Why do so many immigrants in Miami seem to dislike the U.S.?
I became a U.S. citizen this year after living here for about five years. Before moving to Miami, I lived in NYC and my experience was completely different.
In Miami, a lot of immigrants I've met constantly complain about America, even though they've lived here for 10–15 years. Some are citizens, some aren't, some are illegal. During the World Cup, they were cheering for almost every country except the U.S.
I'm genuinely trying to understand the culture here. Is this a Miami thing because so many people have strong ties to their home countries, or have I just ended up with the wrong friend group?
I'm curious because this has been very different from my experience in other parts of the U.S.
How Florida’s Cuban Diaspora and the Israeli Lobby Came Together — and Are Coming Apart
theintercept.comThis is my opinion as someone who’s Puerto Rican.
If you support ICE and you’re Puerto Rican, I’m sorry but you’re a total loser. I said what I said. Yes, we are American citizens, but we are also Latinos, and Latinos support each other. If you support ICE despite being Puerto Rican it comes off as privileged and you don’t know what other Latino immigrants are going through in order to have a better life. We Puerto Ricans have that privilege today, but what if tomorrow we don’t have that privilege? That’s why we shouldn’t stay quiet when ICE is separating families.
Be Honest, how many MAGA Latino family members do you have? How would you describe them?
Well? How would you describe them?
why do we associate being proud to be an american as a white thing
not saying its all but i have no idea how prevalant it is but i see it all the time in social media whenever a latino says hes proud to be american then there are memes of an indegenous man with blond hair or a person with dark skin in front of a mirror and the mirror reflects a white person and claim they want to be white and its bothering me with this community so much. being american is always white but never the asian latino indian arabs ect. also stop associating it with politics. if this is going to bother you and gets downvoted then i will see that its very prevalent. i get it, the memes is kinda funny im not gonna lie but still and its always this same guy in the meme lol
A man who identifies as Mexican(his bio says he was born in the U.S.)claims that people his age can’t afford homes because the U.S. has let in 30 million “foreigners.” He blames non-Latino immigrants instead. Thoughts? Has anyone else noticed that Gen Z Latinos seem slightly more MAGA-leaning? Why?
Well? 🤦
do we need to hold ourselves accountable?
Why is he blaming “non-Latino” immigrants for the cost of housing, when Latinos are also being blamed by others for the same issue? Is this a case of lack of self-awareness?
Why does it seem like many MAGA Gen Z Latinos are okay with racism as long as it isn’t directed at Latinos themselves?
