Hell Motel 2 - The possible reasons why we're getting it.

Hell Motel 2 - The possible reasons why we're getting it.

As many of you, I've been curious as to why we're getting a second season of Hell Motel instead of a new Slasher story (whether under the name Slasher or rebranded under another name like Hell Motel was for Slasher season 6). And here are the theories I've had in mind.

Theory #1: the pessimistic theory

Shrudder and/or Hollywood Suite thought Slasher wasn't bringing enough viewers. Therefore, the rebranding of season 6 under the Hell Motel title wasn't a creative decision but a marketing obligation from Shrudder and/or Hollywood Suite.

Someway somehow, the views for Hell Motel were considered decent, and Shrudder/Hollywood Suite greenlit another season for Hell Motel, but not for Slasher, forcing the creative team (and the fans) to be stuck with the motel setting.

Now keep in mind this is just a theory. I have no concrete evidence of Hell Motel having done better than the previous seasons of Slasher (nor do I see any reason why it would have). But if it's true, it sadly means that Slasher is done, and that Hell Motel is the last branch of the tree that will be kept alive for now. 😞

Theory #2: the creative theory

It's also possible that - no matter why the Hell Motel rebranding happened in the first place - the creative team, while working on Hell Motel, got inspired with another story centered around a motel. Someway somehow, this story got fleshed out quicker than any other Slasher story they may or may not had in mind at that time, and they decided to keep the Hell Motel name because that's what made the most sense. 🙌

Theory #3: the optimistic theory

What if the creative team had, from the get go, more than one motel story to tell, and that's the reason why decided to create the Hell Motel spin-off in the first place? And what if, at the same time, they still had other Slasher stories left to be put on screen? Maybe creating the Hell Motel side series was a way to have not one but two brands to keep alive, meaning we might get one new season from the Slasher universe every year? 🙏

Of course, we will never know for sure until someone from Shrudder, Hollywood Suite or the creative team comes front and has the transparency to tell us. But these are the theories I have for now.

are the first 3 seasons predictable or am I a genius

Kidding obviously but I have the red flag tendency of constantly trying to guess twist endings in shows and movies. I just started watching this show. I had already seen season 1 awhile ago so I don’t remember if I found it predictable but season 2 I guessed the entire ending with wren/owen being imaginary and her being the killer within like 3 episodes. I still enjoyed watching it and every time I saw wren on screen just confirmed my theory because they always tried to make it seem like he was contributing to the convo when they really weren’t talking to him ever. I also get way too much satisfaction when I guess these endings right. I will say I knew almost immediately that Owen was gonna be somehow involved and wren was the only one who could be him. I didn’t figure he was imaginary until I saw that letter and noticed how weird his dialogue was. It really solidified he was a figment of her imagination when Antoine saw them in the kitchen and talked with her after. Bc it seemed obvious he saw her talking to herself. Although i didn’t expect Andi to be the first to go and for Glenn to assault Noah. I was also surprised to learn Noah attempted to assault tal. Anyways im binging season 3 now and was able to guess the killer by episode 3. Mainly because process of elimination and then some ppl were obvious red herrings. I’m wondering if the other seasons are less predictable or if I just watch too much tv and can pick up on the clues lol.
