Disk Drill preview shows audio only (no video) on Windows for recovered GoPro MP4s — works fine on Mac

Hoping someone here has run into this. I lost ~66 GB of GoPro footage on a microSD card during a trip and I'm trying to recover it with Disk Drill before paying for the Pro license.

What's happening:

- Scanned the card on my MacBook Air (M3, 2024) Disk Drill found the files and the preview worked perfectly, video + audio.

- I don't have 66 GB free on the Mac, so I switched to my Windows 10 PC (2.5 TB free).

- On Windows, Disk Drill finds the same files. But in the preview panel I only get audio the video area is blank. Files show as "MP4, Video File (VLC)".

What I've tried:

- Changed the default video player from VLC to Films & TV.

- Restarted the PC.

- No change.

Setup:

- Windows 10 Home

- Disk Drill 6.2.1278.0

I really don't want to pay until I can confirm visually that these are the right clips audio alone isn't enough. My guess is a codec issue, since GoPros often record in HEVC/H.265 and Windows doesn't ship with HEVC support by default (macOS does, which would explain why preview works on the Mac). But I'm not sure if Disk Drill's preview even uses the system codecs or has its own decoder.

Anyone seen this before? Is installing HEVC Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store enough, or is something else going on? Any workaround so I can verify the files before paying for the license?

Thanks!
