Dropout Presents an Improvised Reunion for a Movie that Doesn’t Exist, The Song Of The Squid.

This feels like the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour of comedy. Dropout did a Vulture video using a fake movie reunion that really captures the vibe of Artist on Artist on Artist on Artist. And seeing Griffin Newman in that AOAOAOA sweatshirt is perfect.

Favorite voices

I'm curious to see what others consider their favorite character voices and why

Mine:

Kylie - Freddy Carolina from Vegas Performers. The puppet said that.

Jeremy - Barbara Ann Delite from The Look. He really captures the old lady voice so well

Angela - Sadie from the YouTube Talk Show Hosts episodes. It's just so endearing

Patrick - Lady Lavender from Hollywood's Greatest Muses. It just matches the character's vibes

Angela not knowing when 9/11 happened strikes again

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I noticed something today while making my way through older episodes and wanted to share because it cracked me up.

In the Disney Channel Panel episode (2021), Angela's character is pissed that their time at Disney wasn't successful because their show premiered on 9/11, didn't get any viewers, and ended by 2012. Obviously all the other characters are confused and asking questions because that's still a 10-year run. Despite all of this, it seems that Angela still didn't realize 9/11 wasn't in 2011 until a few years later during the Smosh Sex Ed Beopardy video (2023) lmfao.

To be clear, I share this observation with so much love, not to bash on Angela in any way. She's great <3

Angela Giarratana in GOMAG 100 Women We Love: Class of 2026

"Every June, GO Magazine celebrates 100 queer women who inspire us, lead us, and remind us what resilience, brilliance, and unapologetic visibility look like. "

They had a little typo on Angela's name 😬

Best episode(s) to show a new listener?

This podcast has been my bread and butter for so long (it scratches the theatre kid itch in my brain so perfectly), and I finally got my friend to agree to check it out with me!

However, there are so many episodes I adore I can’t choose which one to show first! I’m hoping I can rope my buddy into a joint hyperfixation situation here. They already love dropout and adored Jeremy on game changer, so the odds are stacked in my favor.

Personally I love the recurring mini-series like The View, the Thanksgiving parade, Halloween Poets, etc. but I wanna start with something stand alone. (We All Played the Joker and Blue Man Group I also am obsessed with, however I feel like the humor hits harder if you’re more familiar with the podcast before watching).

I’m considering Eurovision or Las Vegas Performers sheerly for how often I stim quotes from those lol. Then again, having one of the dropout cast members as a special guest could benefit me in converting my bestie to a flalalady. Maybe We Made a Movie in Paris? Legendary Voice Actors? Ugh these guys are just too talented and funny to make the decision easy 😭.

What would y’all recommend as a good starter episode for someone who’s never seen the series?

What episode got you hooked in the first place?

So that’s not the part of the song where he’s having the lament

I wish I could explain to anyone at all in real life how much that moment from eurovision super stars just kills me.

Nearly every bit from that episode is so funny, it honestly might be the best one

Ep where they save Joe Biden?

Was this a fever dream or was there an episode where they went on a huge tangent about ending up saving the president (Biden at the time) or some other crazy hero act but the episode was about something completely different (like being interns or something)?
