Scientists have shown that a single dose injection of DNA genetic instructions can produce weight loss and blood glucose control in mouse models that lasts up to 10 times as long as weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. This could eliminate the need for repeated dosing.

Registration deadline TODAY to testify against more forever chemicals in our water

While we've got 19 days left to weigh in on the proposal to unravel key protections against unsafe levels of forever chemicals in our water, the virtual public hearing on this proposal is coming up fast on July 7th at 11AM ET. 📝 TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY for us to register to attend and comment at this hearing. We can do so here. 📝

REGISTER TO TESTIFY FOR CLEAN WATER

We do NOT need to be lawyers or policy experts to have an impact – personal stories and concerns about the harms of PFAS on everyone who would be impacted all matter, and we can read prepared remarks. 💪🏻 Earthjustice has put together a public comment toolkit with tips on how to prepare, guidance on the proposal and how to participate in the hearing here. 💪🏿

TOOLKIT TO TESTIFY

(While we hope this is of interest to SUFS supporters, this is NOT a SUFS initiative.)

One year later: Swiss startup Sun-Ways reports positive results from its pilot project laying removable solar panels between active railway tracks!

The Swiss startup Sun-Ways has been running its world-first pilot project for a full year now near Buttes station (Canton of Neuchâtel).

They installed 48 solar panels (380W each) along a 100-meter stretch of active railway tracks, generating around 16,000 kWh of electricity annually to be fed directly into the local grid. After a year of testing with over 11,000 trains passing over them, the system has proven to be perfectly stable and safe.

Why this is pure Solarpunk:

  • Zero Land Use: It utilizes thousands of kilometers of existing, otherwise unused infrastructure without touching agricultural land or nature.
  • Removable Design: The panels can be mechanically removed in minutes by a specialized maintenance train, allowing normal track repairs to continue without a hitch.
  • Massive Scaling Potential: The automated laying machine can deploy up to 1,000 square meters of solar panels per day.

If scaled to just half of Switzerland’s railway network, it could generate 1 TWh of green energy per year—covering about 2% of the entire country's electricity needs!

The tech has already caught the attention of France's SNCF for potential future deployment based on these successful first-year results.

Ai airt and rule 6 - rule 6 is no low effort AI art. In this case it's someone elses's adaption of their own 100 page thesis into a spoof ladybug book. No new ai art was generated for this post. I am pretty comfortable stating that writing a phd thesis first is not low effort :)

on saturday, UCP volunteers completed the job. we removed the remain 15,000 pounds of trash accumulated over 5 years from the lake merritt channel in under 2 hours. that’s 31,000 pounds of trash since june 13. we’re making it a point to monitor this site every few weeks to keep it clean.

over the last 10 days, we did two major cleanups focused on a hidden stretch along the lake merritt channel, one of oakland’s most important landmarks

in total, 113 volunteers cleared 31,000 pounds of trash from this area, preventing all of it from eventually flowing into the bay and ocean.

what people don’t realize is that this dumping site sits tucked under a bridge, mostly out of sight. because it’s hidden, it became a magnet for illegal dumping over the last five years. we found everything imaginable: refrigerators, massive couches, coolants, household waste, business waste, vape cartridges, construction debris, and endless smaller trash scattered down steep embankments and deep ditches.

ALSO when encampments form in places like this, homeless residents often become the scapegoat for all the dumping around them. we spoke to multiple homeless residents living nearby, and many of them told us they actually try hard to keep the area clean. the reality is that a huge amount of what we removed clearly came from illegal dumpers, not the people living there.

this is also the result of a broken and deeply dysfunctional encampment management policy. right now, the city is basically playing chess with encampments, pushing people from one area to another without addressing the actual problem: there’s nowhere affordable or accessible for many people to go

honestly, things were more manageable before when there were de facto encampment zones where people could stay put, build some stability, and access services consistently. now we’re scattering people across the city.

we’ll continue to do our part but we this is ridiculous.

at least we prevented 31,000 pounds of trash from going into the ocean…

Billionaire wealth tax headed to the ballot in California

This November, we’re going to have an opportunity to send a direct message to the billionaires and the politicians that we’re fed up with it and ready for real change – and protect health care from Trump’s Medicaid cuts at the same time.

Last week, California’s Secretary of State certified that the SEIU-backed billionaire wealth tax initiative secured enough signatures to make it to the ballot. This proposal would be a one-time, 5% emergency tax on their assets to shore up the state’s health care system in the wake of the MAGA murder budget. Organizers offered a compromise 2% levy, which Governor Newsom, who opposes this measure, shot down. So now we’re going to fight this one out on the campaign trail. ✊🏿 Let’s sign up here to get notified of volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks and use their social media toolkit here to help spread the word in our networks. ✊🏻

A former CEO of Reddit impregnated me against my will.

A miscarriage of the pregnancy resulted in me having to go to the ER.

I believe he was/is targeting financially vulnerable women.

After a lack of honesty in a previous relationship, I was probably overly honest with him. I told him about being a survivor of abuse as a child, as well as the abusive adult relationship I survived. I believe he saw me as an easy target.

He told me he is jealous of Elon Musk and Donald Trump for having so many kids.

He said he wants to do this with multiple women, to have A LOT of kids, specifically noting trying to stay out of trouble.

He seems very kind at first. It is only after he repeatedly crosses boundaries that his character comes out.

I have been unsuccessful at getting legal counsel, even dissuaded by attorneys from taking legal action against him.

He led me to believe he would invest in a dog food company. Investment never materialized, even though he didn't want me to seek outside investment.

He told me his wife and two children are not allowed to leave the house, due to his wife's complications with long covid. He and his live-in girlfriend are allowed to leave the house.

He keeps a separate, minimally furnished home for the purposes of meeting women for sex, I believe.
