Undisclosed Heat

I took a last minute week long boarding at my home with a 3 year old female Pomski. Her profile did say unspayed so that should have been my first warning sign. I have a neutered male of my own which I shared with the owner and she didn’t have concerns.

She drops her dog off this morning and 10 minutes into introducing her to my own male dog it’s clear she’s in heat. Visible blood, excessive humping, etc. My dog is patient but it’s already getting old.

The few hundred bucks this week long stay is paying is not worth the effort of sectioning them off and frustrating my own dog. I primarily do wag so he can play and enjoy other dogs, but not like this!

WYYD? Owner is non-responsive and Wag Help Chat hasn’t not responded to my request yet. Emergency feels excessive at this point but a week of this is not going to be fun.

Thanks!

Booking 2 walks 12 hours apart instead of a sitting?

I know it’s not my place, but it seems neglectful. I got booked for a multi day walk for four days, twice a day, with nothing in between. The poor dog is literally in his crate 23 hours a day with 30 min walks 12 hours apart. i even messaged the owner and offered to come again in the middle of the day and they never responded. It just is so upsetting. Would wag even do anything about this? :(

Currently sitting for my first time for 2 puppies and idk what to do

Hey all. Im currently sitting for these 2 dogs. From 3pm-6pm. Its literally 3pm right now and I accidently pressed end and it stopped the service but im staying here.

The dogs likely havent gone pee for hours and i cant find any leashes or anything to take them outside, plus there's so much poop in a dog room thst I literally cannot walk inside without stepping in stuff. I do plan on cleaning as much up but pet parent isnt responding about the leash. What do i do?

At what point are we going to collectively leave the app?

This app and system seems to have been hastily created. It’s full of scammers and bots. Not only that but the report function doesn’t work at all.

I have reported numerous posts with wrong pet counts, sensitive info, zero info etc and they’re still up hours later. Also, where is the scammer report option? Oh, there is none.

Not only that but the fees. Absolutely ridiculous. They gouge owners and caregivers.

Tell me why you’re still on it. Please give me something to redeem it. Or please share your frustrations.

Has Wag been hiding walker notes?

I've been a Wag Walker for 7 years now and in the last few months I've noticed I can't see notes until I'm on my way to the service. Since this has happened I've noticed I've been booking dogs with social behavior problems. I'm all for consenting when it's addressed ahead of time, reactive dogs deserve just as much patience but it's been putting me in uncomfortable/dangerous scenarios.

Has anyone else experienced this recently or is my app on the fritz?

First time boarding, owner is unresponsive. Will I get paid anything?

I have a boarding for 3 days, the owner is supposed to drop him off today at my home. She’s been unresponsive and I also called and texted her. The strange thing she has a different area code from another state.

I won’t cancel it, I will wait another 3 hours that they have until they are supposed to arrive. Then I guess I’ll contact Wag Support.

Any advice? Will they at least give me a small percentage?

This is looking to be a total waste because I’ve already setup my home to host this dog

Requested a boarding that starts tomorrow at 6AM, the pet parent has requested a meet and greet and hasn't picked a boarder to confirm.

Hi,

So first off I want to say I hate the new way they do the app where you can't just get like Auto assigned to a pet parent. Like it makes it so much harder to get walks especially when I have done hundreds of walks and have a five-star rating but I feel like some of the clients are being cheap and want to pick somebody that has a cheaper price.

Not to mention they probably don't even know that wag takes 40% of what you make.

Anyways with the new app it shows how many people have opted in to do a walk. The old app which is auto assigned to somebody that requests the boarding, sitting, or dog walk. But I feel too if it's a new pet parent that's on the app and doesn't realize and if they wanted to Auto pick somebody they have to select that in the settings otherwise they have to manually pick somebody from the app that has opted in.

Anyways 2 days ago I requested to do a boarding and it was early in the morning I was the first person to do the opt-in and it says the person would like to do a meet and greet before the boarding. Well the boarding starts tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. in the morning and the pet parents still hasn't selected a boarder.

With this new app my question is I would assume that as it gets closer to the time the system would Auto pick a boarder. But that would be like within a few hours time I would assume and that would be too late for a meet and greet cuz what if it didn't work out for the pet parent with the person if they did a meet and greet within like a few hours of when they were supposed to do the boarding Plus again it's at 6:00 a.m. so it's not like they're going to be doing a meet and greet at 3:00 in the morning.

Anyways how do you go about this if the pet parent hasn't picked somebody and they have requested a meet and greet I mean what are you doing this situation. I'm sure they don't realize that they're supposed to pick somebody and instead of the system Auto picking because they haven't selected to auto approve.

Again I hate the way the new app is it used to be so much easier before you could just submit the request and within like a minute or two you would be picked for the dog walk, boarding, or sitting. Now they have all these other settings and by default it doesn't go to the pre-approved settings and you would have to like give a description on why you'd be the best fit and everything.

How much are you charging for 30 min walks?

I’ve been sitting on rover for a while but rarely got any walk requests until recently. I charge $20 per half hour walk (I take home $16 after rover fees) and I thought this was pretty average and fair. But today I looked at other sitters rates in my area out of curiosity and some are charging as low at $8!? That would only give them $6.40 for half an hour. The range is from $8-$25 in my area with most sitting at $10-$16. Just curious what you all charge for walks? (my stats here are in Canadian dollars)

How much will a 1-star review mess me up?

I just got done with a walk where I received a 1-star review because I misread some of the instructions. The parent also laid out several ways I had apparently displeased her before but had never mentioned. (Even though some of those happened because she was not always responsive but I digress)

The review knocked me from a 4.9 to a 4.7 but it is the first review to the top. Can I recover from this? If so, how?

Moved to new cities

I lived in Charlotte and had tons of services always listed of people needing dog walks. I moved to New Orleans over the summer and literally never saw on Wag that there were services needed. I just moved to Macon in GA and am not seeing any new services at all. Do you guys think this is an issue that I need to contact Wag about or is it simply people not needing services? I feel like the heart of New Orleans would definitely be an area where people need Dog services, not sure about my new city where I just moved. TIA!

Hate these messages

I hate the "you're running late" notifications when I'm doing a job that's less than five minutes away. It's like no I'm not running late, it just doesnt take me 10-15 minutes to get there. I know it probably means nothing in the grand scheme but still makes me feel like I'm getting dinged for doing something wrong when Im a few blocks away from the listing.

What would you do?

Someone wanted to take me off the app, they said wag! charged them $30 for a 30 min drop in (I would be getting $19.44) She asked how much I would charge and said $15-20. We settled on $15 with payment via Venmo. She lives 5 miles from me, is that a good price for a 30 min drop in? Or should I have been firm on the $20. She seemed sweet and I also won’t try to get over on someone but also want to make sure I’m compensated fairly. I live in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio btw.

Sitting question

This will be my first Wag! sitting booking, and I just got approved for it. I’m a little confused about how to read the booking card. It shows 12:00 PM–3:00 PM on the side, then the dogs’ information, and at the bottom it says Ends on the 26th, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.
I just want to make sure I’m reading it correctly. Am I supposed to arrive on the 24th between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM? I want to be absolutely sure so I don’t show up too early or too late.

Leaving Wag

I know this is probably the billionth post with a similar grievance, but figured I’d share my experience and hopefully receive advice on if there’s anything further I can do.

I was supposed to walk 2 dogs yesterday evening. The walker notes said the dogs both demonstrated some aggression but did not mention anything about bites. I’m used to caring for reactive dogs so I assumed this would be manageable. The owner lived in a high security apartment, and stated that the “doorman would let me up”. Once I arrived, the front desk seemed very confused and attempted to contact the owner multiple times to get confirmation that I’m allowed entry, and were unable to reach her. After ~15 minutes she finally responded and they took me up.

Once I tried to enter the home both dogs were barking nonstop and clawing at the door. I was eventually able to get inside, and the larger dog (probably 90lbs) kept jumping on me and pushing and was obviously not trained, but this was manageable. The other, smaller dog sprinted away and hid on the couch. After leashing the larger dog I tried to leash the smaller dog. He was growling, snarling, and barking at me and every time I tried to get near he would attempt to bite me. I couldn’t find treats and so was just attempting to slowly earn his trust but he did not let up. After multiple close calls of almost being bitten I decided that instead of spending even more (unpaid) time and potentially getting bit, I would take the larger dog out alone. I contacted the owner and let them know of this and never received a response. The walk went fine, though I had to go through the entire struggle again to re-enter at the end.

After the walk I reached out to customer service to let them know about the aggressive dog on their platform and was hoping to avoid any potential retaliation from the owner in case they were upset about only having one dog walked. Instead of caring for my safety Wag has just informed me that they will not be doing anything except for reducing my pay since only one dog was walked and they need to refund the parent (unsure if they even complained about this).

This isn’t the first time I’ve been screwed over by Wag’s customer service, and I’m also fairly certain there must be some walker tips hidden mentioning biting as I see these dogs come up frequently and can’t imagine this is the first time. Mind you the only description on the little one’s profile is “great dog”. I’m already planning on leaving the platform as this was my final straw, but should I give up on the situation, lose some of the payout and let future dogs sign up to walk this dog and potentially get bit? Or is there a better way to get thru to Wag?
