online study exploring attraction, dating preferences, and how people evaluate potential romantic partners.

This study forms part of a broader research program examining whether theories of attraction, many of which were originally developed using predominantly heterosexual participants, also apply to LGBTQIA+ communities. The goal is to help build a more representative evidence base in this area.

The survey takes around 5–10 minutes to complete and involves viewing a series of fictional dating profiles before answering questions about attraction and relationship preferences.

Although the research is based in Australia, we're recruiting internationally, and I'd love to have lesbian women from Europe represented.

The study has received ethics approval from the James Cook University Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Approval No. 25H-0225).

If you'd like to know more about the study before participating, please feel free to email me at kaitlyn.gregory@my.jcu.edu.au.

I'm also more than happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thank you so much for considering taking part!

For Sale: Home in Greenville, OH

Hello, friends. I am new here, but reside in Portland, OR. I work at an LGBTQ centered clinic and pharmacy combo and do my best to always prioritize our community whenever I can. I am NB/Agender myself.

The reason I am in this Sub is my Bisexual/Platonic life partner inherited this house recently and it is up for sale. It is in Greenville, OH, on a rural state road, backed up to a state park. Could be a nice "starter home" for a couple or perhaps a useful rural community space. It is "on grid" for electricity but has a powerful generator. Uses Propane. Septic. Has a well. New metal roof is perfect to install Solar to get off the city grid for power if you wanted to. Good sized back lot parcel, perhaps for a community or personal garden? Creating our own safe spaces is what we have always had to do, and is ever more important now!

Maybe you know someone looking? Thanks for reading and stay loud and proud!

Questions about the house itself? Please reach out to the realtor. He knew the person who lived there and will have far more detailed answers.

I hope I posted correctly per the mod rules I read, thank you.

Supreme Court upholds state transgender sports bans

Dr. Acton said she agrees with the law prohibiting transgender women and girls from participating in women's and girls' sports.

"I do not support boys playing in girls sports. This is already settled law in Ohio, and as governor I will enforce and uphold the law," Dr. Acton said.

"As a doctor, public servant, and a mom, I will always stand up for fairness and protect kids' health and safety," she continued.

I've been to Kinx Boutique(2413 N High) only once now, but it is really nice to see a brand new place similar to The Garden open up in town. Anyone else been there?

Trying To Make Friends In Columbus

Hey everyone! I'm Alice, 39 year old Asexual Trans Lesbian, who moved to Columbus, Ohio a little over a year ago with my 12 year old son, who has AuDHD, and now ex-partner.

There have been a lot of ups and downs, no friends or family in a new place, but I'm finally pushing myself to seek out my own happiness.

I'm looking for people around my age in the Columbus area to watch movies with (especially Horror - trying to get a girl's night out to see Evil Dead Burn on opening night). I'd love to play TTRPGs, board games, or even video games with some friendly faces.

I'm also open to setting up get-togethers for mini-me, for any potential friends that also have children around his age.

Heterosexual, Gay, and Lesbian Participants Wanted: Dating and Attraction Study (18+)

Hi everyone!

I'm a PhD researcher at James Cook University in Australia and I'm currently recruiting participants for an anonymous online study exploring attraction, dating preferences, and how people evaluate potential romantic partners.

Participants will view a series of fictional dating profiles and answer questions about attraction and relationship preferences. The findings will contribute to a better understanding of how people evaluate potential romantic partners and whether existing theories of attraction, many of which have traditionally been developed using predominantly heterosexual samples, also apply to LGBTQIA+ populations.

To participate, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Identify as heterosexual, gay, or lesbian

The survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous and voluntary.

We recognise the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. While this follow-up study focuses on heterosexual, gay, and lesbian participants, it forms part of a broader research program that has included, and will continue to include, people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.

This study forms part of my Doctor of Philosophy at James Cook University and has received ethics approval from the James Cook University Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Approval No. 25H-0225).

If you'd like to participate, the survey can be accessed here:

https://jcu.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3KSKL7xTGKco61g

If you have any questions about the study or methodology, I'm more than happy to answer them. Thank you for your time!

Cleveland queer family friendly neighborhoods?

My (40f) wife (34f) has recently been offered a job at one of the cultural institutions in the University Circle neighborhood in Cleveland. We also have a 3 year child. We are currently living in a very queer neighborhood with a lot of other two-mom families in Philadelphia (there are literally 3 lesbian mom families just on our block). My job is fully telecommuting, so finding employment for myself is not a factor.

I’m originally from around Columbus (where we met) and we moved to the east coast around 8 years ago. I’m feeling apprehensive about moving back to Ohio after being in such a Philly bubble - I feel like I’ve really been able to come into my own here and I’m worried about not feeling accepted or my kid feeling some kind of way about having two moms.

I also realize I know basically nothing about Cleveland other than it is generally considered a very LGBTQ friendly place. We’re taking a trip this weekend to check out neighborhoods that might be a good fit for us and I’m hoping to get some recommendations.

We’re looking for a family friendly, LGBT-friendly, fairly walkable neighborhood with access to parks or playgrounds appropriate for a 3 year old. We will also be looking for convenient and trustworthy daycare options. We’re typically in bed by 10pm, so nightlife isn’t a priority (which is kinda what you get if you google LGBT friendly neighborhoods), but open mindedness and non judgmental attitudes are a priority.

I’m a fat lady with short hair and unshaven legs and I’m looking to not get stared at while I’m grocery shopping with my wife and kid, basically (unfortunately not a given in Columbus).

Thanks in advance for any/all help, and I’d welcome any encouragement about Cleveland in general!

Queer wedding venues/vendors

Engaged lesbian here hi!!!! Does anyone have any recommendations on queer friendly vendors/venues??

Did you love the place you got to marry your bestie?
I will say, I have no idea about size or budget yet currently just browsing our options. Would love somewhere affordable, cute, gay friendly that can fit like 80-100 people but I do understand that may not be possible lol

Recommended safe parks or trails Columbus(evening time)

Looking to get out more but still lack confidence for daytime appearance. So I would like to start off with evening or even late walks, possibly even some jogging. Any recommendations or at the very least places I should avoid? Thanks 😊

HRT provider that can prescribe out of state

I am an trans guy who has lived in Ohio my whole life but I go to university in Georgia. My old provider (Thrive clinic at nationwide children's hospital) was able to prescribe me my testosterone in Georgia until it was completely shut down and I had no luck finding a provider in Georgia that can also prescribe me my testosterone in Ohio when I'm up there for breaks.

I'm using Folx at the moment just because I have no other options but obviously going from $5 a month for my testosterone to $50 a month due to membership costs as a college student is highly irritating AND I am required to switch providers whenever I move states because apparently they can't prescribe over state lines??? I was going to go with Equitas until I learned that they can't even prescribe out of state either.

Someone please help because I don't have the time to be on a waiting list for a provider just to find out they aren't licensed to prescribe out of state since I'm returning to Georgia in September.

Queer n' Autistic person looking for social care/assistance within the system, as it were.

Heyya, so, some of you probably saw the post from last night, I've deleted it as I read through it today and it was more a mess of panic and impulse than anything else, and I hope that this post is a bit more clear, and less erratic.

I am a gender-queer (masc presenting, more often than not) autistic person who struggles with the stresses of making phone calls to get appointments sorted initially, trying to understand what companies and such accept what insurance what doesn't, as well as what places may offer help with transportation to and from appointments, etc.

Basically, I am looking for a person, I don't know if a "social care worker" or "social worker" is the correct term or not, but someone who can at least help guide me through things, possibly be the one to reach out to companies, figure out what the situation is and if the context around me, my location, insurance, etc are all good enough to then book an appointment.

Maybe social worker isn't the right term, but I hope in describing what I am looking for, folks can point me in the right direction.

I can access the COTA services with relative ease. Uber can be arranged if absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I don't have any transportation available. I am based in South Columbus (Close to High St. & Reeb Ave.)

Thank you to anyone and everyone who was able to provide some insight on the last post, and any insight on this post.
