3D Game Shelves - need people to help test and request features

I've been working on a FREE website to help you find 3D Prints for your board games, and I kept going... Now I've released a beta version of 3D game shelves.

https://layerup.games/game-shelf

Replicate your rooms where you keep your games and shelf setups, and move your games onto the shelf. Sync your games and accessories from BGG and then sort, filter, and search for the games on your shelves.

You can view them in 3D and see how much room is still on the shelf. Stack vertically, horizontally, layer them, front cover out. Use big boxes; specify which base game, expansions, promos, metal coins, and accessories are in the box. Share your shelves with friends and family!

It's a very new page, but you can check out my profile, click the link, and view my shelf! The top shelf takes up the entire Kallax I have, but you can also view individual cubes in 3D.

I've been so busy working on the site that I've only added a few games, but other users have added almost 1,500 games so far.

Again, it's a new page, so check it out, you may find some bugs, just let me know here and I'll fix them. If you think of something you'd like to see, I'd love to hear!

Card Cascade: Modular, free store-and-play system for Dominion

With Card Cascade, the lid is also used to push up rows of card holders so they form a nice cascade of cards during play. This allows all the cards to be on display while playing, while keeping the size of storage boxes to a minimum. I've made a 30-second video that shows how the flip and push works.

There are 8 box sizes, each in a sleeved/unsleeved version, and I believe this is enough to hold every set of Dominion. If you have a large 3D printer, just 5 different sizes are needed to hold all sets; if not, you need 5 different size boxes and some sets get split in two. They are all the same height so stack nicely.

This is the evolution of a project I posted about a few weeks ago, and I think this version is much better :) In the old version I had just 3 sizes of box, and it turned out that it was both fragile and risked damaging the cards. It also didn't support smaller printers, sleeved cards, tokens, player mats, slide-in labels and other nice-to-haves that this version does.

The full details of the project and all the different permutations of boxes are available on MakerWorld. I hope you enjoy printing and storing your Dominion games as much as I do!

I'm still tinkering with it, and as I don't have all of the expansions it's possible that something isn't quite right. Let me know, and I'll try to fix the issue as soon as I can.

Feedback, questions and comments are very welcome. If you think this is useful, please like the model on MakerWorld too :)

Card Cascade for Compile: A free store-and-play system

This is a free, 3D-printed system that allows you to store your Compile game safely while making it fast and convenient to both choose what Protocols to use and pack away the game at the end.

I published the first version of Card Cascade for Dominion, a few people suggested I make it available for Compile (and other games), and I'm happy to say that I think it works really well for Compile. There are separate versions for Sleeved and Unsleeved cards.

If you have a 3D printer, check it out on MakerWorld, where there is much more detail about how it works and everything you need to print this design. If not, maybe you know someone who does?

Update 17 July: There now are 6 versions available: 15, 18 and 30 protocols, each in sleeved and unsleeved versions. This should allow you to store your sets exactly as you'd like (if you have the right printer :)

Card Cascade has undergone a few iterations in the past few months and is now v6.1. I haven't got any more changes planned, but I'm always open to suggestions and look forward to hearing what you think.

Game on!

[Food Chain Magnate] Store-and-Play system: Card Cascade

Food Chain Magnate is an awesome game, but organising the occupations for play takes up a lot of table space.

I have adapted Card Cascade to handle this in a way that works well for me: The occupations are stored in compact boxes that can cascade out to display the cards while playing, by simply sliding the lid under the box and pushing up the card holders.

There are designs available for sleeved and unsleeved cards, for "normal" size printers and for large printers. The boxes are fairly compact but do not fit inside the FCM box, sorry.

A Card Cascade could also store the Milestones, but the titles of those is in the middle of the card rather than at the top, so I'm still noodling on how to solve that problem :)

The designs are available for download on Makerworld. I hope you like it!

Scorepad.uk - I built a free scorekeeping app for game nights and would love some feedback

Hello all — I built Scorepad (scorepad.uk), a free scorekeeping app, because someone always ends up doing the maths by hand, and I grew tired of it always being me. Thought I'd finally roll the dice and share it here, to see what people made of it.

What it actually does:

- Plain running totals, a proper round-by-round table, or a life-total countdown — whatever your game actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all tally

- A few games get their own built-in scoresheet — Wingspan, Wyrmspan, Yahtzee, Sushi Go!, Flip 7, Star Realms, Yu-Gi-Oh — pick the preset and the app already knows the categories, so you're not reinventing the scorecard every time

- Got a game where the lowest score wins — Hearts, Golf, that sort of sneaky business? There's a toggle for that, no mental subtraction required

- Play together: share a code (or just scan a QR code) and everyone scores from their own phone, live — no accounts, no faff, works over the internet if you're not even at the same table

- Renames rounds if "Round 3" isn't cutting it and you'd rather call it "The Great Betrayal"

- Six themes, in case a beige spreadsheet isn't really your table's style

- Works fully offline, installs like a proper app, and — this is the important bit — it's staying free. Not "free with adverts," not "free until I paywall it later." Just free, forever, because I built it for my own game nights first.

A little bit of the how, for anyone curious: it's a single HTML file, no backend server, no build step — your scores live in your browser, and "Play together" simply mirrors them through Firebase when you switch it on. No accounts, because there's genuinely nothing to make an account for.

It's still very much a work in progress — if something's confusing, missing a game you'd want scored properly, or just plain broken, I'd love to hear about it. Consider this the opening hand, not the final score.

Thanks for reading this far — may your dice always roll in your favour and your scoring never come down to a shady "I'm sure I had more than that."
