So I just went with a friend to an ice cream place in Westport. We are from New Haven for context. We were sitting outside eating our ice cream and this man walked up with his dog (off leash) and the dog came right up to us. I was like “oh what’s their name?” and he was abruptly like “oh we’re waiting for my wife, she’s inside” and then he scurried away and sat down. Then as I was walking to the car while my friend was inside getting napkins at the ice cream place, I smiled at a different couple on the street, and as soon as the male saw me he also abruptly looked away and kept walking. I jokingly said to my friend, “What are the wives doing to these men in Westport? It’s like the opposite of Handmaid’s Tale” … but I genuinely need some insight, like are these just weirdly loyal men? Or do they just have terrible social skills?

I never go there for ice cream. We always end up with Van Leewen or Momu because they’re convenient after dinner. They are ok, but as my kid says “they’re mid.” Besides Carvel whatever it’s called now, are we forgetting any places we should try? We do not like Milkcraft.

Going for Beehive Queen concert tomorrow night. What can I expect in terms of traffic and parking? Can we bring folding chairs, or is it blankets only? TIA.
