Bringing these to city council. Feel free to share!

Made a quick flyer for those who would like to get Flock out of Albany. Our councilors are currently 4-2 (where 4 is in favor of removal). If one flips and ties the vote, the mayor gets the tie breaking vote, and from what I've heard, he'd vote to extend the contract. City council meeting is next Wednesday May 27, 2026, 6:00pm at City Hall

Give Mayor Johnson a cal and let him know how you feel:  541-990-3404

Flock License Plate Reader Cameras in Albany. Community Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday May 20, at the River Front Community Center with the Albany City Council.

The Albany Public Safety Commission had a meeting about the Flock surveillance cameras on Monday. They voted 5 to 3 to turn the Flock cameras back on. This was despite almost all of the citizens in attendance opposing the use of these cameras.

There is still time to stop this deployment though.
The next meeting is the Albany City Council Meeting, tomorrow Wednesday May 20 at 5:00 pm.
This meeting will be at the River Front Community Center.
The Albany City Council has the ultimate authority to decide whether the Flock cameras stay or go.

This is a public meeting and people who care are invited to attend and voice their opinions.

If you believe in privacy, civil liberties, and oppose the use of mass surveillance programs using ubiquitous license plate reader cameras that send their data to out of state large data centers that use AI, this is your chance to try and stop these cameras.

De Ice Citizens Bank

DE ICE Citizens Bank June 6, 2026
1440 Central Ave, Northway Mall
10 - 11 am
Join Greater Capital Region Coalition and thousands of people across the country on Saturday, June 6th to send Citizens Bank a clear message: financing private prison and immigration detention facility operators The GEO Group and CoreCivic is bad for business.

Please bring signs specific to this action: De-ICE Citizens Bank; Cages Aren't Communities; Citizens Bank - Stop Financing ICE Prisons; Citizens Bank + ICE = Human Rights Abuse; ICE Prisons Don't Strengthen Our Communities; Citizens Bank - Cut Ties With ICE Prisons; etc.

Citizens Bank is bankrolling the country’s two largest prison companies that are earning record profits operating dozens of ICE detention facilities. While most major banks have cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group, Citizens Bank is deepening its financial support for these companies, which are already holding more than half of the 70,000 immigrants currently in ICE detention centers across the country.

The bank’s capital is supporting a deplorable ICE agenda that aims to fill detention centers with more than 100,000 people by next year. Even as it publicly touts its commitment to “strengthening our communities,” Citizens Bank has played a key role in helping The GEO Group and CoreCivic access more than $2.5 billion in financing, some of it approved earlier this year. This comes as the companies face a mountain of allegations, including forced labor and wrongful deaths due to understaffing and medical neglect at their facilities.

We won't quietly stand by as Citizens continues to finance the private prison & ICE detention companies that are harming our communities. The 2019 exodus of banks from the industry in response to activism should be a reminder to us that our voices matter. Now it's time to use them. Visit www.de-icecitizensbank.org for more information and other actions you can take!

Remember, we want to be in solidarity with workers including bank branch employees. Treat everyone with respect and do not harass or film employees.

A core principle behind all Coalition events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We expect hosts to ensure all participants in your event uphold this commitment. We recommend all participants review a safety and security resource before your event, such as https://indivisi.org/safety.

Dungeons and Dragons Donations

I’ve got a bunch of D&D minis, maps, markers and tokens that need a good home.

I’d really like to donate to a school club or something, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of anyone in a school who has a club.
Any good places in Corvallis or Albany for a D&D donation?

Flock License Plate Reader Cameras in Albany. Community Meeting at the Albany Police Department, Monday May 18, 6:00.

The City of Albany has installed Flock Surveillance cameras to read license plate numbers of passing cars.

Flock is part of a mass surveillance system that is being installed in many places across the USA. When the massive amounts of Flock data are sent to mega-data centers and combined with AI, this would allow all the governments and government agencies in the USA to track your history and current activities in Real Time.

This is an obvious civil rights and civil liberties issue that many people strongly oppose. Some cities have already turned off and removed their Flock cameras for this reason. Eugene is one of them.

It is not too late to get rid of these Orwellian systems or at least use them with safeguards.
There is a meeting Monday night, May 18 at the Albany Police Department, from 6:00 to 7:00. If you care, this is an open Albany community forum.

Moving to Lebanon in July!

Moving to Oregon in July!

34M I'm moving from Elk Grove (Sacramento area) up to Lebanon, OR in early July. I'll be moving in with my fiancée and her mother's family.

Which means: I don't really have any friends up there at all. So I'm putting this out there.

I'm looking to make friends. The real kind. If you're alternative, nerdy, goth, emo, hardcore, Anime, book-reading, night-sky-watching, deep-thinking kind of human—we'll probably get along.

I don't care about your gender or orientation. I care if you're real. If you've been through some things and came out the other side still willing to be kind.

A little about me, honestly:

I'm shy. I have anxiety. And I can come across as a little bit of a dick sometimes—not on purpose. It's just how I grew up in Sacramento/Elk Grove. We say "hella," "sup," "what up," "how you doin," and a bunch of other things that might sound abrupt. If you get to know me, I might rub off on you. Consider yourself warned.

I like cars. I drop everything when someone needs help. I've done things I'm proud of and made choices I'd do differently. I believe in second chances and real loyalty. I laugh hard, feel deeply, and I'll show up for you if you show up for me.

Looking for genuine people to grab coffee with, talk about life or music or nothing at all, and not have to pretend.

If that sounds like you or someone you know in the Lebanon area, send me a message.

Let's be weird. 🖤

Swimming Pool Options

Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a public swimming pool near Corvallis/Albany/Philomath; specifically one that has space for adults who just want to relax in the water. I'm aware of the Osborne Aquatic Center, but it seems more oriented towards children and exercise and is partially closed. As far as I'm aware, OSU also has a pool. I am an alumni if it makes a difference.

I work an outdoor job in the heat, and all I want to do when I get home is submerge myself in water. I grew up in an area with numerous public pools and a swimmable ocean accessible to me and I'm really craving something similar. I know I can jump in a river - but frankly I want something a little bit more accessible I guess.

Anyone got any ideas? Thank you!!!

Xoxo - a sweaty woman in STEM

Police Activity at Motel 6 on Pacific by Costco

Just went by not long ago getting gas at costco when my partner and I saw roughly 12 police vehicles, an ambulance, and a medic vehicle. One of the rooms on the second story was also barricaded from the outside. Does anyone know what happened???

Going down the hearing aids rabbit hole and Costco in general has a lot of recommendations with the caveat that experience varies by store. I’m looking for your experiences good or bad at the Albany store getting an exam, buying hearing aids, and getting service going forward.

Thanks!
