what are we actually doing about this

i keep doom scrolling and i need to switch modes. i need to hear from other people here about what they're doing — not in a "have you donated" guilt way, just in a "what's working for you" way.

like. are you texting your representatives. are you donating to any of the state-level fight funds (families not politics in CO, no hate in WA, the AZ coalition). are you showing up to local school board meetings. are you just taking care of yourself and your people right now and that's enough. are you doing mutual aid. are you writing. are you archiving. are you staying in touch with your trans friends more than usual.

i think we need to hear from each other right now. not the news, not the think pieces. each other.

what's everyone doing

Nothing else matters tbh

Will always remember when 13 year old me started to socially transition and i didn’t feel fear about telling my mom or dad because they gave me that safe space to experiment (I came out as queer prior to that at around 11). They didn’t really understand the trans thing back then, but they still put effort to try for me, i love them so much.

Props to let's make a deal

I'm home recovering from surgery and of course watching daytime game shows.

On let's make a deal a trans woman was just a contestant and the host, Wayne Brady, congratulated her and said "You go girl"

Props to him and the production staff.

Went back to writing poetry after long a long pause

I am trans

and I have known

for months

and have never shown

I want another body

this isn't a phase

but have told nobody

in my personal space

I hate my curves

I hate my chest

I hate feeling like somebody less

I am trans, we exist

and I'm a f****** feminist

if I don't fit your world

Just let me be

but hear my words

I'll always be me

I want to be masculine

and I want a beard.

this isn't about being feminine

This is about being heard

I'll wear my skirt

I'll wear my dress

but only if my shirt

doesn't show my chest

I am trans, we exist

so stop pretending that I don't fit

I'm not her,

I'm not she

I am him

and always will be

Need some love, pls

I'm having the most difficult time accepting that there are haters who will subject me to fraud and abuse me on a regular basis. I think they may be from central TX and I just moved away. I'm in a better place now, but still, there is hate following me. In /r austincirclejerk there were people spewing hate about every progressive advocacy point you can think of and I just feel the pain. I hate it.

I love my job. I love my life. There are people I really care about and keep close that I don't ever want hurt because of me and my identity. I identify as a bi woman, but part of me is trans. I feel afraid about sharing too much and people seem to take advantage of my kindness and desire to help others. I'm struggling, I guess. Hope y'all are well.

how do you come out to people who won't be supportive?

i'm a genderfluuid demiboy, omnisexual, demi aro, and demi ace, idk what to do............. my mom and sister only know im trans and bi, and thats all they will know and all i'm gonna tell anyone, the rest of my family is probably not going to accept me but i've only told my mom and sister so far, the thing is they seem accepting? but my mom won't let me get T (explaining below) and my sister is outing me in a nice way?

My mom: told me i could get T if i did a gender therapist visit, i did that. then she said i had to do multiple meetings, i did that and kept doing it till the therapist even said there was nothing more to really talk about, and then she said i had to go to regular therapy, i tried to but they told me i had to actually have a reason to for insurance reasons and i didn't have anything i wanted to talk about, so i told my mom she had to give me a reason to see a therapist otherwise they won't see me and she said she would think of one and make another appointment

but its been 2 weeks and she hasn't and i feel like she is putting it off. she did say she was taken by surprise by me wanting to transition because, she didn't know when we made the first therapist appointment and the therapist told her without my consent that i might want to but that was in januray so i think she might be over it by now but she was says it still is messin with her? so yeah, i think she might just be putting off T until i'm 18 and she can't control it anymore (i'm 17, but my hips and boobs are still growing and binding is hard for me being that i'm allergic to both tape and binder materials)

My sister: is outing me because she has been talking to friends about me being trans and told her trans friend about me to help me and get info for me, i never gave her consent to do this and i told her i'm trans in private, legit said not to tell anyone, but she said she did it to both help me and because she said she needs to cope and talk about it because it effects her and told me i shouldn't complains because i need to know me being trans "effects other peoples" but the things is she didn't just say she had a trans sibling...she said my name and showed her trans friend a picture of me to ask if i passed....?

so yeah, idk if they are really as supportive as i think they are ...? idk the rest of my family would be pricks so yeah, what do i do about this? i've talked to them about this stuff and they say its my fault or that they will try to do better but do nothing in the end

A Trans Woman Detained in a Deadly Arizona Detention Center Refuses to be Silent

From the article itself:

Before she was detained, Saenz, 26, spent a year as one of the most vocal advocates for Arbella “Yari” Marquez, a longtime Phoenix resident locked away in a notorious ICE detention camp in Eloy, where she was suffering dangerous health complications, including leukemia, and reportedly losing more than 70 pounds. Marquez is lesbian, and for Saenz, a trans woman, the fight to try to free her was deeply personal. Saenz helped organize the campaign for Marquez, arranged visitations, was a contact for politicians and the media and fought tirelessly to publicize the conditions inside the camp, especially for LGBTQ+ people.

….

A week later, she said, after a whirlwind of deprivation and transfers, she tested positive for COVID-19 and found herself in isolation in the same detention center as Marquez — just a few hundred yards from the person she’d been fighting to free for a year and yet unable to directly communicate with her.
