We have now been without Brightspeed internet and landline phone service for 5 days, with no clear explanation and no reliable timeline for when service will be restored.

Every day we contact Brightspeed, we’re given a different estimated restoration time. That time comes and goes, and we’re still without service. We’re repeatedly told the issue has been escalated, but no one can tell us what is actually wrong or when it will be fixed.

This is not just an inconvenience. I work from home and am now driving 30 minutes to my friend’s apartment just to be able to work. My daughter is in college and also needs reliable internet for her online classes. We live in a rural area with little to no cell service, so we rely on Wi-Fi calling. With both internet and our landline down, we have virtually no reliable way to make or receive calls.

This is also affecting elderly people in our community who rely solely on their landlines to communicate with doctors, family, and emergency services. The ones with just a landline can not call 911.

People are having to drive to places like McDonald’s just to use Wi-Fi or make a phone call. We shouldn’t have to leave our homes and search for somewhere with internet simply because our provider can’t restore service or provide accurate information.

Brightspeed: What is causing this outage, why has it been down for 5 days, and when will our service actually be restored?

At this point, we’re not asking for another estimated date that may come and go. We want answers and accountability.

Is anyone else unable to read post responses from recent topics? There are some topics that have multiple responses but when I click on the comments tab there are none visible.

On my Mac Air: whether I use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, when I try to log into Brightspeed and get to my home page, as soon as I enter the code it sends me to login, I see my home page for a split second then the screen goes completely white/blank. I've cleared my cache, I've tried using an incognito page, nothing works. I sent Brightspeed a DM on Facebook, they said they created a case number, they then tried to see me other services which I ignored, then then said since they haven't heard back from me they were closing the case. Does anyone else have this issue? I can log in on my phone with no problem but prefer to do it on the bigger laptop screen.

Hello people.

So my sister used an old school land line and we are closing her account due to her passing away and the bill getting away for a while after. My mom lived with her and wanted to open an account under her name and keep the same phone number since every place and family member has the number. She talked to one person who said that they couldn't transfer the number until my sisters account was closed because its connected to her account. ok fine.

Another day she called and asked once the account was closed how long would it be before she could try to reclaim the number. She was told that they could "port out" the number as soon as the account was closed. Not exactly saying that the number could be transferred over to her phone service.

I was wondering if anyone has had to deal with this and has any information. It feels like they have about as much info as I do when I talk to them.
