SEO as a Uni-channel | SEO is big enough to not need multi-channel marketing
Every agency will tell you to spread your budget across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, email, and whatever platform launched last week. Most of them are wrong, or at least premature.
This is not a post against the multi-channel
IF you're doing multi-channel thats great. SEO doesnt work for everyone - there are a lot of brands on TikTok that dont do any SEO.
What is this uni-channel idea about?
This is just about saying that Google is so big (with or without Youtube and I love YouTube) - that "mutli-channal" isn't mandatory.
The Threat of Google penalties
Clearly some people - like those experimenting with Scaled Content (like manual AI scripts and airdrops etc) are in for a rude awakening. And yes, the HCU event was horrible - destroying legitimate businesses. But a multi-channel approach isn't a guaranteed cure - I doubt 90% of the HCU would work on Facebook or TikTok? So - apart from coming at anti-Google stance or trying to tell people becareful of relying just on Google - I doubt anything would have changed
Google is Massive
Google generates somewhere around 75% of global sales traffic and gets 8x the traffic of all social channels combined. That's not a channel. That's the internet. And the thing most businesses don't realize is that you don't have to wait around for someone to search your exact brand name.
In the past 5 years:
- LinkedIn has tightend the reach of organic posting
- twitter dissappeared
- Reddit is (slowly) clamping down on Spam
- Meta ads are overly complex - often with poor ROI for SaaS
You can target your competitors. You can find the adjacent searches, the people looking up the problem your product solves before they even know a solution exists. Someone searching "why am I losing website visitors" is a lead for an SEO tool. Someone searching "how to stop my team missing deadlines" is a lead for project management software. You find where intent already lives and you show up there.
The multi-channel pitch exists partly because it's genuinely useful at scale, and partly because managing five channels is five times the retainer. Most small and mid-size businesses would get a better return just going deeper on Google before they go wider anywhere else.
SEO includes LLM visbility
That makes the reach and market even bigger. You dont have to agree - just think about it.
AI is not disrupting traditional search [Study] (AI Overviews do)
Datos published a study showing that AI is not outpacing search in growth or usage.
On an absolute basis, traditional search is outpacing AI tool growth.
Despite the "disruption", people are searching Google as much as ever...
Now, before you attack this thread, I am not claiming this should convince anyone to forget about LLM optimization. I believe SEO and GEO are inseparable.
If there's one thing that is actually disrupting SEO (or else its traditional metrics and KPIs), it is the AI Overviews as they are the biggest drivers of 0-click marketing at this point.

The unusual case of u/mjmilian
So on r/seogrowth - the sub that openly allows harassment posts of its bigger neighbor - why, we can only guess - is hosting another harassment post - this time from a group of people that make an odd collection
One - mjmilian who just doesn’t like another SEO holding an idea that to him is so sacrosanct he launched an evidence free diatribe of confusing conjecture - to launch an attack on someone whom he accused of blocking him
- although I found the post and was able to reply - odd. But I have now had to block him because he keeps the harassment replies going as do the handful of other accounts or alt accounts as two of them already admitted and then removed
And one person who simultaneously dm’d me to say sorry for it because they truly learned a lot - as do hundreds of others - but that’s not enough for this seriously deranged web dev who adores schema so much that all the data and quotes weren’t enough - so he had to turn nasty and to intimidation - the ugly side of Reddit
This if hours attached my lovely friend who goes under the anonymous name if PeterWhiteWujeClub or something equally silly and pointless (who always love to bash me. Easily the most grumpiest and unhelpful person in SEO - and don’t take my word for it - just look at his boring, dry replies that are just attacks on people on Reddit - I’ll post some screenshots tomorrow
Truly sad that a team of pro ppl even tun one of the busiest subs in Reddit are harassed by pro ppl r like this - who don’t take the time to see the hundreds of SEO projects we help peole with each week - they just angry when they have to be blocked because they can’t handle a decade and instead resort to hanging up on peole for not just holding a different idea but possibly doing the worst thing imaginable : proving them wrong about something…..
Thanks to Drjigsaw for turning a blind eye and being always available to pltform attacks against his neighboring sub - possibly breaking or allowing people to break 5 Reddit rules in one post - pretty commendsbke/ almost
