Refurbing Mark II Stage 73 - Looking for advice

Refurbing Mark II Stage 73 - Looking for advice

Hey,

I've had this little baby for a few years now. At first it sounded great. Then one of the octaves became quieter than the others. Then It became louder than the others and now some of the keys make this smacking sound. I haven't been able to find any other examples of it online to diagnose the problem. It's a mid-80s model. I haven't started the refurb yet. Wanted to figure out what was going on before I started. But I need the old girl in tip top shape for my new blues band. So, it is time.

Can a standard 3 prong cord be safely modified for use on a Wurlitzer 200a?

Somehow I lost my Wurli power cord during a move. Is there a simple way to modify one of my standard AC connectors from other audio equipment to use on the Wurli, or should I just pay for a new Wurli cord?

Experiences with NE7 HP?

I'm considering selling my real Wurli and replacing it with an NE7HP... The upkeep/tuning on the Wurli keeps me from playing it as often as I'd like... but at the same time, I'm afraid I'll miss the 'liveliness' of a true electromechanical instrument combined with a tube amp. Are there any owners out there who can remark on the feel/connection they have with the NE7's Wurli/piano samples? What about the action? I'm guessing the action is geared to feel like an acoustic, whereas the real Wurli's is significantly lighter, which has a noticeable effect on how I play it. What about the amp sims/OD, and effects? Have any of you used the NE7 with outboard effects pedals or run it into a tube amp, how has that gone? Does it feel like you can dial in a signature sound, or do you feel like you sound like everyone else with the same instrument?

I'm waffling very hard on the dscision, my Wurli is my prized possesion, but whats the point of having it if I rarely play it? Its great for recording, but I've knocked it out of tune while on stage a couple of times, and that not only puts a damper on those individual sets, but also how I approach playing it on stage in general... I'm afraid to lean into it, and I wind up missing out on my favorite part of its sound, which is the barky/growly end it hits when you hit it hard.

Anyone else out there parted ways with a real vintage EP in favof of a modern digital? Do you regret it, or do you think it was a wise choice?
