Stains on wood floor new apartment, need help

Just moved into a new flat (rental, so I really can't afford to mess this up) and there are these discoloured patches across the wooden floor. We already reported all of them. No idea what caused them — they were already there when we got the keys. The previous tenants seemed grubby.

Image 4-6 for worst stains

What we've tried so far:
- Hot soapy water — didn't really touch them
- Elbow Grease on one stain — worked really well!

The catch: the cleaner was nervous about using Elbow Grease on the rest because she said it's quite strong and could potentially damage the wood if used more widely. Since it's not my floor to ruin, I want to be careful.

I’m in the UK so uk only products please:) I normally use baking soda and vinegar if I own the thing that is stained.

A few questions for the hive mind:

  1. Has anyone used Elbow Grease (or similar degreasers) on wood floors without issues?
  2. Is there a gentler product you'd reach for next — something that won't strip the finish?
  3. Any guess what these stains actually are?

Photos attached. Thanks in advance!

How to remove stains from polyester band uniform?

Hi all, my college marching band upcycled our old uniforms into these AWESOME pillows for a fundraiser so I just had to get one! Unfortunately, many of the uniforms are stained. The jacket cover comes off and is washable. I believe they may be oil or food stains, but I haven't washed it yet because I think it needs spot-treatment and I don't want to soak the stain in any more. Please help!!

Advice for removing ink stains?

Not directly related to a gaming item, but it's gaming merch and part of my Nintendo collection, so I thought I'd try my luck here.

I recently bought and finished this Pokémon puzzle, which I planned on framing. In the process of gluing the finished puzzle to a solid backing, I wasn't careful and accidentally made some black stains on it. I'm not 100% sure what they're from since I use a lot of different art supplies in my office, but there's a good chance they're from black lino print ink or acrylic paint.

Any tips on how to remove them safely?

I've already tried the following :

- nail polish remover, but as you can see in the first picture, I quickly stopped as it was also removing the actual image. I know, rookie mistake.

- sanitising alcohol (70%), didn't do anything

- soapy water, didn't do anything either

If anyone has any tips it'd be greatly appreciated 🙂

How to remove this big stain

This outfit was brand new and so expensive too. I put some type of cleaner in my cloth car chair and on a road trip. I got out and noticed that they were soaked when the chair was dry when I got in it I’m so mad. I’m worried they’re ruined for good

Blue ink in beige top removal help

Beige top 65% poly 35% cotton. I did not catch a blue pen that was in a pocket and it exploded in the dryer. I’ve been soaking and flushing the spot with 70% isopropyl. I was getting a lot of ink out at first, but the success is dwindling and the stain is still very present. Is there anything more I can do? Or is the garment done for?

How to remove stubborn stain from Quartz Countertop?

There’s a large dark stain on my white quartz countertop near the faucet, probably due to dirty wet object left for a long time on top. Any clue how to remove it?
I’ve tried several products; bleach, vinegar, lime, baking soda, the pink stuff, bar keepers, dawn powerwash. Help!

Does anybody know what these stains could be and how to remove them?

I just washed these clothes in my building's laundry machines. These shirts came out with these stains. They did not have them before. One of them is a brand new shirt- never worn.

The first pictured shirt is 70% cotton 30% poleyester. The second- the brand new one- is a blend of 35% polyester, 31% viscose, 30% microfiber, and 4% spandex.

Someone in the r/laundry subreddit said it was oil, but they didn't recommend any removal techniques, so I thought I'd try my luck here. They both went through the dryer before I noticed them. I tried a Tide Stick, which offered small but minimal improvement. Is there anything I can do???

White chair

Hey so any suggestion as to how to get this out? I just got this chair... It was from a black shirt... it bled onto the seat when I got up it was there. Was even in my nails too when I was adjusting my shirt.. I tried soap water, magic erasers and alcohol whipes. None of those worked. Very sad I spent alot of money on this chair for it to look like this already. 😔 this chair is leather

I need help

So I think either I slightly bled through the back of a pad or my brother got something on these but I’m leaning towards I accidentally bled through… the thing is they aren’t mine and I didn’t know until now that they’re crazy expensive for sweatpants. Can someone please tell me how to get this out at the very least make it majorly less visible. And no I haven’t told her yet because she kinda forgot that I have them but I mean worst case I have to buy her a new pair. I will say I have washed them but that’s it. The tag says it’s 80% cotton and 20% polyester.

Update: thank you to the people that suggested the peroxide and the oxyclean I somehow managed to actually get it all out 😼

Grease (?) stain removal?

I ordered this higher-end sweatshirt with stains for cheap secondhand. I don’t have it in my possession yet, so I can’t take better up-close pictures, but any initial thoughts on how to get these stains out? Sweatshirt is cotton, stains I would guess would be some kind of grease?

Is this dried blood?

I hope I didn't bleed through my pajamas somewhere too.. it won't come out if it's already gone thru the dryer right? I just noticed it. On my cotton bedding

Tide to-go pen stained my white shirt yellow

I noticed I had a stain on my shirt so I applied the pen. I was walking around in the sun, and then I looked down and noticed my shirt was yellow. The original stains were gone, but now there’s a yellow ring around the areas I cleaned. I haven’t done anything to them yet since I’m still outside wearing my shirt. This is my favorite shirt and a rarely ever wear it because I’m scared to stain it. Please please please help me 😢 please…
