Charges dropped against Santa Barbara Anti-ICE activist - District Attorney afraid of defendant's discovery powers - Corruption by US Attorney's Office

Original Story: https://www.independent.com/2026/06/04/case-dismissed-against-santa-barbara-activist-arrested-for-slashing-ice-tire/

When charges were dropped against a SB activist who slashed ICE tires, ask yourself why: "Local legal experts have also speculated that the government dropped Randmaa’s charges over worries about what the case could reveal. As part of his defense, Randmaa would have been entitled to discovery evidence around his arrest, including body camera footage or other documentation of the ICE agents’ activities that day. Agents had been spotted in Ventura and Carpinteria earlier in the morning."

SB District Attorney and SB sheriff

Has anyone had a “good experience” reporting a SA/DV issue recently with our current DA? I’m the third woman to come forward about my ex with a mountain of evidence and they still told me “not enough evidence to prosecute”. And that is with him admitting to the SA.
Also the detective assigned to the case would never call me back and I’m just finding out she gave me incorrect information so I was unable to get him served. I’m hoping that was a mistake but with the current OT scandal and how poorly I’ve been treated by both the DA, DA victim witness and the sheriff…. It just has me thinking is our county that corrupt or do they just not care about the civilians that report?
It took a lot for me to come forward and being treated like this just really sucks. Is it just me or does the DAs office just give a pass to rapists?
