A long while back r/deadmau5 had done a series of posts where the community would vote for the best track by deadmau5 that begins with each letter of the alphabet. At the time, deadmau5 had not written any songs beginning with Q and Joel himself made a comment suggesting it was time to produce a Q track. Thus we later on got the track Quetzalcoatl from the boss, and since Spotify has given us so much more control over mixing parameters, I felt like breathing some new life into this old playlist. I also felt like doing it because deadmau5 is my all time favorite artist to ever exist, and it's about time I start making more mau5 playlists. As far as I remember, the community did not vote for any tracks for the letters Y and Z.

- this sub is oblivious to this for some reason but automatic beat matching (not the Auto mix, the algorithm the tries to align 2 tracks according to their detected grids when you drag them around) and the grid detection have been broken for a while now so most of the "mixing" was done manually with "ms shift" arrows. this is especially true for "busier" tracks (just look at the grids it produces, they look like crooked, broken fences with random gaps) and 16-bar transitions where the mix starts to "drift" after the 8 bars (unless you try to fix it manually which is not always possible). 8-bar transitions or simple drum outros suffer less but that's not the point.

- the mix uses all available tools of the Mix Style Ver. 6 (that's available through desktop developer options, mobile still uses Mix Style Ver. 4 officially) like customizable curves and even the Effect tab that only available on desktop that now applies the effects even to mobile transitions when saved.

- although bpm/speed change option has been available to me 3 times now (they like to take it away) i don't find it particularly useful because even for the tracks that are 109 bpm when they are changed to 110 bpm it still doesn't allow for 16-bar transitions.

- even though the mix is a tribute to The Haçienda, a legendary nightclub in Manchester, England, that existed from 1982 to 1997 and was backed by Factory Records and the band New Order, all tracks are contemporary that keep that spirit alive.

What limitations do you currently see in Mix, AutoMIX, CrossFade, and similar features? Are there any capabilities you feel are missing or areas where they don't meet your needs?

Made a long seamless mix built around groovy club house, classic pressure and smooth late-evening flow. Handcrafted and well-curated with attention to detail to create a smooth symphony instead of 2u43m likeminded tracks in a row with smooth transitions. Feedback most certainly welcome!

It starts warm and steady, then moves through more clubby sections without turning into big-room stuff. Good if you have people over pre- and after a party to let the room settle into a long, house-driven groovy flow.

This is my new Italo House mixed playlist, designed as a sequel to my Balearic Beat playlist (Electric Nights 3). It's about 7 hours long.

Nearly all the tracks are from 1988-1992. It's on the deeper end of Italo House with songs by Jestofunk, Don Carlos, Mr. Marvin, Korda, Sueno Latino, Optik, Outphase, Nikita Warren, Leo Anibaldi, Be Noir, Keytronics Ensemble, Soft House Company, Centric House, Riviera Trax, Subway Ground Master, M.C.J, Love Quartet, Nomad, Dreams Unlimited, Jacy, Arkanoid, FPI Project.

Used the following editing tricks:

- Re-editing tracks using 2 copies of the same track.

- Mixing between original and remixed versions.

- Custom 16 bar transitions and harmonic mixing in the vast majority of cases. Some 8, 4 and 2 bar mixes with the odd slam.

- No fades despite a 25 BPM delta across the mix.

Also used two new features.

- BPM song adjustments across the mix. This has allowed me to change the energy of some tracks and even change their genre in 1 or 2 cases. It's also allowed me to make the playlist even more seamless and more historically accurate (Korda and FPI were never played at 120 BPM for instance).

- Use of custom Filters, EQ and Volume.

My first real attempt with the mix feature, not a DJ so there is that.

Put together a new DJ style playlist focused on deep, driving house with a proper late night feel.

Was super excited when I got this booking as the Krackfree soundsystem is one of those sound systems that made me rethink life :) figured it would be dope to bring a bag of house with dub influences to showcase the width & depth of the genre to an audience that might expect something completely different from this stage / DJs playing on the system that night.

Here's my mixed Spotify Balearic Beat Playlist. 100 or so songs. It's a mix of Soul, Ambient, House, Deep House, Indie, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock and Latin and designed to simulate the feel of 1990 Ibiza.

If you're missing that Ibiza sunset energy right now, this one might hit the spot. Or perhaps the weather's sunny and you just want to chill outside, then this could do the trick.

Tracks by Sade, Prince, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, Carly Simon, Chris Rea, Mandy Smith, A Tribe Called Quest, The Stone Roses, The Cure, Omar, Saint Etienne, Soul II Soul, William Pitt, Backbeat Convention, Tullio De Piscopo, BBG, Electribe 101, 808 State, Sueno Latino, Don Carlos, Pineapples, Frankie Knuckles, Adeva, Turntable Orchestra, Phase II, & N'Joi.

All the blends are custom 8 bar or 16 bar despite 60 BPM delta across the mix. I've worked hard on mixing them harmonically and tried to push Spotify's mix engine as far as I could.

- Created re-edits of tracks to make them more mixable.

- Mixed between 2 tracks (original and remix) and cued them at the same point to double up vocals.

- Mixed between Hip-Hop tracks and the track they sampled.

- Simulated scratch mixing.

- Used Spotify's +-10% pitch lock to deliberately speed up and slow down tracks with hopefully interesting effects.

- Used drum breakbeat loops when it was hard to mix harmonically and cleanly.

The last one went REALLY WELL. Let’s try Kashmir to Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Shoot for 6-8 songs, don’t worry about genre. I’ll get to work on mine now…

The assignment: Using Spotify’s mixer, start with Life on Mars by Bowie and end with Sweet Jane by Velvet Underground. Use at least 6 songs (any genre) between to transition and try to make them seamless. Upload them and we’ll see which one gets the most votes

This is one of the first playlists I mixed when Spotify rolled out MIX. I was listening to it today and--for one of my early ones--it's quite nice. I really like the track selections and the mixes are clean considering there were some delicate song choices. 87-114 BPM.

I posted my 1st mix here a few months back and got some good feedback from the few who checked it out. I'm back with another, the styles jump around a bit but it's mostly synthy, funky, lofi house grooves.
