Lineup at the cause looks quite incred this sat. I've never been though, and have usually had quite meh experiences at clubs in london that aren't fold. Even fold nights can be hit or miss relative to unfold.

So what should I expect?

No more to say. Just want to express appreciation for a really good party!

I tried going into unfold London today. It’s my first time going to any sort of techno party, and I was with my friends (who are all white). I was the only queer south asian person in the group and they just didn’t let me in at all while letting all my other friends (including the straight white men). I saw people from other backgrounds being let in, but I was the only south asian guy and they just didn’t let me in.

I feel like this is more than the outfit because I wasn’t particularly badly dressed (tank top, jeans, shoes, cap and cute sunglasses). My straight male friends who just had a shirt and pants and dressed super normally were let in too. My friends told the bouncers repeatedly that I was with them but the bouncers just said no and said “we decide” repeatedly

I feel that the only plausible reason I could think of why they didn’t let me in was honestly that they were racist. I promise I’m not trying to victimise myself but I just feel sad because all my other friends could just go in easily. This place is really not as inclusive as they claim to be. I just feel tired and sad that I’m always being judged or excluded for being south asian.

Edit: thanks for your responses everyone. I guess there could be a multitude of factors why they just excluded me in particular and let my other friends in, but I appreciate the responses and am glad to know that other south Asians have had a more pleasant time.

Hello everyone!

I'm a 49 year old woman who's been going to techno parties since she was 17.

I'll be visiting London this summer and see that for once, my visit coincides with an Unfold party!

I never really thought about it, as I've never had issues with getting in to techno parties in other parts of the world (Berlin, BH.. anywhere), but as I read through this subreddit, I'm seeing a lot of posts about people being rejected if they're not a cool techno, arty types. I am most definitely not that, never will be (I have been told by the teenagers I teach I have zero fashion sense), care less about fashion as I get older, nor will I lie about being there before.

I feel in other places, Berlin for example, older age works in our favour, but it's not sounding the same at Fold?

Do you think the main room w Kode9 will have a good dancey crowd tonight? Or more just standing around vibes

Appreciate it's not UNFOLD related, but the music aligns, they're hosted on a Sunday, and James Newmarch has appeared a few times.

Has anyone been to any of their events and can report back on the venue and crowd? They've had, and have, some strong artists come through e.g. Inigo Kennedy, Vinicius Honorio, The Advent, Mark Broom

So everybody Is talking about unfold, how about fold this Friday? How much Is It a beer / gin tonic? Are there good spots nearby to start the night before the club? Thanks

I personally loved it, it feels like every time I come back it keeps getting better and better!

I don’t party as much as I used to, but coming to Unfold is always worth it. I have never had bad time, I love the community this event brings together, 95% of people there are so nice you can truly let you hair loose and dance like there is no tomorrow.

Loved the canteen downstairs, was nice to get some refreshments although service was very slow, I think we waited 25+min for 2 iced coffees 💀 but that’s okay, they can improve on that!

I also quite like the size of the club, it felt like I kept on bumping into the people I’ve met before which was a very nice feeling!

Music was also top notch, didn’t really knew any DJs apart from a couple of artists, but that meant I found some new ones that I really liked!

I went twice; 5pm-3am and 5pm-close. Sunday felt euphoric, there were a lot of familiar faces I’ve seen at other events around London and as soon as I got in I felt the vibe was already there. It felt a little bit more sexual/hunting on Saturday as there were a lot of new comers (talking as a gay man, that occasionally loves to indulge into the hunt, not an Unfold usually lol). Monday felt different, it was so good but a lot more regulars and much much friendlier vibe I found.

Hats off to the lady at the loos managing the two q’s really well, shouting at people to move and get the q moving. Was comical seeing her, but the job had to be done.

But oh my god it was hooooooooot! There was points in the party that I felt like I’m swimming in my own sweat and had to keep going out to cool down. I do appreciate that a good AC unit is probably very expensive - but I think this should be one of the main priorities to improve! Especially the toilets, I thought I saw hell every time I went there, was way too hot!

I love seeing improvements in the club, but pls put the AC as a number on priority. I want to dance even more.

And also I cannot forget the staff, truly one of the friendliest team in the nightclubs in London. A very lovely bunch of people, loads of welfare team on dance floor (slightly annoying at times) but equally important to keep everyone safe, especially in the heat.

I’d love to hear what other people think, good and constructive feedback! It is one of my favourite venues in London. Can’t wait for the next dance!
