When i was yunger i used to make edits of my parents or family mebers, anc them post them online on facebook or imgur just for fun, what if this is the case, think about it, why someone would create a scary picture like that using some random photo found online and putting in it effort and skills, what if it was made for a joke, a familiar joke, maybe the photo was just taken from the original camera and edited in photoshop, that means that the original photo remained in the original camera or computer, for me this is the most realistic explanation

To keep this short, I made a post a little while back about my theory that the "tongue" was actually just a lip from the underlying layer of the image. In a later post, I mentioned that I wanted to try getting in contact with Mariko, or anyone who might be connected to her, to see if they could provide any clarification.

After speaking with someone related or close with her, it's clear that she wants nothing to do with the search. If you happened to come across her by chance, please respect her privacy and leave her alone. She doesn't deserve to be harassed over something like this.

Out of respect for her wishes, I won't be sharing any additional details or the photos that were provided to me.

(For anyone wondering, the photos are NOT original JTK material, I can promise that.)

While I do think the lead I followed was fairly solid, at the end of the day this is a real person who is, more than likely, tired of being contacted about this. I think it's best that we let her move on with her life.

I also want to apologize for being away for a while after making my original post. I stepped back from posting because I was dealing with harassment from a mix of people on both the Discord server and the Reddit community. Some people even went as far as threatening to leak my personal information if I continued looking into this, claiming that I was "a burden" to the search.

Despite all of that, I accomplished what I set out to do and got the information I needed. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way, and I hope we can all remember to treat the people connected to this search with respect.
