Really Sad

Really Sad

My friend, bless his sensitive heart, was genuinely hurt. The moment that ban-evader resurfaced like a bad rash, my friend logged off and hasn’t returned. He loved Bigscreen, but the betrayal and the clear double standard broke something in him.
And that’s the real tea: countless other users have been permanently banned for far, far less—honest mistakes, minor infractions, even misunderstandings. Yet this one gets the red-carpet treatment? We’re all watching the same screen, honey. The favoritism, the selective enforcement, the quiet protection of certain personalities… it reeks of a corrupt little crew playing favorites behind the curtain.
Bigscreen needs to do better. Transparency, consistency, and actual accountability aren’t optional extras in a community space—they’re the bare minimum. My friend deserved better. A lot of us do.

3D Movie Sharing without a PC

What do you guys consider to be the best workaround for showing/sharing 3d movies on bigscreen WITHOUT using your own PC (ie without virtual desktop)?

Free 3D video conversion up to 4K

StereoLift is a cloud tool I built that converts regular 2D video into Full Side-by-Side stereoscopic 3D.

Since Bigscreen is one of the most relevant places to actually watch 3D Full SBS video in VR together, I wanted to share it here and ask for feedback from people who use Bigscreen regularly.

StereoLift currently offers limited free conversions for up to 10 minutes at 30 fps in <=4K. So you do not have to rely on a demo or marketing claim. You can upload your own 2D footage privately and see for yourself how the quality holds up in your headset and playback workflow.

The custom depth map based 3D conversion pipeline focuses on stable depth perception over time and controlled 3D view synthesis, so converted videos stay comfortable across motion, cuts, and longer clips. A broad range of different video formats and source codecs with high resolution spatial audio formats is supported. A recent addition is that now also variable frame rate video can be processed.

The output is a regular Full SBS video file, where the general policy is to maintain source quality and format as good as possible meaning HDR10 for HDR sources and preservation of original audio. Metadata for most easy playback and compatibility for YouTube 3D is added. However, this always depends on how well this metadata is processed by your playback device and maybe your player still requires specific selection of Full SBS for correct playback.

I also deliberately avoided a subscription model. I think per-video (per frame) pricing feels more honest to me: you see the price before checkout and pay only when you actually want a file converted and the file indeed converted successfully (you are only finally charged after automatic file verification). Larger conversion packages for heavier use are planned later, mainly to avoid repeated credit card fees leading to higher prices for short videos. But they are anyway free for up to 2 conversions per day and user...

3D Blu Ray help!

I have my MakeMKV file converted to a half SBS through 3DBD2MK3D (photo one), but when I play it in the big screen Videoplayer it seems like it’s automatically converting the sbs to a regular 16:9 flat movie, and when i turn on SBS it looks awful. Worth adding that when i open it up on my desktop it’s sbs (photo 2), so i CAN get decent 3D viewing via the “Desktop” and then putting on SBS in BigScreens settings, but i think the bitrate caps at 5mbps (photo 3, bad quality). i’ve also heard of skybox VR, but I don’t know any other platforms to watch my 3D Blu-rays, any help would be appreciated!

running big screen without display

this post is just a rant about my 3 journey getting bigscreen to work as primary monitor.

3 days ago my pc monitor broke, so no way of using my pc anymore...

then came my eureca moment, i still had a oculus cv1 lying around.

so i set it up usung chrome remote desktop (steaming your screen over a phone installing meta link is an absolute bitch)

installed big screen, open it and.....nothing.

just a black screen.

nothing seemed to work, all posts about it not working are about steaming your desktop on a quest, nvidea drivers etc.

took me 3 fucking days to find out bigscreen does not work over a wired connection without a fing moniter untill i installed a virtual moniter driver....

f me, fuck meta, and f my broken monitor.

TLDR

bigscreem on a wired connection does NOT work without a primary monitor. hook one up or install a virtual monitor driver.

hopefully someone in need sees this post and is spared this miserable journey

peace out
