Kasa Mini Plugs

I have several Kasa smart plugs using the Kasa app. However, they are quite bulky, so im looking for mini plugs/outlets that still work with the Kasa app. In a couple of spots the regular app is too bulky, so i need something smaller, like the Govee button plugs.

KASA HS220 and Home Assistant

I have several HS220 dimmer switches. Has anyone been able to get them to work with Home Assistant?

I am just trying to toggle them on off in an automation. But get no response at all. However, if I click the power button in home assistant for each switch they toggle as expected immediately.

HS300 power strip turned lights off early after loud pop

I'm hoping somebody can help me troubleshoot what happened and if I should be concerned/ what to look for.

I set up an HS300 power strip this morning with 4 lights plugged into it (listed below), all set to turn on at sunrise and off at sunset.

About 1.5 hours before sunset, I heard a loud pop from the vicinity of the plug (I was across the room, so I'm not entirely sure what made the sound). I turned around to see that the lights plugged into the power strip had turned off.

When I checked the power strip, it was still in the 'on' position, and the light(s) were on. I didn't realize at the time that there are three lights on the power strip next to the on/off switch (SYS; Grounded; Protected), so I can't say for certain all three were on.

I immediately unplugged the power strip, in case there might be a blown component. I unplugged the four lights from the power strip and plugged the power strip into a different outlet to see if all three lights on the power strip would come on - they did, along with all 6 outlet lights.

I can't test the power strip with the same four lights plugged in until morning because they are for my bearded dragon's enclosure, and when the lights went off, he went to his sleeping location - it would be disruptive to turn them on and off tonight.

I checked the Kasa app, and it acknowledged that all lights were off. I checked to make sure the schedules were correct - all four were set to turn off at sunset. We have other timed lights (on @ sunset/ off @ sunrise) on another Kasa plug that were not affected, and showed the correct time they would turn on.

The power strip is rated for 1875W max. The lights plugged into it were:

  • 150W heat lamp
  • 100W heat lamp
  • 24W UVB tube light
  • 36W full spectrum LED light

It is plugged into a typical home wall outlet (U.S.) that currently only has a clock plugged into it, in addition to the Kasa power strip.

I am wondering if there is a way to figure out if something failed in the power strip so I can know if I should return it or if it is still okay to use.

Thanks!
