Calcless Nuzlocke Idea
I've been thinking about the calcless discourse lately and I had an idea that's similar to someone else's that posted in another subreddit (cant remember who's atm, maybe pchal's) that involved a timer for calcs.
This isn't a judgement of people who use calcs or anything, or even a call for a reduction in that style of play at all.
I just really enjoy the play style that calcless creates personally and have been trying to figure something out that might make harder hacks possible for someone that isn't very good at this yet(me) without them, as I start to prep for my first major run.
So I thought trying a system where you have a set number or move calcs per fight/split/mon. the details/numbers would need to be figured out per rom probably, but basically you would do your fight planning as normal with a calcless run, but lines that hinge on certain ranges you could go and calc, but you'd only have a very limited number of calc redeems that would refresh after a split. maybe You could get one per month in the fight or smth for really tough fights/roms depending, idk. whatever made the most sense for the hack and kept it exciting/dynamic and also useful.
It would limit the time in the calc and even allow for earning extra calcs for doing optional fights or giving up encounters, etc. could be a really cool concept for someone who wants to do something in between calculation and calcless.
