Cameras Triggering When Motion is Outside Defined Zones

As the title says - I have cameras recording when there is no motion in the zones I’ve defined. I’m draining batteries quickly because I record every car driving by even though my zones only cover the sidewalk and driveway. Any suggestions?

Arlo pro 2 used

Currently I have three arlo pro 2 cameras that do not require subscription. If I purchased two used ones on eBay, will those require a subscription? I’m looking for two more arlo cameras that don’t require a subscription. Thanks!

5 minute recordings + not detecting motion

System - Pro 4 XLs and a base station / App version: 6.34.0. System is a little over 3 years old.

Two of the cameras started recording to the full 5 minutes even though I did not change the setting from 'Record until activity stops". Have done a factory reset and thee two cameras are doing it less often but the problem is not fixed. Other cameras do not have this problem.

Two different cameras don't appear to be picking up motion at night but are during the day. Again no changes by me were made to the settings. Also did the factory reset but it did not fix the problem.

Are there any additional options? Will continued factory resets make any difference? I can't find a factory reset for the base station, is there one?

Thanks

Arlo VS Eufy, tough choice. Alternatives?

Dear all, I’m looking for a wireless security system cover about 1000 sq meters / 11000 sq feet. I’m going to need 4 or 5 cams and I am torn between Eufy and Arlo. I want the best build quality and user experience. Recurring costs are somewhat annoying but no dealbreaker. Does anyone have experience with both? I don’t have a fixed budget. I do have a synology NAS available if I were to consider something else entirely.

Nice to have but not required:
-,Option to hook up to a permanent power source or swappable batteries. Hybrid POE support would be nice but I don’t think it exists.
- Smart tracking across cameras
- easily movable cameras (not pointable, actual relocation)

Are there other brands worth looking into?

How to get SIM card

I have the Go 2. I bought it certified refurbished from a reputable seller on eBay. I go to metro by t mobile, and they tell me they dont have SIM cards for cameras. I figure i should ask up here. Do i just buy any SIM card from the approved providers? Does it need to be a certain type of SIM card just for these cameras?

Trial Subscription Runs Out, and Now Cameras Are Ignoring Zones

So between yesterday and today, the only thing that has changed is that our 30-day subscription trial has run out. That's it. But now, it seems that our three cameras and our doorbell are going nuts, giving us notifications about every car and person that goes by. We had the motion detection zones dialed in to just about perfect, and they're the same now as they were before. We had almost all types of motion turned on, except vehicles in the driveway and animals in the back yard, so it's not just that it's not being as selective about the types of notifications it's sending. We've turned down the sensitivity to 25%, and it hasn't helped. What the hell do I do here? Thanks in advance!

Webpage playback

Hey all,

I've got a couple Pro 3 Wire-Free Floodlight cameras. I recently built a new PC and now suddenly the webpage is saying the browser cannot play video files. I mainly use Firefox but the same is happening in edge/ chrome.

What has changed that I cannot play video files? It used to work totally fine until a few days ago.

The cameras are still in warranty and its really stupid if I can't view videos without downloading them so I might just end up returning them to amazon for something else if this persists.

Camera issue

We have two outdoor essential cameras and 2 of their pro 5s. The two essential cameras have gone so distorted and pixelated it’s worthless. Anyone else have similar issues? Arlo says it’s the internet, our internet service says it’s Arlo. I’m about to leave Both. My family has a stalker and the cameras are very important. Anyone have any advice or found a camera brand you love and that is reliable ?

New cameras with "free 6 month" plans

Minor vent warning.

For existing customers, be careful with any of these cameras - they will move you off older previous/cheaper plans if you paid for one already. And there is no way back. Not an issue for new users, which I guess is what they care more about at the end of the day.

Connecting the new camera to my existing setup overrode my existing plan with the "free" one. I don't recall even having a confirmation dialog to opt-in or opt-out of this "free" plan when adding the camera via the mobile app.

The problem is, I already had a yearly plan that I paid for, with more than 6 months remaining - and all that was basically lost. I spoke to Arlo support and they said it was "impossible" to move me back to my older, cheaper plan. And none of my payment would be refunded.

I had to negotiate an appropriate "future" discount that was actually monetarily fair to me after my pro-rata calculations. This was meant to be automatically applied, but months later I found out it wasn't - another round with support.

Thanks for lending me your virtual ear. I hope others out there that have suffered the same issue have gotten themselves a just resolution, which for some may be no longer paying for a subscription at all.

Will the annoying trial ended notice on the dashboard ever go away? I already subscribed to their single option, so what else do they want from me?

Switching between Arlo locations' device feed do not change in my iPhones (iOS v26.5.x).

Is anyone else noticing that today or just me? I have original Arlo and Arlo Pro 2 locations. Two different accounts with one for each setup with sharing. I have to restart Arlo app to see the feeds list correctly, but it doesn't last long! :(

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Arlo VMB4540r3 Hub - consistently drops connection

I am having an issue with my Hub. I have a VMB4540r3 that's probably 5+ years old (pretty sure I got the system in early 2021 or possibly in 2020).  I have a mix of cameras connected to it (Essential Indoor, Essential Spotlight, Pro 4, and Wireless Doorbell) although a couple are just added via internet and not thru the Hub.  The last few months, I've been having issues where the Hub loses connection.  It particularly happens after I view a camera live - it works fine when I view a camera but then when I stop viewing live and go to connect to a different one, the connection is down so all the cameras are down (at least the ones going thru the Hub like all the Pro 4s, the Essential Spotlight, one of the Essential Indoor).  The Hub is wired in to the router just a foot or two away, and the network still functions (I work from home so I'd notice if the network dropped altogether) so it's not a connection issue with the network

I have not done a "reset" on it as I wasn't sure if that meant basically resetting my whole system and having to re-program all the cameras and whatnot, but it's getting fairly annoying at this point.  Anyone have this issue and know a solution or thoughts?

arlo essential 3 VMC3080

any recommendations or thoughts on getting my VMC3080 to work? it randomly shut offline, and when i tried to reconnect it refused to connect to wifi, despite being able to identify it and say the wifi has full bars. i've gotten a replacement from arlo, which did the same thing. i've switched my wifi to split 2.4 and 5 ghz bands, didn't fix it. does anybody have any tips or tricks? i've probably spent 4 hours troubleshooting and arguing with chat agents and am currently trying to get my money back, but giving it one last shot on here if it can be fixed. (my doorbell camera has also randomly gone offline if you have any tips for that too)

Moving on…Alternative Platforms

Hello,

I’m nearing transition time from Arlo to a new platform. Wondering what vendor/product the group feels is comparable to the Arlo that once was. Open to any/all ideas. Main use is front and side door cameras.

Thanks

Arlo Pro 5S 2K Water Intrusion Issue – Support Says Engineering Is Aware

I’m posting this to see how widespread this issue actually is. I currently own 3 Arlo Pro 5S 2K cameras. Two of them have developed what initially appeared to be blurry spots in the image.
At first I assumed it was: water spots on the outside of the lens, or something else but it turns out it wasn’t. After several days, the spots never disappeared.
When I inspected the cameras more closely and opened one of them, I discovered that water had made it inside the camera housing itself. There was moisture around the battery compartment and visible contamination/moisture inside the lens assembly.

My Experience With Arlo Support
I contacted Arlo Support and uploaded photos of both cameras.
Initially, support suggested:
Anti-fog or hydrophilic coatings
Moving the camera to a warmer area
Repositioning the camera

The problem is that the moisture is inside the camera, not on the outside of the lens. After the agent reviewed the photos and checked with their resources, the response changed significantly.

Support told me:
“I have checked with my resources and confirmed that this issue is an ongoing issue.”
They also stated:
“We are handling multiple customers with this kind of issue so our engineering team is working on it.”
The agent then advised:
“Until this issue resolve, please don’t use the cameras and keep the cameras isolated.”

I have included screenshots of the conversation below.

Photos

The photos show:
Moisture and spotting visible inside the lens assembly, One of the affected cameras became so blurry that a large portion of the image is essentially unusable.

Questions For Other Pro 5S Owners
Have you experienced moisture or water inside your Pro 5S cameras?
How long after installation did the problem appear?
Did Arlo replace the cameras?
Did support acknowledge the same issue?
Is this limited to certain manufacturing batches?
I understand that any device can fail, but having 2 of 3 cameras develop water intrusion and then being told that engineering is already aware of multiple reports makes me wonder if this is a larger issue affecting the Pro 5S line.
I’d appreciate hearing from anyone else who has experienced something similar.

I have had previous Arlo products and have had zero issues….

TL;DR: Two of my three Arlo Pro 5S 2K cameras developed water intrusion inside the camera housing. Arlo support reviewed the photos and told me the issue is ongoing, multiple customers are affected, and engineering is working on it. Looking to see how widespread this problem is.
