Interpretation/analysis
When I first listened to this I thought the “mystery plane” was a UFO. Then I actually went and read the lyrics. Turns out the mystery plane is planet Earth. The protagonist of the song is half human, half alien. His daddy (the alien) impregnated his mom in her sleep (“My mom says I just appeared inside”) and left him stranded on our planet.
He doesn’t even try to fit in amongst the earthlings. Instead he awaits the return of “daddy.” Maybe once daddy comes back he’ll get to drive the UFO? (but only if he goes slow)
Retro-Americana/creature feature. Classic Cramps.
