Detroit Public Schools ruined any chance of this building being saved by simply never securing the building. They never even put boards over the broken windows until it was too late. Shame on them that this beautiful piece of Mediterranean revival architecture will now be gone.

A local nonprofit had tried to save the building but Detroit Public School rejected selling it to them for $1 million. The decision was made to demolish the building as it had deteriorated way too far for it to ever be used again.
