Got very lucky with my free ticket experience, thanks Stern Grove.
I’d call it beginner’s luck! This was my first time, as well as the first time for the other nine people I came with.
I made it to the Sloat entrance by 7:15 am so I was in the first group to make it down to the grove at noon for that entrance. And what did I find when I got there? The grass by the stage already fully taken…
I saw in another post how about 30 yoga attendees snuck in early to snag a spot. Just so frustrating how the people working / volunteering can get it so wrong on the finale weekend. Plus the priority line was like 40 people long too! Longest I’d seen it this season that’s for sure.
Let’s not forget the banner they started implementing at the Sloat entrance that reaaaaallllyyyy slows everyone down. I think I’m going to try my luck at the Wawona entrance now!
So, today was the last show of the season featuring Al Green and Goapele and the Glide Choir. My husband is a huge Al Green fan and I also like him very much.
We bought the yoga in the grove tickets at $50 each to guarantee our entry to this event. (Yoga $50 = free priority entry)
We arrived at 10:45 am at the which was the published start time for the yoga class. We got checked in and were given a wrist band that signified that were attending the yoga class.
We were given a wrist band and allowed to go down to the meadow that had the yoga session already in progress.
The yoga class went until about 11:45 am at which point everyone got in line to go into the grove.
They checked wristbands and allowed yoga attendees down to the next checkpoint. Someone asked a volunteer if they could enter the grove at that point since they participated in yoga and he said “Yes, if you did yoga.”
So, about 30 people ducked under the narrow stanchion to head toward the grove. Security guards turned everyone back to the line as the person had made a mistake.
At around 11:58 am, we noticed that the other General Admission line was flowing into the grove. So, someone mentioned it loudly, and then we were allowed to enter the grove too.
I don’t know if they will do the yoga thing again next year, but it was a good thing for us overall.

People were lined up at 4am at the 19th Ave & Sloat Blvd entrance

This after being gifted a ticket yesterday that wasn’t actually usable. I don’t think the person who gave it to me was trying to scam in any way but it was a bummer to go there and hear the fun and not be able to go in. This is my last chance this summer and I’d be so happy to see Al.

Just like most peeps, looking for 2 al green tickets for Sunday for my husband and I. It was just our anniversary and Al Green was our first dance song. I know the tix were free but willing to give some $$ for them. We’ve never been to stern grove so this should be a treat. Thanks for considering!!
Can't use the tickets unfortunately, so giving them away but want to make it a little more interesting than the first person to respond. I've picked a number between 1 and 100. Closest guess wins the tickets. Accepting guesses until 6pm today (Thursday Aug 13) and then will let you know who wins.

Anyone trying to sell you tickets is either a) a scammer or b) taking yucky advantage of one of the city's free jewels. Every concert day - starting early in the morning - people start unloading their tickets for free on various platforms because they realize they can't make it. They post here on Reddit, Buy Nothing Facebook groups, Next Door.... please try that method before losing money to a Bad Person. Good luck!!
