Lifestyle of Government Officials in Tamil Nadu

I would like government officials(Group 1, 2, 2A, 4) recruited through TNPSC to answer these questions.

  1. What did you expect before getting postings, and what is the reality?
  2. How is your work-life balance? Are the office hours fixed? Do you have time for yourself?
  3. Can you go on a tour across India and abroad? If so, how often?
  4. Can you do trading, investing in stocks, legally?
  5. How is the office politics? Is there any pressure from ministers?
  6. Can you avoid bribes? Does the system in your office allow you to be corruption-free?
  7. Can a person study through distance learning programmes from Indian universities and universities abroad?
  8. What is your take-home salary after tax and reductions?
  9. How are transfers and promotions in your job role? What is the highest role one can reach?
  10. What are the qualities that one requires to actually enjoy the position?
  11. Many say I wanna serve people and enjoy doing that. Most Important Question: What is the reason that you chose this path? Purpose?

If you do not wish to share things publicly yet wish to answer, please dm.

Need help identifying the source textbooks for the new TNPSC Group 2/2A General English Literary Works syllabus. (check post inside)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to map the TNPSC Group 2/2A (General English) Literary Works syllabus to the corresponding Samacheer English textbooks (Classes 6–10).

So far, I've managed to map all the prose lessons to their respective school books.

However, I'm unable to find the source textbooks for these poems:

Leisure – William Henry Davies

The Power of a Smile – Tupac Shakur

Advice from a Tree – Ilan Shamir

Never Trust a Mirror – Erin Hanson

Nature the Gentlest Mother – Emily Dickinson

The Star – Jane Taylor

Memories of My Dad – Rebecca D. Cook

If anyone has already mapped the complete literary works syllabus (both poems and prose) to the source books,

I'd really appreciate it if you could share it.

Thanks in advance!

Need help learning Tamil for TNPSC Group exams

I need to learn Tamil for writing TNPSC Group exams. I grew up in North India, but I studied Tamil only until 1st grade. Because of that, I can read Tamil to some extent, but I'm quite slow. I know the alphabets and can recognize words, but I can't really write Tamil.

My main focus is UPSC preparation, so I think I can manage the general portions of the TNPSC syllabus on my own. The main issue is Tamil, both learning the language properly and covering the Tamil syllabus portions.

I can't attend offline coaching/classes, so I'm looking for online options.

Are there any good YouTube channels, online courses, or resources specifically for:

  • Learning Tamil from my current level Improving reading/writing speed
  • TNPSC competitive Tamil subject preparation

Would really appreciate suggestions from people who prepared for TNPSC or were in a similar situation. Thanks!

Study Group for Serious Aspirants

I've created a study group on the YPT app for dedicated TNPSC aspirants who want to stay disciplined and track their daily hours together.

For those who are not aware of the YPT app:

  • A study tracker app for intense exam prep.
  • Locks distracting apps on your phone while studying.
  • Features a live leaderboard so we can see each other's progress in real time, keeping us motivated and accountable
