Hello fellow old heads,
I’ve been playing Saga Edition with a group of friends for about a decade now between different campaigns.
After some in-game developments, our GM is offering our characters the ability to make a couple Force Powers as our signature moves, allowing them to be cast at will. I’m getting a bit of analysis paralysis staring at the options.
Which Force Powers do you think would be best to develop as a cantrip?
Right now I’m leaning towards things that would usually be at Reaction or Swift speeds to try and incorporate every turn. Things like:
Negate Energy - Great against blaster fire and lightsabers, can heal with a FP
Rebuke - Good against Force users
Intercept - My character is melee focused and being able to negate a ranged attack would be great for survivability.
Force Shield - Essentially more DR every round
Battle Strike - Increased melee damage every round
Vornskr’s Ferocity - Same as above but potentially better
Shatterpoint - Great for CT track damage
Fold Space - Stuff can get real weird in space combat with this plus some talents from the Aing-Ti monk tree
My play group has been playing 5e for 10 years now. We've bounced DMing around, but one particular player, here called Manfred, got stuck on forever DM duty because he's a nightmare to wrangle as a player. Not that Manfred is bad or impolite, but just way more an out of the box thinker than everyone else at the table so he sends parties on endless tangents. He is, as one of our mutual friends put it, an "ADHD Goblin". This has to do with SWSE I promise.
So Manfred is given the responsibility of DM and he takes to it really well, however in the past few years our campaigns have turned into almost entirely shopping. If we have a 4 hour session, 2 hours of it turns into the endless loop of:
Manfred: "There's a magic item shop"
Player: "Do they have [item]?"
Manfred: "No. They have [useless 4th wall break trinket], though."
Player: "What do they have?"
Manfred: "What are you looking for?"
And then he initiates RP as a shopkeep or other shopper. That takes another hour.
We've had one particular campaign, for which Manfred has done EXTENSIVE homework. He's got like 10 years of events planned out. We've played 6 months over the course of 5 IRL years because ALL WE DO IS SHOP. I've talked to him about it, he denies that it's a problem. Whatever. It's not like we're the main characters of a save-the-world plot or anything more important than shopping.
So, to take a break I suggest we play SWSE. Manfred has been itching to be a player and I want to GM. All of us in the group are really into old EU star wars stuff from way back so it's a great fit. Manfred makes a great character, and I pick an era that will give him and the other party members plenty to do.
He does a quest, gets some credits and then goes shopping. That's fine, everyone needs gear. And then he flies to another planet and goes shopping. No big deal, maybe he's looking for something unique.
Manfred: "Do they have environmental housing for computers?"
Me: "Yes, you're on an industrial planet, any unrestricted consumer good you could get there."
Manfred: "Do they have comlinks?"
While my other players pick their noses.
So, I tell him that moving forward just come up with your shopping list out of session and I'll go through it and let you know what they have. Manfred does, I do. He gets some adventuring equipment. Liquid cable dispensers, tools, computer supplies and a GONK droid. We start up the next session.
Me: "Manfred comes back to the party with a crate of goods followed by a GONK droid. What's your next move? You have that lead you were tailing, or you could look for more information."
Manfred: "Do they have a music store?"
Oh my stars. Oh man. Ok, stay cool.
Me: "Do you really think it's wise to linger here? [Other player] is hiding from ISB agents who are actively searching for you."
Manfred: "Yeah, I'm looking for Modal Nodes CDs."
I'm fully convinced that this is what Manfred thinks fun is. He is entirely serious about all of it. He just likes RPing in stores. Is this normal? Am I the weird one? He's not a slouch in combat, he RPs nicely with NPCs. He just really really really likes stores. I feel crazy. The easy-listening has permanently scarred my brain.
So i have been trying to get into this game, mainly learning about Character creation and stuff related to it, and been using the wiki a lot for that kinda stuff so i was wondering
With the custom droid option for race, it says i get 1000 credits to spend on additional systems and accessories and the wiki leads to the page for that kinda stuff but i noticed a lil thing, there aint anything on integrated weapons, like wrist blasters like the one on the b2 (which from what i have seen is a playable droid) or anything like that, so how exactly does it work for my droid character to have built-in weapons like the ones on a b2 or droideka
I'm playing as a jawa scoundrel, right now lvl 1, 4 in dex, -2 in str and 1 on the others. Heavy blaster pistol with a scope. I'm planning play as stealth sniper, maybe assassin as prestige. Do you guys have ant tips for a novice?
With star wars zero company coming out and all theyve shown do you think with a bit of tweaking,
toolkits added, and moves programmed in you could possibly take the bare bones of zero company and make a SWSE video game with a DM and players?
there's a lot of programming involved but if someone can make a spreadsheet covering SWSE surly they can make a video game edition.
the DM gets tools and edits maps creations ect
players get character creation and can choose weapons moves and abilities ect.
what do you guys think???
Olá pessoal, quero começar a jogar RPG com um mestre e quero usar a Saga Edition por causa do meu amor por Star Wars. Gostaria de saber quais dicas vocês dariam sobre o sistema ou sobre o jogo em geral.
