Trump described the Great American State Fair as packed with happy people and asserted that Biden or Obama could not have achieved it.
Yet when placed beside the 1976 Bicentennial, the difference feels striking.
Though America had just emerged from Vietnam and Watergate, crowds still filled the National Mall.
Fifty years on, the situation seems quite distinct—the photo conveys much.
