EI Mat leave EXTENDED TYPE

Hi, can somebody enlighten me?
We chose the Extended type of mat leave which is the 18months.

I started EI Sick June 2025
My child was born August 2025

Why is the END DATE OF CLAIM is very early (May 30, 2026) than we expected?

Macklin Celebrini will remain as captain for Canada at the IIHF World Hockey Championship, with Sidney Crosby wearing an "A." That was decided after a player-lead discussion. The players wanted Celebrini to keep the "C."

How to watch Worlds 2026 (IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship) games from the US

The IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship (Worlds 2026) starts May 15! If you're in the United States like me, we unfortunately can't simply watch live from the IIHF website (1st image above). (If you're in another country, check the full list to see if some games will be available for you. Make sure you get the game pass for the group of countries you want to watch, either Group A or Group B!)

The games are on the NHL Network. The front page has the full schedule of the games they will air (scroll down).

To find where you can watch the NHL Network, click the Find My NHLN Channel button. If you don't already have a TV provider, enter your zip code and select YouTube TV, which does not carry it. Then it will show you a list of all your options (2nd image.)

Your exact list might vary depending on your location in the USA. You can then compare prices. Make sure you search for the NHL Network channel since it is usually not included with the basic option.

Sling TV looked like the cheapest option for me: $19 base plan + $11 for Sports Extra = $30 (3rd image). To find the Sports Extra option, I had to scroll down to "We have your favorite channels" and select "Show all channels" - it didn't show up in their set plans. It comes with NHL Network and NHL Alternate, which seemed safest in case they kick any of the games off the main channel in favor of playoff coverage. I can also watch it from an app on my TV.

The games end on March 31, so you only need a subscription for the next 2 weeks.

See my fellow West Coasters at 7:20 AM tomorrow for puck drop!

First game won in Worlds! How are we feeling?

It’s very weird seeing Crosby on the wing and with an A. Celebrini hustling like usual. It seems like the team is still figuring out how to work together (a player even said that in an interview, talking about how Sid and Martone just joined). It will be interesting to see how they develop.

Who else is waking up at 7 AM on Friday for the first Canada game?

Almost every Canada game starts at 7:20 PT. Being on the West Coast is killing me...
