I've been using my R36S-V20 2025-05-18 for a couple of months now with Arkos4Clone, including some more demanding ports, e.g., GTA3 and VC, Dead Space, and also some N64 and PSP ROMs. For some of these games, performance suffers some slowdowns but in general it's quite ok.

A few weeks ago, I checked its RAM using Retroarch and realized that the device has around 650 MB of RAM. Therefore, I started researching and realized that the R36S wiki suggests that for my system I should use the K36 Community Firmware to circumvent the RAM limitation. It states that:

"The best choice for the device is the K36 Community Firmware, as the dtb files preserve advanced RAM timings, allowing the kernel to remap the RAM to 1GB."

What I don't like about this solution is that K36 was already deprecated, while Arkos4Clone, my current firmware, has been regularly updated.

My question is - how can I increase my system's RAM? I wonder if one of these options is correct:

a) There's already a solution for my R36S to have 1GB of RAM using ArkOS4Clone, meaning I need to reinstall it using different configurations.

b) The RAM limitation is hardware. Hence, no matter what I do, my system will never have 1 GB of RAM

c) I should migrate to K36 to solve the issue
