Traveling in a few days

Going to Portugal, Spain, and a 7 day cruise soon. What eSIM are you guys using lately that actually works well? I have an iPhone and mainly need data for maps, WhatsApp, Uber, etc. Wondering if Airalo is still the best option or if there’s something better now. Also, does it work during the cruise or not really?

Japan data rates seem all over the place

I'm flying out to Osaka on Friday for 10 days and I've been staring at different data plans for the last hour. Some of these providers are charging like $20 for 5GB which feels like a massive tourist tax just for a bit of Google Maps and translation.

I'm trying to figure out a couple of things before I buy anything:

Is 5GB actually enough for 10 days if I'm mostly using it for navigation and checking train schedules?

Does the coverage drop off much if I take a day trip out to Nara or Kyoto?

What are you guys using lately that doesn't cost a fortune but still has a decent ping?

I really don't want to deal with swapping physical cards at Kansai airport while jetlagged.

Carrier lock only on esim

Hi everyone.

I'm currently facing an issue with a second handed Pixel 9 Pro XL.

I bought the device through ebay as an unlocked device, I've been using this with a physical sim, but recently I noticed that adding an esim, the phone asks for a Tmobile one and refuses to take the Saily one (I was going to use it for a trip).

Physical sim works with all my local carriers (not located in the US), Is it even possible to only the Esim to be carrier locked, or could be something else? Is there any way to make the Esim work besides contacting tmobile (as I'm not the original owner).

Additional notes - OEM unlock is available

- I have ebay proof of purchase, and know for good the phone is not stolen (customs of my country double checked that)

- I've already tried re-flashing it and even custom ROM (Graphene OS), and it didn't work, the only difference is in the stock rom shows "Scan QR from T-Mobile" while in GOS shows "Scan QR from carrier"

Thanks for your help!

can eSim providing asian phone number and VPN work together?

Hi, I'm from Europe and will be travelling in Asia soon and thought about getting a VPN, but I also need an eSim, that will give me an asian phone number. I've tried to get info on the matter but i couldn't find any, so, my question is :

if my eSim provides me an Asian phone number, does my Android VPN hides that number and / or still locates me in Europe? is there any way to effectively "hide" this asian number or do i have to switch on my European physical sim when i get calls from Europe ?

From Canada to US first timer eSIM

My regular phone plan is $15 a day to travel to the US for two weeks that adds up a lot. I googled short-term plans and found out about eSIM. What are folks suggesting I get or download this is completely brand new to me. I have a five hour layover in a Canadian airport heading to the US to figure this out. Thank you.

Flexiroam in Sydney/Canberra (Australia) - doesn't work

I use Flexiroam as my major travel card (physical sim) due to holding WorlElite Mastercard that give me free service 3 times a year. Unfortunately, this time in Australia it did not work. The customer support tried to help, but mostly by making sure my APN settings were correct, etc. Despite their efforts and reassuring the service works in Aus, all was in vain so I was out of internet for a week (was using cousin's wifi sharing). Could not manually register on neither of Telstra, Optus or Vodafone.

eSIM works on locked phones

So I purchased a phone from AT&T and it says it is SIM locked. When I put my Boost Mobile phone next to it it let me bring my number over to the AT&T locked phone. I had already checked compatibility on the boost website and it said the phone was locked and not compatible with boost, but I had no issues bringing it right over and downloading an eSIM. Phone still says sim locked in settings. Just using my boost plan under 2nd imei. I’m confused.
Am I gonna wake up and my phone doesn’t work anymore

Warning if need more than 1 esim

Travelling with my spouse to Europe so decided to go with Saily. Bought 2 eSIMs but their process makes it very challenging to install onto 2 iphones. Better off buying one at a time.
