So I heard they are implementing a bunch of changes. They also are going to make ID verification mandatory, meaning you will get warned or banned if you don't show your ID. I am NOT ADVERTISING I AM JUST MENTIONING IT. I know a few small communities on Discord that are nice, including a server I created.

But other than that, Discord is terrible. I also hate that you have to pay a lot of money in order to get basic features such as sending large photos and videos. Nitro is a scam in my opinion, it is not worth it - its a cash grab.

The Discord alternative Stoat is better, I think. And there are a whole bunch of alternatives too. Is Discord going to be around in the next 5-10 years? Maybe not. And if it is, these problems will get 100x worse.

The people that run Discord are a bunch of power hungry, money obsessed crooks. It didn't start off that way, but I think over time they became corrupted by money & power.

Its all about the money, not about the people. Which sucks!

I spent most of my time on Discord, and to be honest, I even served as a moderator there. But what did I get from it? Honestly, nothing except hate and judgment. I noticed how disrespectful and toxic people can be on Discord. One person was even misbehaving with me just because I did not agree with him.

But whatever it is, I think at the end of the day it is just Discord, and I should not get addicted to it. Maybe I already am, but still, I know I should not be.

What do you think about it? Do online communities really matter more than peace of mind?

Idk about y'all, but Discord seriously needs to get on the ball with better security for their site. You sit there and want people to support you but you have shit service when it comes to reporting accounts that have been hacked. Their needs to be a selection for "Account hacked by scam/phisher" so people can stop the spread of bullshit goin around and here lately a lot of my friends have been dropping like flies including someone very close who got fucked over by someone sporting a link for a new game whom was able to hack into his computer, get his info and everything on it then held it all for ransome. ​He was lucky to play the dumb card and claim he didn't know English before cutting off his internet then changing his passwords before wiping his system free and restarting. The dumbass then tried to get back into his email again but it was already changed. FUCK YOU SCAMMERS!!!!!

If you are tired from Discord then maybe it is a sign that you should try something new. What if this "new" is actually a big step in video communication?

I am talking about so-called frosted glass video meetings. It's a relaxed type of meetings where you can activate a shared layer of virtual frosted glass between participants - with mutual visibility and frosting, as when using real physical frosted glass. It feels so relaxed and stress-free that makes you wonder why would you need text chat in the first place, when you can talk naturally through frost.

I built a Windows app that implements that, and would like to know if you are interested in trying thing like that. The app is called MeetingGlass.

So im 13 and i got suspended for saying 13/14 is fine and idk discord tickets dont help and idk what to do

1st of all spam generally means repeated sending of SAME messages

But shitcord has an automated filter that activates after u DM more than x amount of new people in y time EVEN if you send differing messages

I often DM girls on social servers and such and as they aren't always guaranteed to respond and often are overwhelmed with DMs, it's better to DM more instead of a few

But shitcord doesn't want anything good to happen so of course it has to ruin it

If they think ur a bot/spammer why not just give a captcha when you cross the limit instead of tempban?

They do give captcha for a while if u cross the limit that is before tempban, but if you already verified ur a real person many times then why tf give a tempban in first place?

It's not their business how often users message others, if users don't like someone DMing them they can just ignore/block so why exactly Discord needs to intervene on behalf of others?

They could make a system of blocks/less responses activating it instead of an arbitrary fixed number

So if you kept DMing after being blocked by other users before or having not gotten enough replies you'd get tempbanned

And vice-versa getting enough replies and/or not getting blocked much would let you keep DMing until the block/low response rate filter activates

Has someone experienced the same issue? Is there a way to bypass it?

why is it even possible to get banned only because you accidentally joined the "wrong" server? i was literally in a dumbass 'free speech' server that was literally promoted on disboard, and i joined it cause why the hell not thats what discord s for, and i wake up a few days later with my account permanently suspended?? i explain the situation and my appeal gets denied 😐

wtf do i even do at this point? i commited zero of the 'violent extremism' it said my ban was for, like, could discord at least point to where i did any of that, as to actually deserve the ban? that's like arresting everybody present to a school shooting because they were just.. there.

anyway, im sort of asking for help here. do i just wave goodbye to my account and bid it farewell? since i had a lot of friends on it that i dont want to just lose for no reason whatsoever.

side note: i didnt join that free speech server since im (i am very confused but i dont think a 'not' was supposed to be there) one of those discord racists weirdos, i joined it since the name was agartha, and i found it funny. i am a very much leftist person. also, i wouldn't have met the best TempleOS programmer if i hadn't joined that server. though i now realize that's pointless since i lost my account.

I lost my account because discord would just simply not accept my verification code and It's still like this the support agent marked the ticket as 'Solved' after i got the response that this ticket will be escalated to another staff member.

In 2016 in high school I made a life altering decision by installing Discord. I didn't know it at the time, but that would be the moment I truly turned into an inept, loner member of society. Today in 2026, I have no in person friends, have never been in a (real) relationship, no job, no network and no social skills.

Over those 10 years, especially in the beginning, I met some people that I would consider, "online friends" but I've come to realize how faceless the atmosphere is. Being on Discord is like living in a blur. I've noticed that I'm almost always the one who has to start the conversations as I've had instances where if I don't message someone first that I've talked to for the past 5 years for lets say, 2 months, I would never hear from them again. In those moments I've realized that I'm just a drop in the bucket for someone's daily dopamine hit of hearing that ping sound.

Those early years of Discord trapped me into believing that I could just use it as a crutch for social engagement. But as I got older, I've come to realize it really hasn't meant much in the grand scheme of things. Now that I'm in my mid 20s, I haven't formed any real relationships for the past decade and that's certainly taken a toll on me.

I know there's a whole different life outside of social media and I want to live that life. I've entirely eradicated things like TikTok, YT Shorts and Twitter/BlueSky out of my life but Discord is this gargantuan behemoth just keeping me here that I can't escape from. I have moments where I just randomly open Discord on my phone and scroll through the different servers I'm in, wondering if someone posted in a specific channel so I can get 2 seconds of reading time.

I feel like that if I could leave Discord behind after a decade of being chained to it I would be an entirely different person as I'm so close to it already! I barely use any other social media, I workout actively and I'm learning how to draw. But I don't have the social skills to share those things with real people and Discord is way too easy to overshare on. I still remember what life was like before Discord, where I had to actively schedule my time with school friends to make anything happen and though the adult world doesn't have much time for that, I would like to have the option.

The obvious answer is, "just delete Discord" which I have tried many times, but the slight alure of someone maybe actually caring about some random picture I posted draws me back in or some other example similar to that. That ping sound is strong after a decade of being conditioned to get excited to check Discord when hearing it. I know something needs to change but I don't know how else to leave. I have hope that I can escape the online life and find myself who was lost a decade ago.

The problem is that I had a Discord account I used to for many stuff but one day I told someone my age as 7 years old and because of that my account got suspended no checking, no warning, directly suspended i E mailed them many time with all the proof of my age. My school ID card, my adhaar card, my photo etc but nothing happned. This happened around january of 2025. I when i got fedup with this I quited and lost the hope of getting my account. But in present time I really need that account I had my many freinds and i want to talk to them but I cant. So Discord support team or anyother person who is reading this post pleasse help me get my account. and yeah I first went to write an e mail to discord but i got to know that the support system have changed and we have to make some kind of ticket and there we have to sign in but i dont know that how can a person sign in from his account if it is suspended and want to solve that issue only. I am requesting that please help me to get my account. I have even forgoten my password of that acc. big servers are scary, and all people on discord are extremely toxic. also, nowadays i'll make a random joke such as "test-tickles" and people will be like "that made me uncomfortable" and i'll get timed out. like dude, i can't stand it ffs. previously i got ganged up on by several mods because someone thought i said the n word when i said "my neck hurts". i got timed out, got stressed so i actually just left. Discord. Is. Bullshit.

It’s kinda a crazy seeing a full server chatting away and if anyone is going to agree with me it’s here. You bring this up in the chat thread and they respond with get good lol. What do you all think? Is there a better option out there? I’ve used discord for years but man. It’s rough.
