The woman eyes were not mayday
I'm being driven nuts with people saying this. Please use critical thinking yall
How would that work? Commander Mckenzie and his wife Paula know what Becca did. Once the body is found and a murder is anonounced and Becca has just disappeared and Weston, who is Agnes fiance, can be directly asked why they're saying they didn't catch the murderer when Mckenzie supposedly called the eyes to get her. If Agnes dad really called Mayday, Paula or Agnes mentioning Becca and asking what happened to her or them asking why they're looking for an uncaught murderer is going to cause a shit show.
If Garth called Mayday, which I doubt, his cover could be blown and he risks Agnes whole family. My thing is, though, why was Daisy places with Agnes when Garth, another Mayday agent, is already there?
Now, I do agree the people in black were women which I don't believe there are eyes of. It would give a woman power aside from Aunts and Wives. So, it could be aunts coming to take her to the school for the aunts to interrogate and report back to the eyes, have her peers judge her, turn her into an aunt or a handmaids.
there are a lot of theories it could be. what it can't/shouldn't be is Mayday. And, honestly, if they go that route with no repercussions to the characters at the house that night, I'm dropping the series cuz it make no sense
Eta: Becca was straight screaming. Other gaurdians and the Martha's may have eaten her get taken and Martha's gossip per Paula. It'd get around what she did and how she was taken
Will Agnes use her Head of the Eyes husband to free Becka?
Assuming she was apprehended by the Eyes.
Episode 9 **SPOILER**
Last scene of E9… did anyone else notice “the eyes” were wearing skirts?>!!<
Did Agnes figure out Daisy?
When Agnes talked to Daisy in the last episode and she said “which makes me wonder what your intentions are here since you don’t care to fit in”. Then Daisy said she was an experiment which then followed Agnes going home and having a panic attack. So did Agnes figure out that Daisy is a spy? Or is she just confused about Daisy like I don’t know what to think and would love to your opinions!
The Testaments : S1 episode 9
I genuinely thought Becka was only dreaming when she did what she did. I kept waiting for her to wake up. Instead she goes downstairs and catches a bus. I’m like GIRL????????? Why and how?🙊🙊🙊 obviously there are consequences to this. Also the eyes came in like ninjas 🥷🏾 😹

Episode 9 Becka Book/Show Discussion
Putting some space as I don't want to spoil anything!! . . . .
This episode had me GASPING. What do you think will happen to Becka? 😔 She seemed so tiny and fragile. I know what happened in the book, but do we think her dad also did something her in the show? 💔
Also, my friend wrote this discussion/recap of the most recent episode and I'm so proud of her! I hope you don't mind me popping it here.
No worries if you don't fancy reading it, I just want to show my support 🙂 every view helps her a lot.

Curious which version of the bible they use
This is minor compared to all of the major developments of this most recent episode. I'm still processing the bigger stuff. In the meantime, I was a bit thrown off when Daisy, in her faux panic in the dentist's waiting room, was quoting from the 23rd Psalm. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, because I know He is with me." Having had a very religious upbringing, I have memories of memorizing the King James version which differs slightly. ("Yay though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for thou art with me.") For some reason, it surprises me that they would use a more modern interpretation (New International or something?). It seems like the original King James would be more their style. Are they maybe trying to portray that she memorized it wrongly because she is a novice? Or are all of their scriptures taken from a more modern version? This is the first time I really noticed which scripture they were quoting or which version thereof. Has anyone paid more attention to it than I have and noticed any patterns? Or any theories as to why they would use a more modern interpretation while being so old fashioned in other ways?
Knowing what we know now…
So we now know when Agnes confronts Garth and asks where “she” is and “I could hear her screaming” in the season sneak peek that she was referring to Becka.
I have a couple of theories for the rest of the season:
- Aunts took Becka, not Eyes, peep the dresses. I think Mackenzie did Becka a favor and either Paula doesn’t know it wasn’t Eyes or she does and she’s pissed about how this could screw up her standing in Gilead, aka the “what did you do?” Moment in the season sneak peek. That doesn’t mean that this is Aunt training, though. This could still be punishment by the Aunts. Becka could say she has a divine calling due to her comments after murdering her father, maybe she is being put through some things by the Aunts as a test to see if she stands by what she says before officially becoming an Aunt in training.
- Whether or not she becomes an Aunt yet is unclear, which makes me wonder if Becka could become the Mackenzie’s handmaid as the true breaking point for Agnes.
- I’m also starting to become suspicious of Paula and her motivations. It would not surprise me if the show takes a turn and she murders Mackenzie and blames the Marthas, which would be another thing that breaks Agnes down, as she has such a loving relationship with them. If Becka as a handmaid is what makes Agnes rebel and she is no longer eligible to be wed on top of her father’s murder, maybe Paula takes her place, or she ends up with Maddox. I lean towards Weston though, it felt like there was some tension between them that could be sexual. Maybe she intended to kill Mackenzie down the line and he Agnes so that they could end up together, but Agnes being ineligible speeds up the process, thus putting a twist on her story in the book.
- Definitely feels like Daisy and Garth are going to be matched now and Garth is going to have a hard time reeling in Daisy’s anger and vengeful streak, much like June and Nick.
- Which, given Daisy’s antics, I’m really thinking Daisy is still Nichole, idc. Who’s to say Nichole didn’t end up with the caregivers she did because Holly was too old to care for her or she died?
EDIT: scratch my Daisy is Nichole mention, I constantly forget that her book age is different from the show.
S1 Episode 9
HOLY $#!+! Has anyone else watched yet?
Anges episode 9 spoilers
Okay so I get it she's all trusting of the people in Gilead. However I really hope her "parents" calling the Eyes will wake her up and she will start thinking differently.
And how would the "father" of reacted if he found out the dentist touched Agnes too. The "mother" wouldn't of cared and would of blamed Agnes for it but do we think he would of reacted in more of a protective way?
Side note: I hope we see Becka again and not being h*ng or sh*t.
New clip of June - episode 10.

In a video posted on the shows official TikTok account, celebrating the shows renewal, there’s a clip of June reading a note that we haven’t seen yet. That means that she’ll appear in next weeks episode.
This episode was so amazing!
I am surprise it was this intense and good even tho it not the season final. I feel bad for becka tho imagine ur friend who u have a crush on is being distant and then learn what ur dad was doing.
Honestly it was a lot of heartbreak considering I am gay and it already hard to find other gay person, and when u do you have a scarce mindset that can lead to abuse especially in a place like Gileda. It hits home a bit
in becka’s defense
being a little gay girl in a homophobic society with an unrequited crush is horrible. i probably would have also married my crush’s crush just to make her feel something about me if i had that option back in high school. extremely relatable character imo
Blessed be the fruity 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Penny’s age difference
Do we know what the age difference is supposed to be between Penny and the girls? She seems much older but having been a wife for a little while maybe she has the “allure” of a grown woman and can put on a grown up face when the girls are around. But she probably struggles a lot internally especially after having lost babies.
Will season 1 end on a cliffhanger?
What is your gut telling you, will season 1 end on a cliffhanger? I'm convinced it will.
The normalization of pedophilia in Gillead
Aside from the obvious and blatant predation of the perverted dentist, these poor girls are in general being groomed to believe that grown men preying on young girls is the expected norm. They consistently refer to Commander Judd as "young", while in fact he has silver hairs in his beard and is clearly old enough to be the girls' father. Hearing them refer to him as "young" makes us aware that in comparison to him, the vast majority of perspective husbands for them are downright geriatric, old enough to be their grandfathers. The only actual young man eligible for marriage is Garth, and even he as a young adult has a clear advantage over young teenagers in terms of life experience.
It's no secret that there is an enormous power imbalance between men and women in Gillead, but the Testaments are shedding light on the astronomical age differences as well. It wasn't as evident in the HMT because so much else was going on, but it is definitely an underlying issue which the entire hierarchy is founded upon. Their bragging rights about having higher fertility rates than the norm become so sinister when the realization dawns that they are bringing children into the world just so they can traffic them. Tragic!
Any thoughts on this? Do you think this dynamic was their sick intention all along, or did it just end up that way because the society has its roots in evil and this is the form it eventually took?
I want to know Garth's Story so badly
Title. I want to know why Garth is Mayday and why he has a genuinely good heart/ wants to help the girls/ views them as people! Is it teen boy rebellion and searching for something exciting and not actually ideological? Did he experience abuse by his dad and/or watch his dad abuse handmaids that were good to him? Is he angry at Gilead for abandoning his dad/ giving them less privilege after his Dad helped to fight in Boston? I am honestly more interested in his story than any of the other characters, because why would a guy in one of the most privileged positions in Gilead, work against his own privilege? And especially work with the same people who attacked his father. Is he just meant to show that not all of the men who grow up there are morally bankrupt? Is he a double agent? God, I hope not.
Edit: Also, I need this actor in another show. He reminds me of Chris Briney with the face expressions and yearning and ernest energy
