3d scan rig with raspberry pi + openscan3 firmware

New worm-gear drive works great (though still a bit wobbly). Moving the camera works great and i adjusted only 4 values in the existing firmware to make it fully functional (steps per rotation and limits)
The power of the gear reduction is impressive and I‘ll definitely design some kind of covers for the mechanism ^^

PLEASE help me.

i got everything working in some way, all respond except the camera. Ringlight light up; the thing that i imput turning turn, but the camera just show gray.

i sincerely don't know what to do.

Stress-testing the worm-gear drive system of a 3d scanning automation

I am currently refining the scanning rig that can be both used with handheld 3d scanners as well as with the openscan camera system.
This is part of a 24h testrun to see how PLA parts can handle those quite significant forces of several Nm on 1mm teeth. Surprisingly this morning the machine was still running and there is only very minor wear after 5000 repetitions.

New 3D scanning rig

I am currently building a new scanning rig, that allows even automatic capture with handheld scanners. I really struggle with not losing the track when manually moving the scanner around the object.
This setup is a hybrid of the OpenScan Classic and Mini variant were the object is only moved on one axis.
The main advantage is, that the scanner distance can be adjusted (almost) freely.

The design is simplistic but very versatile and I am currently printing a worm-gear variant. The timing belt solution works well, but as soon as power gets cut, the scanner slams down into the table.
Maybe anyone knows another mechanism that can easily amplify torque (1:100) and is (mostly) printable. Pls let me know your thoughts.
