Fresh grad here. Anong IT skills ang magandang aralin para sa future VA career?

Hi! Fresh Customs Administration graduate here, currently reviewing for the board exam. Since 6 months pa yung review period, gusto ko sana mag-upskill habang may free time.

I’m interested in learning something related to IT kasi balak ko rin mag-apply as a VA in the future. Napapansin ko kasi na mas in-demand yung may tech/IT-related skills.

May mairerecommend ba kayong online courses with certificates? Or any advice kung anong skills ang mas worth aralin ngayon para mas may edge sa pag-aapply? Thank you!

Is it actually possible to get into tech without a degree? Kinda stuck rn

I'm 20, dropped out right after high school cause of money issues at home. Wasn't really a choice, just had to start working.

Anyway I didn't wanna just give up on doing something better, so over the past few months I taught myself data analytics — did a proper course, built a bunch of projects (SQL stuff, dashboards, some Python), and honestly I'm kinda proud of my portfolio at this point.

But then I go looking at job listings and almost every single one has "bachelor's degree required" sitting right there at the top and it's honestly a bit demoralizing. Like did I just waste months building skills nobody's gonna look at because of a piece of paper I don't have?

So yeah, genuinely asking — has anyone here actually gotten into tech/data without a degree? Not looking for the "just work hard and it'll happen" type answers lol, more like:

did you have to start with freelancing/internships before anyone took you seriously

does a portfolio actually change anything or do recruiters just filter you out automatically

any certs that actually mean something without a degree backing them up

if you're in India, how bad is it really out here specifically

Not trying to be doom and gloom, just want real talk from people who've been through it. Appreciate any input, good or bad.

Losing hope on FTW Scholarship, oh well back to Datacamp — do you know of any alternatives?

I read that some applicants already received interview invitations for this year's FTW Scholarship so I'm losing hope that I'll get in.

It's my second try, so I studied quite hard and pretty sure I got a perfect or almost perfect score on the assessment.

They probably determined that there are women who need it more than me.

I self-pitied for a bit then rage-grinded Datacamp courses lol

Any other alternatives of synchronous learning classes/bootcamps to break into Data field, specifically in Data Engineering roles?

From Software Dev to Networking Engineer

Hi guys,

Recently nag re-org yung company namin at ako lang yung mag-isang natira sa previous Dev department namin.

My recent tasks were to scale down our infra due to costs, and ironically, doon biglang nag-spark ulit yung curiosity ko sa networking and its infrastructure paths.

Going full-blown AI slop na kasi yung management namin ngayon and shits really don't feel right to me anymore.

I think the ship is already sinking and I want to jump before it's too late.

The thing is di ko alam saan ako mag start, magstart ba ako sa boot camps? or self study? MNet? CCNA?

Anong mga leverage na meron ako coming from a Dev Role for 7 years? DevSecOps? Network Automation?

Saka kamusta yung market specially for career shifters? Are WFH arrangements rare?

Thanks

FTW Scholarship Pledge Fee

Hello, I’ve read somewhere na need mag pay ng 6k if may absent. Ask ko lang if that is a strict condition na no absent kahit may valid reason?

If not, sa anong cases lang pinapayagan yung absent? If may event na pupuntahan at nakapagbook na ng ticket (resulting to one Saturday na di makakapunta), pasok ba yun as “valid” reason?

may nakasagot na ba dito nung assessment sa ftw for batch 12?

hi, ladies! mamayang 11:59 pm na yung deadline. i just finished the assessment and nanlulumo ako. 11 questions lang nasagutan ko dahil sa timer. hindi talaga ako magaling sa math pero i reviewed naman. i was able to understand the lessons and parang refresher din siya sakin. okay naman yung questions pero dapat talaga mabilis ka. i guess it’s really not for me 😪 ang sakit lang sa bulsa at puso na pinaprint ko pa reviewer ko tapos di naman pala ako papasa 😭 i guess i should’ve prepared better din kasi i am working full time and demanding din yung work ko.

May tumatanggap ba ng work kahit walang TOR?

Currently looking for work po. Senior High School graduate po ako, ngunit hindi ko pa po makuha ang aking diploma at iba pang school documents dahil may outstanding balance pa po sa school. Naghahanap po ako ng trabaho upang makapag-ipon at mabayaran ang aking remaining balance.

About me:

• 24 years old

• Senior High School Graduate

• May 10 months experience sa BPO (Local Telco Account)

• breadwinner poko ng pamilya namin kaya hindi masasayang refferal nyo sakin since if matutulungan nyo po ako.

• Experienced sa Chat Support, Email Support, at Outbound Calls

• Naging Product Specialist

• May experience rin sa ibang non-BPO jobs • Computer literate at mabilis matuto

• Willing to work full-time, part-time, onsite, hybrid, o work-from-home

•not too far sa home town kopo. sa cavite bacoor me po nauwi.

Kung may alam po kayong company na tumatanggap kahit wala pang diploma o TOR, o kung may hiring po kayo, malaking tulong po ang inyong referral.

Maraming salamat po!
