Celebrating 2026 World Cup in Thailand

Celebrating 2026 World Cup in Thailand

Went in for a bottle of milk and came out with two packs of Lays as well, 8/10, not spicy hot, nice change from lobster and jelly fish flavors..

Can anyone tell me where this photo was taken or know anything about this accident?

A family member is likely getting scammed by someone they personally know who lives in Phuket. They are claiming this accident happened to them. I am trying to get as much information as possible to help prove to this family member that this is a scam.
This accident looks real (as opposed to AI), but does anyone recognize the road and where this happened?
Also, does anyone know anything about this particular accident?

Home Pro Ceiling Fan Installation experience

We are in Phuket. We have bought three ceiling fans from Home Pro including the installation service, two were installed okay, one has problem with making some noise , subtle but annoying if it is a home office. Because when they finished installation, we can't hear it, so until a week later we call the technician and ask them to come again to fix it. The technician came, can't fix it and say this is motor problem and the sales will call me.

Waiting for a week, no one called, so on Friday 5 June I complain on the hotline because only those who handle the call in Bangkok will care about expats. He said he will check what happens and will come back to me on Monday. However local Phuket Homepro called and said they can come on Sunday (7 June).

When they come, no motor, only an electric screwdriver and they aren't even the technicians we saw before. They didn't even bring their own ladder.

They don't know what happened, they cannot fix it and they tested taking the casing off and say maybe it's the casing hitting the motor sound etc. At first they don't even know how to put the casing back on, after tinker it for a bit and then they plan to ask technician to come fix it, leaving the state as is.

We insist they put it back to the state before they come, they don't speak English so we have been using google translate all along. They just say , cannot put it back, they don't know how to. Then one of them try again and keep twisting and suddenly the casing is back up.

TL:TR : It is pure luck if HomePro installation person know what they are doing. I know this post will attracting trolls to come say this is the Thai way or live with this.

We know, just want to share frustration and share with fellow expat that you are not along if things don't work out here.

Save face - politeness

Hey guys, how do you deal with service providers who rip you off? I’ve noticed workers (gardeners, painters, technicians) doing sloppy work, cutting corners, causing damage, and even stealing. Do you bother complaining, or just DIY everything? Honestly, the future of AI and robotics feels like a blessing if it means dealing with fewer people. Thoughts?

Traditional Thai wet markets, in Phuket, some recommendations please.

Recently moved to Phuket staying close to Central Phuket, the TGF likes to cook and as of yet still to find a wet market, obviously closer to Central would be better but it doesn't matter so much as she has a car, weekend open is desired as she has a 5 day a week job, thanks in advance.

Non-O 400k requirement - transferring wife’s money to my account?

As the title states, can I transfer my wife’s money into my account to satisfy the 400k balance for my Non-O spouse visa extension?

She recently sold land, so it would be easier to move that into my account this year rather than selling a bunch of stock.

I did a search on this and got conflicting answers. Perhaps it depends on the province/immigration office’s varying rules? I’ve heard some say the money has to be transferring from overseas or deposited yourself. Anyone have experience?

Home contents insurance for renters covering theft

I'm renting a house and so I'm trying to get contents insurance for my belongings.

The problem that I am facing is that seemingly all Thai insurance policies have very heavy restrictions on the amount covered for theft and burglary. E.g insuring 500,000 THB of belongings will only cover 50,000 - 100,000 THB in the event of theft or burglary.

Has anyone else successfully navigated this process and have a reasonable amount of theft cover? I'm on my 4th agent as well as my own digging and it is hard to find anything suitable.

To me theft and burglary is the #1 likely claim (which I guess the insurer is reflecting). 100,000 isn't much really. It would be very quick for a thief to steal items of that value.

Thai logic at its best…..

The signs the hotel I’m staying at that rejuvenated a tired traveler who just drove 14.5 hrs from Chon Bury to Phuket.

Out front weed shop with a door access in to my hotel, several meters away is the elevator, on the wall a notice that prohibits Durian and one other fruit with the warning of a hefty fine, scratch scratch, and yes this morning at 9 am someone’s been puffing on there pot because I can smell it, it’s comical of course, the miss bought some durian to munch on on the way down it did stink out the car but open the windows and it’s gone in seconds, pot lingers like an unwanted stray cat I got coming into my yard back home…the logic do not make any sense to me….
