NFC Iconoglass top shelf build.

Wanted to build on one of these blanks and spend a little time with Snake Brand products. Picked up guides and one off reel seat from them, wrapped in silk with a little tiny bit of Fuji color shifting metallic. Opted for the cigar grip as well because I have meat hooks for hands.

It’ll be put up for sale but with any luck it wont sell and I can keep it.

Advice needed: Dry Rotted/cracked epoxy around guides

Thanks in advance to all those who reply.

I am not stranger to rod building and rod repair, but I need a little advice. I have an older LOOP fly rod that I may want to sell, but upon cleaning it up, I noticed that a decent number of guides have cracked epoxy around the wraps. Nothing is loose and the rod functions, but I’d like it to be in better condition before I sell.

In the past, when I’ve run into loose guides or wraps, I’ve removed them completely, rewrapped, and re-epoxied. Which is probably the correct way to do it.

I’m hoping that you’ll tell me it’s possible to use a low build epoxy (possibly thinned) and that will be enough to seep into the cracks and I’ll be able to call it good.

I don’t want to sell someone a lemon but I also don’t want to put in a lot of work for something I’m going to sell and doesn’t have a ton of value.

Any advice is appreciated (Tell me my plan will work flawlessly and I’ll do great.)

Silk is fun

Had a couple Iconoglass blanks from NFC come in so decided to do silk on them for extra pop. While silk is a little temperamental to work with, it sure looks good, especially on these translucent blanks.

7’6 4w for smaller mountain streams and places where finesse trumps length of cast.
