Anyone else experiencing this?

Apparently my worksite has both cohorts, A and B. My provider told me to start on the 13th and that they contacted the worksite that I will be starting on Cohort B. The thing is the worksite referral form I signed officially stated that I will be starting tomorrow on the 6th. My supervisor and provider still needs to sign my worksite referral tho. I guess I’m a bit paranoid but I’m worried I won’t be paid the last week for Cohort B since the City database has me as Cohort A. Will I still have access to the timesheet/payroll to fill out the last week’s hours?

I’m Cohort A so I start tomorrow, but I wasn’t given a start time or a time to show up. Can anyone inform me when I should show up be a I don’t wanna go too early or too late.

Anyone else not have their worksite either? My provider is LaGuardia and I’ve been sending them tons of emails since Thursday about my job placement and they’ve ignored me.

my placement for this summer is in some mayoral office thing and why is everyone so qualified??? my stomach is genuinely doing backflips thinking about how im gonna be some random teen in an office full of adults who are so qualified for their jobs.

Before I start, I am located in the Bronx and I'm doing SYEP with MMCC.

I've been doing SYEP for about 3 years now. Last summer was fun outside of the pay card scams going around. This year is a huge mess. Applying was easy, but orientation was so unorganized. I recall going into the orientation and there were lines everywhere. No one directing us to the different worksite group tables. ID pictures were getting taken the same day and they rushed everyone because the guy that had to take the photos (off a iPhone mind you) was clocking out at 8PM and it was 7:50PM by the time they rushed everyone.

It seems like the employees at MMCC don't know how to do their job in a timely manner yet I'm supposed to believe these people live in NYC? pfft. Not to mention their lack of professionalism. It's a bunch of 20-something men and women that don't know how to do anything. To me it seemed like they needed SYEP more than us.

Then you had to book an appointment for fingerprint scanning only for the one location to be at 36th St during office lunch hours the next day. WTH? After all of that, My worksite (Marble Hill) had the worst communication ever. They aren't open on Fridays and texted me 20 minutes before they close on Thursday that my papers I gave them 4 days in advanced had not been cleared and I would be working 6PM-11PM. What little kids are in summer camp at that time?? Not to mention they already told my SYEP group that when you are given "the late shift" they will send you home and you wont be paid. Its a bunch of BS.

I tried contacting MMCC but they claimed they aren't changing worksites at the time. Ridiculous corporate answer. Mamdani needs to shut them down.

Parents don't want their kids stuck in the house all summer and yet these youth programs cant even provide and work with the youth like they're supposed to. My plans to do SYEP next summer are officially cancelled thanks to the impression they left off on me this year.

First I was told DYCD made every remote job limited to 3 weeks only. I selected one remote job and two retail jobs as my top 3 and somehow got into NONE of them. My provider (Infinity) sent out an email yesterday saying I need to pick 2 new sites and when I give them a response I’m just ghosted.

I turned down 2 job opportunities because I was accepted into the program early but if I knew this bs would happen I wouldn’t have waited till July to work. 😭

Am I cooked if I still have no worksite due to my provider not emailing me about anything regarding my worksite placement

I'm supposed to be starting tomorrow on the 6th, but I still haven't received any information on what worksite in supposed to be attending. I've sent multiple emails, and called my provider and only got back a while ago saying that they were still getting to people... I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I already sent another email on the 3rd about it again, no reply still.

My provider is Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation

Is anyone else having trouble?

I previously made a post about the lack of organization from SYEP regarding orientation dates and how unfair it was for them to send the orientation sign-up link so late.

This is definitely my last time ever doing SYEP. It cannot be that hard to send an email with clear instructions that state, "Hey! Please do not fill this out until after you join this meeting!" The lack of organization has been killing me. I used up all the patience I had for this. It genuinely makes me wonder how these people got their position.

I only applied to SYEP this year because I have been struggling so hard with getting a job since my first year of college, and I need money (who doesn't?). I have literally applied to everything, and no one will hire me, not even McDonald's, because the minute I mention that I'm a college student, an email or phone call won't be received.

I will definitely make sure to secure a job or internship after this summer.

I’ve emailed all the necessary staff multiple times, and have called my supervisor multiple times asking about what TIME I have to show up to my worksite on July 6th and what my schedule looks like and no one answers. Does anyone know when to show up to my work site if my program starts on the 6th? And I just received an email from syep without time info again.

I'm having an issue with SYEP and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows what to do.

I was told that I need to submit a worksite referral, but when I log into the SYEP participant portal, my assigned worksite doesn't appear anywhere. Because of that, I can't complete the referral process. I've already checked that I'm logged into the correct account, but the worksite still isn't showing up. Has anyone had this happen before? Is this usually a portal issue, or do I need to contact my provider or the worksite directly because I know SYEP is supposed to start monday.

So I’m in cohart A and Ive been reaching out to my supervisor all week with no response my provide Catholic Charities also isn’t responding. I checked the SYEP participant site today and I noticed that the supervisor name they gave me on the paper to call and the one in the digital documents don’t match. I tried looking up the name and it pops up but there is no public contact information whatsoever. What am I supposed to do? This is really frustrating tbh

i literally just got my worksite placement today, but i have not received any email or anything about getting a metro or omny card. i’m confused, did i miss something? 😭 also i haven’t received any type of schedule like what hours i’m working. i’m working retail so do i just show up when the store opens? just very disorganized

We start on Monday and i’ve received no schedule information. I’ve been calling both my worksite and my provider for 2 weeks and i’ve been asked to wait for an upcoming email multiple times. Is there a way to formally report this to someone above our providers? I understand that this is a worksite issue, but my provider isn’t doing much to help! I’m still encountering the same issue days before my start date, so i don’t know what time to show up or if i even work that day. It’s so frustrating!!!

Hi guys, hope everyone's doing well this summer!

I took the opportunity to be at maimonides this summer but it's my first time being accept there. When filing out the forms we were required to turn in, I noticed the dress code page. Most of my clothes seem unfit (especially given most of my pants are jeans) and all my sneakers aren't black.

I stopped owning any collared/polo shirts since middle school.

Anyone that volunteered there before know how strict they take dress code? I'm thinking of borrowing clothes from other family members to fit the dress code.

Is anything gonna happen if I quit SYEP now? Something unexpected has happened.
