EDIT: SOLVED Thank you for your help
I completed the first 7 days, the first alter is on board and we're moving somewhere after having completed the prologue, and I'm trying to figure out what it is that I am supposed to be doing in order to continue on. I've tried every room and menu and let the base roll wherever it's rolling for 30 minutes irl. I'm genuinely at a loss
I was playing this game fine earlier but I just tried to open the game and continue from my latest save and it's stuck like this.
I can hear the game playing in my headphones and the sounds of my alters finishing work, modules malfunctioning etc but no visual at all.
How do I fix this? I swear I didn't do anything since playing earlier today.
Recently I did a walkthrough of the base game in an educational centre in Moscow. It was very fun because we’ve discussed and made some game choices together. So even though it was my 4th time playing the game, I discovered many new scenes and dialogues not only with alters and Jan, but witnessed some new interactions between them.
Yesterday, one of the viewers (I guess) made a badge for all participants. They are staying anonymous, but through administration I asked permission to post that one here. I think it’s quite cool. So there you go, Reddit.
If you wonder, its description in Russian:
For walking through Jan’s and his alters path.
Here are a couple images of the Comms Room screen before and after. I'm not sure what is going on, but none of my settings had changed to create this. Anyone have an idea how to fix it? I've tried to repair the game, reset it as well, finally uninstalled and reinstalled the game. So far nothing has helped to fix this discolored screen in the Comms Room. I'm on XBox PC and have a pretty decent set up for my gameplay and content creation for YouTube channels. This Comms Room screen is the only place there is an issue like this. This is my 2nd playthrough and am recording with OBS. Any thoughts on a fix? Thanks in advance.
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to share some awesome vibes from this weekend. We currently have a massive Comic Con 2026 festival happening here in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. I decided to show up as Jan Dolski from The Alters. (though without the mustache, beard, and guitar :) )
I honestly wasn't sure if a lot of people would know the game here yet, but I was genuinely surprised and hyped! So many folks recognized the character, came up to take photos, and knew all about the clones. This game inspired me so much that I’m actually releasing a music video very soon — it's going to be my own vocal cover, and I even wrote an original third verse for it!
So getting to represent Jan in real life and vibe with other fans was an absolute blast.
I attached a photo of the fit (the iconic pink suit!) and also made a quick YouTube Short capturing people's reactions at the festival:

I would love to see your reactions and hear your thoughts in the comments!)
Thanks, have a nice day!)
I keep getting a message, about once a day, that "worker destroyed cooked meals in kitchen". I have no idea why he's doing this or how to fix it. I've tried searching here and Google and can't find anything about him even doing this, so I'm very confused...
Hey everyone! First of all, thank you for the feedback on my previous reddit post about [Jan the Mechanic post] if you missed it, definitely check it out ! What do you think of the costume and mustache? I put some effort into it! :)
The release of my "The Alters" inspired music video is approaching fast. As we get closer to the premiere, I’ll be revealing the rest of the personas one by one. And on the big day, you’ll finally see all the alters that I chose for this music video together on one base!
Today, let me introduce the brain of the Alters base: Jan the Scientist. If it weren't for him, Jan wouldn't have stayed on the planet, and there would be no awesome continuation called The Alters: Last Variable. Without his research, there would be no moving forward — he is absolutely a key character. We played around with the lab coat and some neon lighting to get that perfect sci-fi atmosphere.
By the way, I have a dedicated "The Alters" playlist on my YouTube channel. The link to my channel is in my Reddit profile bio! Feel free to subscribe and keep an eye out so you don't miss the grand premiere of the cover and my music video.

What do you guys think of this look? I'd love to hear your thoughts! And any guesses on which Alter I will reveal next? 🧬
I was watching the Q&A interview with Alex Jordan and finally figured out who the head writers for the game are - two women. I can't wait to see what they do next. I'd love to watch a Q&A with them to learn about their inspiration. Alex says that they wrote the game in English, not their native tongue, Polish. Quite a feat. They made this game what it is.

Hi everyone! Well, I'm nearing the end of *The Alters: Last Variable* expansion
Sharing a screenshot of my base's progress.
Today I'll uncover the secret of the Oasis!
Let's go!
If you’ve played it, please share your impressions—and once I’ve finished, I’ll share mine.
I've been in every one of Last Variable's biomes, cycle 7, so you know how far in I am, without dropping spoilers.
Have tested using 'Suit Upgrade 2' and 'Mass Spectrometer Upgrade'. Both have a standard time of 6 hours, unless the Physicist is researching, then it should be 3:45. But it remains 6 hours. I have also tested him on Workshop, but there he starts his builds with a reduced time to complete.
I might have taken this for a simulation of discontent, poor work ethic, but his Workshop performance is as expected, meanwhile I tested the Chemist on one of 'his' techs and there, the bonus was applied, at the beginning.
Can anyone offer insight into how one might avoid this bug.
I thought of this while playing and may be a plothole.
Ehi y'all
I came back to the Alters with the DLC, I beat it and loved it! But now I would like to clean-up the last trophies that I've left in the main game, and I would like to have a couple of tips.
I'm missing Maxwell's End - Doctor, Shrink and Guard both stories lessons - Worker's lesson.
Which could be the best possible way to clean them up fast? I have only two saves left from my previous journey, one Journey two with scientist, miner and technician and one Journey three (which should be too late for the Worker's lesson).
Any advice would be lovely!!! Thank you Jans!
Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a huge tribute to The Alters. I completely re-arranged "What If" (vocals & acoustic guitar) and we just finished shooting a full music video. The craziest part? I actually cosplayed several different versions of Jan for the shoot! It was an absolute blast (and a lot of work) bringing all these different personas to life in one room.
The video won't just be a standard cover, either. It’s going to feature Jan's original storyline combined with my own creative additions, and I even included a brand new third verse to the song!
On a personal note, I created my YouTube channel very recently and I am just starting my creative journey. To be honest, The Alters and its themes played a massive role in inspiring me to finally take this step and start bringing my ideas to life.
Since posting direct links here is often frowned upon or gets caught in spam filters, I won't drop one. But if you’re curious to see the result and want to support a passionate fan project (just by watching, dropping a comment, or hitting subscribe — no money asked! 😅), I’d be super grateful!
You can just search for "VITALITY - Alters" on YouTube and you'll find my channel.
I’ve already uploaded some behind-the-scenes Shorts there so you can catch a sneak peek of the outfits and the vibe, and the full premiere is dropping very soon.
Would love to hear what you guys think of this concept! Cheers! 🤘

It is night with glaring sunshine. I stand in the woods and look towards my house with its misty blue walls. As though I were recently dead and saw the house from a new angle.
It has stood for more than eighty summers. Its timber has been impregnated, four times with joy and three times with sorrow. When someone who has lived in the house dies it is repainted. The dead person paints it himself, without a brush, from the inside.
On the other side is open terrain. Formerly a garden, now wilderness. A still surf of weed, pagodas of weed, an unfurling body of text, Upanishades of weed, a Viking fleet of weed, dragon heads, lances, an empire of weed.
Above the overgrown garden flutters the shadow of a boomerang, thrown again and again. It is related to someone who lived in the house long before my time. Almost a child. An impulse issues from him, a thought, a thought of will: "create. . .draw. .." In order to escape his destiny in time.
The house resembles a child's drawing. A deputizing childishness which grew forth because someone prematurely renounced the charge of being a child. Open the doors, enter! Inside unrest dwells in the ceiling and peace in the walls. Above the bed there hangs an amateur painting representing a ship with seventeen sails, rough sea and a wind which the gilded frame cannot subdue.
It is always so early in here, it is before the crossroads, before the irrevocable choices. I am grateful for this life! And yet I miss the alternatives. All sketches wish to be real.
A motor far out on the water extends the horizon of the summer night. Both joy and sorrow swell in the magnifying glass of the dew. We do not actually know it, but we sense it: our life has a sister vessel which plies an entirely different route. While the sun burns behind the islands.
Original Alters is my of my favorite games of all time. I was super hyped about DLC and initially it was close to delivering the original experience. And then came pipelines, which I honestly hate. They feel janky, building them is a chore and mixing on top of a geyser is a problem of its own. They just don’t feel fun somehow, while good old electricity system still holds up - doesn’t intersect, you just connect to an extorting one, etc. Honestly, Megafluid just broke me, I cannot get to finishing the DLC. Then there are issues that just feel like the DLC is underbaked: anomalies that spawn right at the mining outpost or in the middle of an extractor, how you can accidentally cancel connecting pipeline after jumping down and not being able to continue it without wasting energy, etc. lastly, the economics just don’t do what original Alters did, with no time pressure you never have to choose between keeping your alters happy or fulfilling the mission and it felt like a core pillar or the original. Just as a heads up, lots of things were still enjoyable, it has the addictive loop we had before, interesting exploration, but it somehow didn’t deliver for me as I wished it would. Maybe there is something by the end of it that justifies pushing through, but currently I’m musing not finishing it at all.
Alex is such an awesome guy, and you can tell in this video how much he really values the fan's feedback. I can't believe he responded to some of these comments, lol.
