370+ km on my Continental GT 650

Did a 370.4 km ride in a single stretch today. Had drizzle for the first ~150 km, then heavier rain forced me to stop for about 30 minutes. Still, it was an amazing ride.
Managed 31.82 km/l at ₹106/l, so the entire ride cost me roughly ₹1,233 in fuel. I was mostly riding around 3,000–3,500 RPM, which was roughly 80 km/h, and I think that’s a big reason for the surprisingly good mileage.
No wrist or shoulder pain at all, which was great. The only problem was my butt . After around 200 km, it became numb and painful, and sitting became really uncomfortable.
I was using the Interceptor Touring Deluxe seat without my usual cycling-padded shorts, just to test the seat properly. Honestly, without the padding, it felt almost like the stock seat for me.
Any tips to reduce butt numbness on long rides?

Booked interceptor 650 Cali Green

I booked the Interceptor 650 Cali Green today and it will be delivered within a month. I decided to get insurance myself because it is almost ₹20,000 cheaper than the dealership and with the same add-ons.

I was wondering if it was worth getting PPF.

Also, I thought the Interceptor 650 would have awful ceat tyres, but the dealership guy told me the new variant will come with Vredestein tyres. I confirmed this twice with him. I’m happy and braking performance and grip would be nice.

Please suggest any accessories or mods I can do.
And good bike insurance company too

GT 650 check engine light turned off on its own. Should I still get it checked?

So the check engine light on my GT 650 has been on for the last 2-3 days. I was a bit worried about it, but honestly the bike was running completely normal. No weird sounds, no power loss, no starting issues, nothing. It was riding exactly like it normally does.

I was planning to take it to the service centre today, but when I started the bike this morning, the light was gone 😂

Obviously I’m relieved, but also a bit confused now. If there was actually some issue, can the check engine light just turn off on its own?

Should I still get it checked/scanned even though the light is gone? Or just keep an eye on it for now?

Anyone with a GT 650 faced something similar?

Help with my Gt 650 issues

It's my 3rd visit to the Royal Enfield service centre & the technician couldn't identify the problem yet. Past 3-4 months the bike randomly stalls for no reason the clutch lever leaves just at the friction point and there is no engine symbol or anything else. A throttle blip sometimes stalls the bike too & it mostly happens after the bike warms up. They said that it might be a spark plug issue since i have ngk iridium installed and that it's causing misfires & I have cleaned the throttle body & fuel injectors let's see if it persists. They also said the charcoal canister might be damaged & need a replacement. Please help/dm if someone is also facing a similar issue. Let's discuss. It's 2023 bs6 e20 compliant gt 650.

Tyre suggestions

Hello everyone ,
Recently I’ve bought meteor rear alloy for my Continental. As I have converted mine to 17 inches I have to change my rear tyre as well but I’m a bit confused in these two

  1. Apollo alpha H1 150/60 around ₹5500
  2. Vredestein 150/70 around ₹8300
Which one would be better ?
    Please lemme know

Interceptor 650 brake noise after accident, no visible damage. What could be causing this?

I had a minor accident on my Interceptor 650 today. A guy on a scooty crashed into my bike.
There is no visible damage that I can see, and the bike otherwise looks fine. However, after the accident there's a sound coming from the brake/caliper area.

It sounds like the brake pads/caliper may be rubbing against the disc, and I’m wondering if the brake disc might have been slightly bent due to the impact.
I’ve attached a video of the sound.

I have 6 month service due on sept 30. Currently i have clocked 2000 kms. Shall i wait and get it checked during the service or should go and get it checked right away?

Would really appreciate it if someone could listen to the video and tell me what they think about it.
Thanks!

Need help with my Continental GT650

Hey guys, I have a Continental GT650 2023 model with 15,000 km on it. The bike is completely stock with no mechanical modifications or aftermarket parts.

I’m dealing with two major issues.
The front end moves up/down and vibrates at low to medium speeds, and above 80 km/h I get a serious wobble/death wobble. The front assembly has been checked multiple times, but the issue is still there.

At the rear, the suspension feels extremely harsh and I can feel almost every impact. The rear tyre also seems to bounce/jump while rotating, even on the centre stand. There’s some noise from the rear wheel while rotating, and the bike feels unusually hard to push. Now the mechanic is saying the rear shocks may need replacement.

Both front and rear tyres are new, and I’ve had both rims checked at a wheel-truing shop — they said the rims are fine.

What has happened so far:

I initially took it to my first mechanic. He reset the swingarm and front assembly and changed both tyres as they were worn out.

The rear still had the same issue, so the rear cush-drive/rubber bushes were replaced.
The bike was left with the first mechanic for around 3 weeks, but apart from changing the rear cush-drive, practically nothing was done.

That’s why I stopped relying on him.
I then went to a second mechanic, who checked the front assembly again and said it looked normal. He suggested I get the wheels checked at a wheel-truing shop.

The wheel-truing shop checked both rims and said they were good.Another mechanic near wheel truing shops then checked the rear and told me to go back to the first mechanic and ask him to check the swingarm again.

I went back to the first mechanic. He checked it today and is now saying the rear shocks need to be replaced. I asked him why he didn’t do it the first time itself and he says he has to do one by one only.

At this point I’m honestly very confused. I’ve already changed both tyres, checked both rims, replaced the rear cush-drive bushes, and had the front assembly checked multiple times, but the problems remain.

I’m wondering if I’m missing something and
I don’t want to keep replacing expensive parts based on guesses. What do I really do now. Parents are pressuring to sell the bike as it has become a burden for us.

I m open to give any clarifications regarding my problems with the bike or other general questions . I am facing other issues too regarding engine stalling. But these issues make the bike un-drivable.

One more thing which I didn’t understand is that my friends too have GT and Interceptors but none of them faced these many issues.

Query about warranty

I am planning to purchase a new Continental GT 650 in September 2026 and keep it for 4-5 years. If the Government of India mandates E27 or E30 petrol during my ownership, what does Royal Enfield recommend for a 2026 GT 650 that is currently E20-compliant? If higher-ethanol fuel is legally mandated and its use causes damage to fuel-system components such as the fuel pump, injector, fuel lines, seals or tank, will the damage be covered under the standard or extended warranty, and if the motorcycle requires any modification to safely use the new fuel, will Royal Enfield provide the required retrofit or parts?

GT 650 Starting Problem + “Cut-Cut” Noise After Service

Haan, service pan kal karavi hati to post ma aa detail add karvi important chhe. Updated version:
GT 650 Starting Problem + “Cut-Cut” Noise After Service
Hi everyone,
I own a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and I’m currently facing a problem with my bike.
The bike is having difficulty starting, and I’m also hearing a “cut-cut/rattling” type of noise when trying to start it. The engine warning light is also coming on.
I had the bike serviced yesterday. Recently, I have also:
Changed the engine oil and oil filter.
Changed/installed new spark plugs.
The battery is also being replaced/installed now.
However, I’m still facing the starting issue and the unusual “cut-cut” noise.
Could this be related to the starter motor, one-way clutch/starter clutch, battery/charging system, or something else?
Has anyone with a GT 650 experienced similar symptoms? What should I ask the service centre to check?
I can upload a video/audio of the starting sound if needed.
Any advice from experienced GT 650 owners would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Any way to adjust the factory clip-ons to make them more narrow

Hi all, proud new owner of a Continental GT650 here!

I ride to work in fairly heavy traffic and lane filter a lot. I find the clip-ons on the GT650 are just a little too wide and I often have to struggle to avoid bashing the car mirrors I filter past.

Can the factory clip-ons be adjusted to rotate a bit further towards the rider, so the grip width is narrower and I can lane filter more easily? I feel like the answer is no because I have not seen any YouTube guides or similar on how to do it, but wanted to see if anyone here has tried it.
