Spotify Ignores Camelot Harmonic Mixing and Marks Compatible Transitions as Incorrect

Spotify incorrectly marks this transition as incompatible, even though both tracks share the same Camelot key (“8A → 8A”) and the BPM difference is only 5.

For DJ harmonic mixing, Camelot compatibility should be the primary factor, not genre classification or overly strict BPM validation.

At the moment, the system appears to ignore basic harmonic mixing principles and flags musically compatible transitions as incorrect.

If Spotify wants to properly support DJ workflows, transition analysis should take into account Camelot Wheel compatibility, a realistic BPM range, and standard harmonic mixing principles.

Currently, the logic seems to rely more on genre-based analysis than on actual DJ mixing theory.

One of my closest friends asked me to make the afterparty mix for her wedding and I may be overthinking every transition now. Quite nervous tbh! 💍🎉🪩

Hello there!

Bit of a different one from me.

One of my closest friends asked me to put together the afterparty mix for her wedding, specifically those two strange hours where all the guests are still around, everyone’s dancing, and somehow the flow suddenly feels incredibly important.

There’s a lot of personal history, inside jokes and emotionally important tracks in this one, so I’m not really changing the tracklist anymore. At this point I’m mostly obsessing over small sequencing details, pacing, phrasing, transitions and overall continuity.

It’s probably the clearest example so far of what I mean by “Party Flow” mixing — less focused on strict genre coherence, more on whether the set still feels socially believable from moment to moment.

Curious what people here think, especially regarding tiny technical details that may start bothering me later once I can’t change anything anymore.

Soulful House 90s & 00s - Angel Deelite Vol. 2

Hello everyone at r/SeamlessSets, I hope you're all well and having a great weekend so far. 🙂

It's another tribute to Angel Deelite, an awesome Soulful House club night that ran 20 ish years ago in Manchester, UK. Like the first installment, it's a who's who of Soulful House from the late 90s and 00s. Here it is and it's the first time I've shared this publicly:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5gyVRoCmE4rAyvCPGMfxC8?si=ommUlV23QXip6Rocuh2v7w

As I loved Angel Deelite so much, I've put a lot of effort into editing this to give it a live/DJ performance feel. I hope that comes across. I've pushed the mix engine very hard and some of the tricks are as follows.

- All 16 bar custom transitions (mainly harmonic).

- Used tracks with additional acapellas in them to simulate 3 and 4 deck mixing.

- Track overlaps during the mix window to create remix type events.

- Doubled up vocals and extended vocal hooks.

- Created custom re-edits of tracks and recontextualised them by using multiple edited down versions.

- Mixed between original tracks and remixes. Cued in the exact same points or very similar points and used the centre bass swap as a cross fader so it's very difficult to tell where the blend is.

- Exploited ghost transitions.

- Fixed transitions with data anchor points etc.

Tracks by MAW, Joey Negro/Dave Lee, Urban Blues Project, Jasper Street Company, David Morales, Kings of Tomorrow, Barbara Tucker, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Soul Central, Moloko, Sunkids, DJ Sneak, Simpson Tune, Grant Nelson and many more.

Dance Classics 90s & 00s

Hello everyone at r/SeamlessSets, I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. 🙂

It's been over 4 months since I originally shared this and I've since made some enhancements/alterations to it so thought I'd share again.

It's a dance classics mixed playlist sequenced to be a recreation of a night out in Southport, UK in the late 90s to mid 00s and so it's a proper trip down memory lane for me.

It's a 10 hour playlist (trimmed songs by 2 or so mins on average) so quite long! The beginning of the night starts off at BarNon which played US Garage and Funky House. The rest of the playlist is devoted to French Filtered House Progressive House, UK Hard House, Euro NRG, Hardcore & Trance which would have played at Astoria/Bliss and Colosseum nightclubs. There's also a sprinkling of Electro House and EDM which would have played at Zebra Square a few years later.

Put a lot of effort into mixing this because I wanted it to feel like a live set on 2 Technics. Here's some technical info:

- 151 custom 16 bar blends, 10 8 bar blends and 2 fades despite a 30 BPM delta across the mix.

- Mixed harmonically.

- Used drum loops when I wasn't able to mix cleanly.

- I've overlapped tracks in the mix to create remix type events.

- Created re-edits of songs and recontextualised them.

- Extended vocal hooks and overlapped vocals so 2 people are singing in the mix window.

- I've mixed between original tracks and their remixes at similar/same cue points so it's very hard to tell the join (The Veldt - The Veldt Cinema).

- Utilised Spotify's pitch lock, EQ and ability to create ghost transitions.

- Used a rain track to extend the intro on N-Trance - Set You Free.

I hope you like it and feedback is always welcome. 🙂

Tracks and remixes by Ultra Nate, Madison Avenue, Bob Sinclair, Armand Van Helden, David Morales, Paul Johnson, Alan Braxe, Bizarre Inc, K-Klass, Ultra Nate, Deep Dish, Roger Sanchez. Allison Limerick, E'Voke, Fedde Le Grande, The Shapeshifters, Tall Paul, Camisra, Mousse T, Moloko, Modjo, Wamdue Project, Strike, Loveland, Happy Clappers, 2 Funky 2, Greece 2000, Chicane, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Robin S, Stretch n Vern, Todd Terry, Mory Kante, Hardfloor, Gat Decor, Gala, Dario G, Nalin & Kane, Paul van Dyk, Gouryella, System F, Darude, Baby D & N-Trance etc.

2026 NuDisco/House mix : Updated

Been building this mix since February, and after taking a break for a couple of weeks, it was time for an update. I added quite a few new tracks, and rearranged and shook it up a bit to keep the party fresh and vibrant. 🕺🏻

94 tracks in total I believe. When it hits a 100 tracks, I’m going to start part 2. 🧘🏻

Made a house mixtape with smooth transitions — also trying out the new Spotify playlist theme 🎧

Been curating this playlist for a while now and finally got it to a place where it actually flows like a proper DJ set — no jarring key changes, energy builds naturally throughout. Just set up the new Spotify theme visual for it too, curious how it renders for you guys.

Always updating it with new finds — drop your suggestions below, genuinely open to adding tracks if they fit the vibe.
