I genuinely can’t decide between the iPad A16 (256GB) and the Xiaomi Pad 8.

This will be my MAIN device for around 4–5 years. My current phone is just a Samsung A12 and I’ll probably keep a cheap phone only for hotspot/calls, so the tablet will handle most of my daily use.

My usage:

studying / PDFs / notes

anime / YouTube / media

MLBB on high settings

Terraria / Stardew Valley

casual multitasking

What keeps pulling me toward the Xiaomi:

144Hz looks AMAZING to me

stronger hardware/value for the money

feels more modern

cheaper than the iPad in my area

What keeps pulling me toward the iPad:

iPadOS looks cleaner and more reliable

better app optimization

feels safer long-term

I want something dependable for years

I’m NOT a professional creator/editor, just a student who wants a good long-term main device.

For people who actually owned either of these: Which one would you honestly choose in 2026 and why?

Hi! I have the Pad 7 and I just recently bought the Pad 8. I noticed side by side that Pad 7 has more of a cooler screen resolution on default, as compared to Pad 8 that has a default warmer screen. Is it really like this or have I bought a faulty Pad 8?

For context, Pad 7 was bought at the mall from the official Xiaomi Store. While the Pad 8 was bought also at the mall but from Hello Plus Gadgets (It was a promo that was bought with a keyboard).

I've been using the pad 8 with the focus pen pro for about a month now and since the last 2 weeks the pen just randomly doesn't respond?? all the tap and squeeze gestures work but the pen doesn't respond with the screen and it's getting so annoying :((

any ideas on how to fix it??

usecase - playing games like talking tom types, Don't want ads while playing games,like in android I can download mod apk but in iOS i don't know, experienced both of them in stores, I liked a16 better but problem is battery will it run 5 or more hrs while playing these types of games and mod apk like need without ad version games.

Or if you can suggest better tab.

I already have xiaomi smart pen gen 2 ( which came for xiaomi pad 6 ) and i now I wanna buy xiaomi pad 8... Will that pen work on the new pad 8 or shld i buy the focus pen pro..?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy the pen for xiaomi tab 8 or just go with the cheaper one?

And what other stylus pen from xiaomi is compatible for the tab 8?

I’ve been trying to plug pad to external screen, it works except that the ratio is not the same. Tried second screen but doesn’t seem to work. Tried several ratios and resolution with ADB but weird stuff happening (vertical rather than horizontal display).
Would really like to use tablet with external display mouse and keyboard.
