I built AniSync, a fast Material You AniList client for Android
Hey everyone!
I’ve been pouring a lot of time into AniSync lately. It’s a native, open-source Android client for AniList that is completely free of ads and trackers. The app has been out for a little while, but I’ve recently added a ton of new features that I think make it worth sharing with you all.
I wanted to build something that feels premium, so here are a few standout features. I’m particularly proud of that you won't easily find in other clients:
- Full Rich Keyboard Support: Drop GIFs, stickers, or Emoji Kitchen creations straight into comments and activity replies. Whatever your keyboard throws at it, the app handles it seamlessly.
- Built-in Media Uploading: Skip the manual hosting dance. You can pick an image, video, or GIF and upload it straight to Catbox or Litterbox (for temporary hosting) without ever leaving the app. The link is automatically inserted for you.
- Dynamic Material You Theming: Instead of just defaulting to your system wallpaper, the app offers a set of other color palettes to choose from.
- Home Screen Widgets: Keep track of what you're currently watching right from your home screen (built with Glance).
- Under-the-Hood Perks: Built-in Media3 player for seamless media previews.
What's Next? You tell me :)
Right now, AniSync is Android only (Min SDK 26). I’m thinking about porting it to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) down the line, but no promises just yet!
If you practically live on AniList, I would absolutely love your feedback. Feel free to drop any bugs or feature requests on the .

AL-chan not working?
Anilist website works fine for me but whenever I try to search on Al-chan or update an anime I get an error.
Anilist is mostly good, 1 takeaway
I really like anilist, it's UI is way better than the top competitor, it's easy to use and navigate (for the most part) but there is one big thing and a related minor thing that I detest. How in depth you have to be when you do an anime/special submission. In conjunction with that, I feel that anilist should allow for more specials to be listed on the site, to include recaps. They are often full episodes that take 20ish minutes of our life and I wish all of them could be tracked in the same episode/time watched trackers. It's main anime competitor does, and so do other db trackers for tv and anime, but not anilist.
Thank you for reading my rant.

Any third-party apps for my taste
Heavy ui related (fluid smooth animation)
Best tracking experience.
With full potential of the anilist.
I built an AniList-integrated anime/manga tracker app and would love feedback
Hi everyone,
I recently built a small anime/manga tracker app for iOS and Android, and it includes an AniList integration.
The idea came from a simple problem: I often follow multiple anime and manga at the same time, and I wanted a quick way to keep track of where I am without making the experience too complicated.
With the app, you can:
- track your current episode or chapter
- organize titles into custom collections like “watching”, “to watch”, or “to continue”
- use AniList integration to make tracking easier
- keep everything clean and easy to update
It’s not meant to replace AniList. I wanted to build something that works alongside it, with a more personal and simple tracking workflow.
I’d love to get feedback from AniList users:
- does the idea make sense to you?
- what would you expect from a good AniList integration?
- is there anything you feel is missing from your current tracking setup?
The app is available here: https://taap.it/zk2Mzs1
Thanks to anyone who takes a look or shares feedback.
Question Regarding Tags
The other day I posted a question on how to make 3 categories in which I can make lists within but that was a post I made rapidly and without much contemplation so thus everything didn't make sense to others.
Upon reviewing the numerous tags that AniList has, I'd like to know how I can comb through the anime list and manga list that we all have and filter through the Tags (not the regular Genre Tags like Romance and Comedy but more advanced ones like Vampire and Military).
Essentially I want to know whether it is possible to go review all the stuff saved up and filter through the more advanced Tags, I have not found such an option as it only showcases Genre Tags. Going to browse for anime in the browse tab and scrolling past the genres showcases the Tags.
I want to know if it is possible to see them in the personal saved lists. Additionally, is it possible to create custom Tags only for myself for saved anime.
Is there any tool that'd help turn my TXT list into MAL or Anilist File?
reddit.comWhy is it showing error
Hey everyone, I've been using AniList to track my watch/read list but lately I'm getting a 404 error.
Has anyone run into this recently? Any fixes or workarounds?
Thanks!

Help] AniList GIF Profile Picture showing as static image despite meeting requirements
I’m struggling to get my animated pfp working on AniList. I’ve seen other users with clean animated avatars specifically this profile but mine just stays as a static image no matter what I do.
I noticed that user is a dev, so idk if it’s a "dev-only" perk or if I’m just wrong. Is there a thing I'm missing?
What I’ve already done:
- Ratio: 1:1 square crop.
- Size: Under 2MB (I've tried also 1MB).
- Format: Tried .gif and .apng.
FYI: I’m heading out on vacation rn, so I won’t be able to reply to comments until next week. Just wanted to post this out there and see if anyone has the fix.
TIA for any help!
