Choosing dual monitors

I currently have a BenQ PD2700Q (1440p @ 60Hz) and have been looking to change over to a dual monitor setup. I no longer do much photo editing so colour accuracy is less important to me, and I'm taking the chance to upgrade the refresh rate too.

The research I've done has lead me to look at a 27" 1440, and a 24" 1080 which I will mount vertically. I'm not looking for anything crazy in regards to refresh rate so ~100-144Hz is all I'm really after for the 27". This is where I'm running into trouble, and the limits of my knowledge - I've struggled to find a pair of monitors in the size/resolution combination I'm after.

How much (if any) of an issue is it to have different makes/models of monitors when looking at a dual monitor setup?

Any recommendations for a pair of monitors to suit would be greatly appreciated. I am in Australia, and my budget is around $500 AUD for both monitors. I would be selling my current BenQ to help fund this - hoping to get around $200 (please let me know if that seems unreasonable. It's been hard to find second hand pricing on the monitor).

ETA - not sure if this matters, but my current PC includes:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600x
  • GeIL Polaris 32Gb DDR5
  • Sapphire Radeon RX 9060XT 16Gb - 1x DP 2.1a, 2x HDMI
  • Gigabyte B650m Motherboard

Help Choosing 2nd Monitor

I have owned an AOC Q27G3XMN since November 2024 and overall I am satisfied with it. I am looking to add another monitor to my setup and I am considering adding the exact same monitor or the upgraded Q27G4ZMN.

Q27G4ZMN = $454.99 CAD (~320 USD)

Q27G3XMN = $349.99 CAD (~246 USD)

Price Difference = $105 CAD (~74 USD)

I have an i7-14700KF paired with an RTX 4070 TI Super and 32GB DDR5 6000 MHz RAM.

Given the price difference and the fact that the 2nd monitor will be added alongside an existing Q27G3XMN is it worth the extra $105 CAD (~74 USD) for the upgraded Q27G4ZMN? The main benefit that I am aware of is the increased number of dimming zones which is a substantial upgrade (1152 zones vs 336 zones).

Or is the price savings and the benefit of having a dual monitor setup with identical monitors more attractive? I mainly watch media, occasionally play games like Cyberpunk 2077, and I do some personal video editing (QTGMC deinterlacing of DVDs, Topaz upscaling).
