SEASON 2 EP5
I was so rooting for Tre and Tonia. They seem like such kind genuine people. I hope they are still friends 🥰

I always wondered if people that need mental health medications, birth control and/or diabetes medications can join.
I think the answer is no but we never really know cause they could just not show that.
What do y'all think?
Seems like in every single season some real pieces of crap win haha. Season 1 it was horrible, they were really bad people. Season 2 was a bit of a refresher in at least they didn't steal from other teams (even if they actively wanted to but were just too incompetent to do so) but the dudes were still awful. Then in the Jungle it was okay I guess except they cut Leiya right at the end in a pretty heartless and cruel way.
I don't know if I can take another season of the bad guys winning haha
Wes squaring up with Sarah was definitely cringe AF I’m not gonna defend that at all. Like bro you are literally squaring up against a tiny girl half your size so people are rightfully calling him out for that but I have seen other people on here being extremely harsh and and shitty about Brett and Braxton and it’s really undeserved imo. Like people are saying Brett shouldn’t be allowed to be a dad and that he and Braxton seem like date rapists? Guys, you’re fucking crazy for that shit.
Like yeah Braxton said the thing about naming the iguana Leiya and Brett said he hopes they all get malaria at the end and sure these are some shitty things but guys this is a fucking game show and they fought hard and were malnourished af and in that state of mind losing the money they had every right to be upset and pissed off and if you honestly think they meant that shit and weren’t just blowing off steam then something is wrong with you. On top of that those two were young af but yeah 95% of you people saying all these nasty terrible things, worse than anything they said that wouldn’t even last a day out there and if you did you’d turn into a much bigger monster than either of them.
It’s just insane to see you guys judge these contestants so harshly from behind a screen when most of you would lose all composure and probably have said way worse things in their position.
They made the show way more entertaining and interesting this was by far the best season and it’s largely due to all the drama on Charlie team.
This is a game show guys, they were competing for money. Sure Wes was a dumbass man child but those other two boys were just young, dumb kids and honestly they played an extremely clean game the worst thing they did was plot to vote leiya off at “the right time” but look how she turned that in her favor and duped them okay?
Just….. stop being so disgusting. You guys miss the irony of how easy it is to judge someone in a cutthroat competition like this where the limits of your humanity are tested in every way from behind a screen acting all high and mighty.
Brett and Braxton made some snide, shitty remarks when they were exhausted, malnourished, psychologically drained, and defeated. You would too.
You also all seem to lack the wisdom to understand that all of these people are largely portrayed in the way that serves the PRODUCERS and makes the SHOW more ENTERTAINING! Okay?
So chill tf out and stop saying this guys are monsters and shouldn’t be allowed to have children and seem like date rapists. They were just normal 20 somethings wanting to go on TV and COMPETE IN A GAME SHOW TO WIN SOME MONEY! Y’all acting like you’re Jesus Christ judging these kids so harshly holy fuck get a grip.
Braxton fought hard as hell on that swim to win the kayak, and Brett was extremely useful getting the fire started when Leiya gave up (it was still a brilliant idea she had to use the binos to light the fire and he should have given her credit for that) and he crafted that bow and FIXED IT when it started cracking during the challenge.
Those guys fought hard as hell to get as far as they did. And they didn’t do any lying or shady shit like most other people on the show did to get that far.
All of you fail to see that this competition pushes you to your absolute limit and exposes your ugly side. That’s the point.
Don’t hate me LOL I can’t seem to find ANYONE who shares this sentiment, maybe I watch too much reality tv and am jaded but I thought Jill and Amber were so f*cking cool! I don’t care that they stole/lied sorry they’re on a reality tv competition show for money?? They’re not survivalists they’re women who have been treated horrendously by men their whole lives and that’s why they were cast. the whole season they’re being called psycho bitches but also in the same breath admittedly playing a great game…I liked them! I sympathized with them at least. Anyone else feel the same and having trouble finding anyone that agrees?
Why are the women in outlast act like they’re being oppressed like it the stone ages. All they do is lie, cheat, and steal…..oh and complain that the men oppress them.
Beyond the fact that they’re literally starving out there, the whole vibe of having no host, getting supply parachutes, and having to 'sacrifice' people for items totally gave me Hunger Games... Especially in Season 2, where people were just getting taken out by the elements without even having 'challenges.' And that whole thing of cheering when a flare is shot into the sky? That is literally counting the cannon fire. GOD, Maddy looks like a carbon copy of Katniss!!! (And Tonia is straight up Mags!)
I thought it was a bit strange that they referred to themselves as "females" instead of "women." But referred to the men as "men" rather than "males." Referring to women as "females" can come across as clinical or even dehumanizing in some contexts
As Javier in Season One, Episode Five, >!is burning down his shelter, we spied this water bottle in the background. Gotta wonder if after Jordan left with such serious medical, everyone had been given water!<. Hmmm.
We get reality shows, have worked on them personally, but it’s still jarring to see this at one of the most exciting points. 🙃
She wanted to align with the women then lost because a man wouldn’t stop ask for directions.
A shame, her and Pharroh were easily my favorites.
Maybe I'm just remembeirng it wrong but S1 and S2 seemed to have a wider range of ages. S3 seems almost like a 90s Real World cast. I assume the younger cast and the warmer location forcing people to wear less clothes was the producers trying to get more viewership.
Hi
Taking out Leyia was a bi*ch move by the team alpha,
Just say straight up girl you want more money.
I can't claim that I am a reality TV expert, but I do watch a fair amount, especially the survivalist, athletic, and or race reality TV show. And I love a good BTS explanation from the cast. It adds depth and reality to the story.
Nevertheless, I do pause when someone gets a "villanous" edit and they claim it was all a bad edit. That's not really who they are. But is it though?
I think it's crazy to claim that all the negative edits of you are false. There has to be some truth in the edits. Which brings me to Outlast and Ben (I am going to skip Charlie, because there's is obvious).
Ben. Now I can't speak to who Ben is in real life. I am soley focusing on his online and show tendencies. I recently listened to him on a podcast, and from my perspective I see why it may have been easy to give him the edit the show did. Ben uses a lot of "I" statements instead of "we" or "our" statements when describing the team's experiences. Here are a few of his ancedotes:
Maddy gets bit by a poisonous caterpillar and after explaining how terrible it was he says - The camera didn't show that I was the one killed them all.
Him and Maddy shot a boar - It was the best thing I ever did on the show.
Fishing - Yes, I didn't catching anything with the spear, but the next day I caught 7 fish and then I empowered the women by taking them out the next day and showed them how to fish. (side note: Half Maddy's IG is fishing pictures so this is wild)
In a sense, what Ben is saying isn't bad. But it doesn't scream, teamwork. The same podcast interviewed Nikki, and on the caterpillar incident, Nikki brags about Maddy going to scavenge for food even though she is still experiencing side effects from the bite.
When she talks about fishing, she says "Yeah, everyone (Maddy, Halle, Ben) caught fish and gutted them. We were eating well...I was upset about the spearpoint, because no else in the group knew how to spear fish. I wanted us to take the fishing trap because it was easy for everyone in the group to use."
Do you see the difference in language? Again, maybe Ben sucks at communication, but in the same podcast he decides to double down and say that Nikki didn't do anything for the team, and the girls would not have won without his hardwork. This is un-sportsmanlike and egocentric (I made a comment in another thread discussing this) because it discredits everything Maddy and Nikki, while he praises himself. Again, maybe the show did Ben dirty, but if you are saying statements like above, it is easy for the show to twist your words into the egocentric Alpha male.
Leiya - I'll keep this short. Leiya was also interview by the same podcast and at times it's heartbreaking to listen to her share her side of things. Although, I thought she had a beautiful and fair story arc, I guess she wanted the show to portray Maddy and Nikki as villains in her story. Well, sorry Leiya. Outlast: The Jungle doesn't end with you.
And I don't believe, showing a 30 minute argument would have changed anyone's mind. The small contigent of Maddy/Nikki haters would have used it as more fuel to explain how unfair their win was. I think the show does enough to show how competitive and ruthless Maddy and Nikki were on that hike/run (I thought it was an edit, but Leiya said they were actually RUNNING on that terrain and the cameraman couldn't keep up. Damn...) Leiya's Alpha arc also shows that Winning isn't as Clean and Heroic as we might want it to be. Their journey is one of failures, underestimation, a heroic save, near elimination, and then a cut throat game time decision. Personally, I love it. Imperfect Winners.
The Bravo Edit - This teams makes me laugh. I love them, but I think if Charlie's edit didn't exist, they might have gotten the villain's edit. Bravo made the most cut throats moves in the game, and somehow they come out looking like semi-heroes. Half their game actions included rejecting multiple trades from Alpha in hopes that the team would flare out.
Then they try to steal Alpah's bow and arrows and then steal Leiya shoes because of their ill-adviced game plan(s). The show barely does anything with this beyond showing Maddy yelling at them (and she calls Abby a b*tch in a team meeting. Lmaof.) and Nikki making her hero's journey speech about two faced people. The edits also softens the brutality of Pharoah and Abby's two eliminations by showing their conversations about the impossibility of creating a fire. Although Morgan's elimination is interesting. She's an OG Bravo member and their move seems to have completely blindsided her. Too bad they didn't do that trade...Oh, and Sarah steals that Charlies machetes (of that I approved). So yeah, Bravo isn't innocent either, and yet kudos for getting a Fair Edit.
I get why bravo backed out of the trade… but I feel like Charlie backing out is a wild move. Tarps are by far the least valuable of the resources. Especially a week into the game once teams have had time to stack more leaves on the shelter?
Not even criticizing them for playing dirty, i genuinely think they were getting the most out of that trade???
Team Charlie got eliminated because of Wes.
I don't think he ever shot a bow in his life, as Brett had to show him how to place an arrow. The way he was drawing it was abysmal to watch.
Brett and Braxton I'm sorry but you are either both retarded or just pussies, as Wes, the most incompetent and lazy contestant by far, somehow elected himself for this critical role and you guys were like "ok makes sense" , because he's big and grabbed the bow? Lmao
Braxton, do you really believe "this is what you were saving energy for" for the water race 😆😆 Wes seems to believe it himself somehow, and because you're intimidated by him, you two never questioned him. Guy had you climbing coconut trees without saying a word. Deserve to lose😆
I just finished Outlast: The Jungle and I enjoyed it, so I decided to circle back to Season 1 and oh my God, why did I do that?
I'm at episode 5 and I am honestly so disgusted at Alpha camp (Jill & henchmen). I mean, stealing from merging Bravo/Delta Camp. Jill absolutely knows that Javier is the strongest player. He's knowledgable and a fair leader. Javier is the biggest threat. It is childish and pathetic, the way they are behaving.
The Alpha team was so hard to watch. Intentionally sabotaging others and then whining when the tables are turned. I am glad the gals didn’t win!
I love the show. Even when people are being terrible, it's fascinating. But there's one major problem in season 3:
The strongest starting resources don't give that team an advantage.
I am talking about the Bows and arrows.
Shelter is essential, so the tarps will keep you dry. Fire is essential, so the fire keeps you warm and allows cooking.
Bows are not essential, but in reality if there were three separate tribes in dispute with each other, the bow hunters could simply shoot the other tribes and steal the essentials they possess.
Wes tries bullying you away from the coconuts? Back off or welcome a new hole. Bravo refusing to trade? No problem *knocks arrows, aims at Bravo*, give me the ferro rods, nerd. Braxton and Brett being general douchebags? Straight to the firing squad.
I'd like to mention that I'm in no way condoning or encouraging any of that. Just saying that's what would happen irl.
Thank you for wasting your time reading my brain spillage. You probably all considered this already and this probably isn't an original thought. I can feel whilst writing this that the entire post is pointless and I should probably go to sleep.
