This may have already been discussed, but I really loved seeing Will actually trying to be sociable. Him letting his father coach him from the sidelines while he played baseball was such a good scene.
Because even though it showed growth for Will being vulnerable and letting people in... he was still very much Will Trent. Still prickly, sarcastic, and perpetually annoyed by everybody around him 😆 But he was trying, and that’s what made it feel special.
And his dad coaching him through it all honestly got to me a little.
Also… of course Angie’s husband caught the ball 😂

When I first started watching the show, I kept Book Will firmly in my head and compared the way the show interpreted the stories. It wasn’t until the final episode of this season’s story wrap ups that I got what they were doing.
So (as someone else here has done), I started rewatching from season 1 with fresh eyes. I understand the differences now I know where they landed. And now I don’t think they will introduce Sara - at least not book Sara.
In the books, Will only had 2 love interests and they were complete opposites. Angie, as troubled and broken as Will is, acted out all her feelings and has a mean, jealous streak. No family support, growing up with a more than abusive mother, has made her a hardened biatch in the books.
Contrast her with Sara. Sara had loving, caring middle class parents who supported her. Sara had all the advantages, went to medical school and has a stellar career. Her “flaw” (wrong word but I can’t think what to say) is that she was brutally assaulted in college. (Edit: Sara has more than one trauma; I’m forgetting.) Book Will is a lonely, awkward man who expects everyone he meets to reject him. Sara, who meets him after she experienced some trauma as well, sees something in Will that connects them. This gives Will strength to finally break free of Angie. If you read the books, it is a hard slog for both of them.
Now back tv show Angie! I think she is the combination of Angie, Sara, and the other love interests he has- Cricket, Marion, Ava. The last 3 women had the same adoration for Will that Sara has, so why introduce an actual Sara? It’s already been explored. And tv show Angie has the good qualities of Sara- she has his back, always and shows him kindness.
So that’s what I think. Anyway I’m really looking forward to season 5!
Spoiler : if you have not finished Will Trent yet DO NOT READ.
I started rewatching Will Trent from Season 1 Episode 1. Seeing the relationship that Will has with Amanda makes me so sad. I just don’t get where they are going to go from here now that Amanda is gone. Will we get back to a more centralized focus on Will or Amanda and the baby?
i find it super annoying when a character has a baby and then the plot becomes all about that instead of… you know… actually decent storylines… it will be super disappointing if the show turns into watching a mommy-and-me class.
I think it would be unsurprising if they made Faith the new Amanda. She even had similar story line as Amanda where they fall in love with criminals in season 4. Plus Faith is wanting to step away from front lines and it would be less of an adjustment to the show if someone familiar became the new boss. I know it probably won’t happen but I definitely don’t think it can be ruled out as a possibility.
Why are y’all hating on season 4 so much?? I enjoyed it but then again I enjoy a lot of things but damn it wasn’t that bad compared to the other shows on the network.
I posted before about Lena before I’d read Grant County. I’ve now read all Grant County and am in the 7th Will Trent book. I honestly feel for Lena and am always a little surprised how much Sara blindly hates Lena. I feel like people forget:
Like I get it - Sara also had her sister attacked, was also raped, and has had a lot of trauma, but she has a stable support system and upbringing. Which I think is something Sara ignores.
Lena has her issues. She’s stubborn, homophobic, and often refuses to take accountability or deal with her trauma. But man, I hate how Sara gets painted as a saint and Lena a sinner. I just need someone in the series to acknowledge her, breakdown her walls, and love her. I was hoping that would be Jeffery’s son, but he’s young and not quite mature enough. I feel like she just needs unconditional love in her life. Idk I guess that’s my rant lol. I feel like the books are disregarding Lena’s past.
I cried. A lot. I never ever cry during movies or shows, but i had to grab a tissue more than once. It was such a powerful episode. Seth dying was not on my bingo card. Angie missing the first 6 months of ediths life was devastating to me as a mother whos 8 months post partum. Will taking a leave of absense? Cried. Sobbed. This episode tore into my soul. Lets discuss it.
This morning I finished the season watching the finale & this is the one & only time I'm totally fine with part of/if not all of this entire season being just a dream. Amanda's character is such a presence & Sonja did it so well - I feel her loss will remove a part of the secret sauce that makes this show so good. This season just felt off all around to me
This is by far one of the most underrated episodes of the series. I love how instead of the usual structure where Will and Faith handle one case while Angie and Ormewood tackle another, this episode weaves everyone's trajectories into a single narrative. The elevator fight scene between Will Seth Ormewood against Osiris was epic. It really stuck out. It wasn't like anything you see in most procedurals. I liked how the episode gave me vibes like that Denzel Washington movie "John Q" with whole hospital hostage crisis. The episode also ended with a really good cliffhanger.
Had to look it up to be sure it's her - and it is!
Iantha Richardson, by Arturo Holmes
Erika Christensen by David Russell
No Ramón or Jake, it looks like.
ABC also announced that they're holding back several shows for mid-season 2027, including Will Trent (unsurprisingly).
I enjoyed the first few seasons - they were entertaining, quirky with a good storyline and relationships. I made it several episodes into this season and the show has gotten so dreary and depressing. All Will does it Angst about the boy that got shot last year. There is nothing fun or light hearted about it. I used to think of it more like high potential- but it’s just depressing now. Does it regain a more lighted hearted vibe as the season progresses or does it stay a downer.
Thanks
I have no clue what they were thinking this season. To kill Amanda off like that, offscreen with some later flashes to the fight, was downright disrespectful for such a powerhouse of a character.
Then they wrap it all up the next episode, by having the woman whos amassed a supposed huge following, all of the sudden get super sloppy and lose all of her acolytes in the span of hours? And to kill Amanda right off the bat, but STILL keep Antonio alive????
I dunno, this just wasn't it, chief.
Honestly the shows premise hooked me so quicky but they've done things over and over that have led me to just be disappointed.
My first problem is Amanda Wagner and how they failed her charachter. There really wasnt any growth for her throughout the series. They hinted towards her being bi for 4 seasons before they finally had her in a same sex relationship (which was really bad and messy btw) and then they killed her off 2 episodes later not even finishing her charachter arc, idk its a little weird to me.
Second, the black woman named Cricket who is in season 2 episode 1. She died bc of a bomb but she would have been such an intresting love intrest for Will. So Will's love new intrest is played by Gina Rodriguez who is a racist actress... amazing!
The BIG reason:
Then we have season 4 episode 14 which I would call an absolute mess. You have a black women concerned about her son who has a medical history and she states that "doctors like you dont care about patients like me" (I'm paraphrasing a bit) which is her alluding to a true fact that there are white doctors who do not care about black patients.
Instead of properally adressing this, they make the mom follow the angry black women stereotype going insane and being rude to every character. When movies like John Q exist its upsetting to see a tv series take 10 steps back.
These arent really issues just things i do not like:
Seth is dead and i genuinely dont want to see Will and Angie together bc they are toxic together and its just not fun.
Im tried of everyones boyfriends being a secret criminal (now that I think about it thats just the black women, Faith and Amanda... huh)
Faithwood is probs not happening cuz they dont see. like interracial relationships (just making an educated guess)
Sometime i nitpick though and it is really cpol they have a very diverse cast but it's just been feeling off so pls let me know if u guys agree or think im being unfair.
I think the show is stronger and better if Will and Angie aren’t together as a couple. They seem to heal better and progress better if they are simply friends, but have different romantic partners. I mean even Franklin told Angie that as long as she and Will were romantically involved neither one of them would be able to heal, the trauma bond between them would keep them from healing. I really like the show but if the writers put them back together, I don’t think it’s going to add depth to the show.
Dudeeee it was such a missed opportunity to play isn’t she lovely by Stevie wonder when Edie was born. I mean I assume there was copyright issues but it would’ve been so good, because Seth had mentioned it earlier in the show. Maybe it would’ve been too on the nose but idk. I haven’t read much of the other threads on here but I know a lot of ppl are disappointed about the finale. I loved it, it sucks that Seth passed and Angie has another thing to overcome. But I loved that everyone was happy at the end and most importantly together. Will was too alone this season. The only thing I wish was that we saw Faith and Ormey during the last montage sequence because you can’t tell me they weren’t there helping when Angie was going through it! Oh and I was an Angie and Will truther but I think it would be cool if they were friends who just raise a kid together. If they end up together later on naturally like in a series finale time skip it would be cool. But I don’t think it should be forced and if they end up with other partners I’m fine with that too. Anyway that’s my rant, love to hear anyone else’s thoughts.
As in what was the reasoning or the history to his crimes and why did he kill Lucy? Because she was pregnant and would have stopped doing the work
