Man, I’ve put myself through so many first day listens of Souls’ albums. In previous releases, I planned my day around my trip to the record store. Always putting the new tunes to the car test and getting a few spins in before I got to where I was going. Now I’m a dad, up late, and can spin right from the comfort of my couch.

I can honestly say, I haven’t smiled this big after a first listen of a record since probably Anchors. Just how well everything fits; did I mention it comes in under 25min!? No time for filler. Love the unpredictable “As One”, and “Only Echos.” Always enjoy the departure the guys take on those types of songs. Clearly point to musical influences and inspiration, and I love when they do that—looking T you “Pizza Song”. I have an entire playlist of deep cuts like “Blackout”, “Like the Sun”, and “Here’s to Us” because the later catalog is chock full of dimes. I hope to hear one of them live one day. I could go on, but would love to hear what others think. Any stand outs!?

Bonus Question: Thoughts on the new album cover? I l have to admit, I had a lot of doubts because the album cover wasn’t immediately my favorite. I still wait for the day that Bryan gets back on the canvas and gives us something like Anchors. But collectively, busy dudes and it’s all about the music.
